Knowing full-well there are predators on the island, and of course they would want to be around a food source (herbivores)---what was her plan when something hungry showed up?

The fact that 5 minutes after she was touching the Dino she scolds nick for lighting up a cigarette and says “we are her to observe not interact” it’s like baffling as to why they would include that, makes me hate her character, it’s like dude you were just physically interacting with it!
The digital effects were pretty bad in this scene. I’m sure Spielberg cringes at this now. Somehow, the original didn’t have any “bad” effect scenes. This one is pretty bad.
It’s still amazing and still, by far, the best sequel to the original. Here dinosaurs are dinosaurs not silly Godzilla-style, hyper-mega-aggressive monsters…
The scene is badly written there’s way too much dialogue. The biggest problem with the Lost World is that it was over written, and it followed a pattern of set up an attack set up an attack as Roger Ebert said.

This is one reason why you do not mess with a Stegosaurus herd and their juveniles.
