I was taught to press the top & bottom of the orange before any cutting. The pressing makes the skin come off of the orange much easier.

When I visit my friend in the senior living, I grab an orange - and peel it for her and then place each individual section in her hand. She's 91 yo and blind - and no one bothers to help her to have fresh fruit - or to get sufficient amounts of water daily.
I also bring her water - and make sure she knows that even I don't like water but water is VERY important because without a sufficient amount, people can experience hallucinations and, worse - like organ failure - and 3-5 days without water means dehydration - and death.
People can leave a very long time without food - but not over a week when totally dehydrated.

its a very interesting process but...this also makes a difference which species of oranges you can do this with as each have different types of skins. some you can peel easy and some you can destroy the orange therefore needing a knife to cut into pieces to eat.

By chance do you have a hack for removing the veiny part of the orange it's a very tedious task which stops me often from eating an orange because I don't feel like going through the hassle of removing the veins I don't care for them as they are not pleasant to the palate I would love to just ignore them and eat the orange anyway but I have found that to be something that is quite challenging as a result I eat less oranges I would like to eat more oranges as I enjoy them but I just don't like the hassle of having to peel the veins off of each individual slice by any chance do you have a secret remedy for peeling the pesky vein off of each piece of Orange?
