I agree with Austin not appearing due to money, not washing as an excuse. WWE would have paid him what he wanted and Austin would have realised what a special moment it would have made. It doesn't add up and I think its Meltzer making shit up again if it came from him. I agree with the speculation you had on why it may have not happened.

Even with the alleged reason why he couldnt show up due to a reality show obligation, i feel like he could have showed up if he wanted to. It would have only been 5-10 mins at most and I feel like it would have been easy for him to ask the film crew to give him one day to show up to Wrestlemania. I feel like theres more to this and I wish Stone Cold still did his podcast so he might give reason as to why because with all the Stone Cold "Philly 3:16" merch, he definitely was supposed to be there. He could have done the spot with the Rock and Taker could have done the spot with Roman. That to me would have made sense. All things said, it was still an amazing moment and I enjoyed being there and seeing Taker come out, but the place would have erupted if that glass shattered like it should have.
@Terri234 no idea. Although they asked him recently about having a match with Punk. Whilst he ruled out a match with Rock, he didn't rule out facing Punk. So maybe he wanted to wait until that can potentially be set up. It's possible if it's similar to the Owens match and more of a brawl.
@@shedpower9916 I think Taker did fit the narrative as he has history with Roman, is the moral conscience of the WWE and the ultimate equaliser. And he needed to remind Rock that WWE will always and forever be his 'yard' and he has a huge amount of respect amongsr his peers and the fans. But I agree Austin's history with Rock and him not appearing in WWE for a couple of years would have led to a bigger pop and arguably a bigger Wrestlemania moment. It would have reminded me a lot of him helping Foley beat Rock, which would have been ironic.

Stone Cold vs The Rock is one of if not greatest feuds ever it makes sense for him to take the rock out if its a feud for them but a feud of Roman vs Cody Cody vs the Bloodline taking back the title for the fans and the company that story Undertaker being the heart and soul of WWE and leader of the locker room makes way more sense in Cody story to be the one to come in and nail the Rock over Stone Cold also everyone in the world was waiting for Austins glass to shatter it was a way better surprise and holy shit moment hearing the gong and lights go out cus no one thought that was gonna happen

Don’t agree with your take on Austin. What more did he get by appearing for a one off segment with Rock and Hogan at WM30? What more did he get by appearing alongside HBK and Foley to confront League of Nations? This main event was the most important one for WWE and he should have been there whatever may be the case.
I don’t mind seeing Hook at NXT, but I wonder if Tazz will be asked to cut a promo about that

I also heard Steve Austin say in an interview that he dislikes flying due to him & his dogs being uncomfortable.
If possible Steve prefers to drive to his destinations if they are close enough to where his residence is.
Not saying this is why he didn't appear but it is something to coconsider as I have heard him mention this on his podcast.
WWE & Austin have lots of money already so I don't necessarily think it was strictly money related.
Steve has said he doesn't like his dogs being stored in the plane where they can't be with him assuming he isn't flying private on a jet or something like that idk?
Just something to consider as to why he wasn't there.
If he is in Nevada, or Texas or LA or w.e he lives that's a ways away from Philadelphia.

Austin is very protective of his character. Of course money is always an issue but he isn't someone who just do appearances. Its also that Vince who he was close with wasn't there. Vince knew how to talk to Steve which the new powers that be probably can't.

Steve Austin doesn’t necessarily want to work the The Rock. I believe that’s the reason.
He personally chose The Rock for his retirement match in 2003. Why wouldn't he want to work with him?
2003 rock was due to get his win back since Austin won the previous 2 encounters at WM. Plus rock was red hot then. Austin doesn’t want to come back for anything bc he tho he had fun when he had his match, that stunner to Vince at the end was so bad and embarrassing I can see Austin not wanting to come back to WWE anytime soon because then it opens the doors for him to be interviewed about Vince McMahon and the allegations.
Has anyone ever thought that maybe he simply didn't want to come back for a throwaway segment? All this speculation and maybe he just found it a hassle to go through all the effort for that one thing. Stone Cold Steve Austin would have overshadowed Cody's greatest moment in his career. How does he ALWAYS end up his appearances? By "drinking" inhuman amounts of beer, and sharing it with everyone. It was a smart move, even though it was EXACTLY what I would've loved to see.
I usually agree with JD and almost always disagree with Meltzer. But I think you're wrong about Stone Cold. Maybe he did want more than what they were paying Cena and they told him nevermind, we have Taker. They just reported WWE not spending so much money on the AR graphics and Pyro, which we saw at Wrestlemania. There was barely any pyro or anything at Mania. I don't know why you think WWE would just give him any ridiculous amount of money he wanted. They are not Tony Khan, just throwing ridiculous amounts of money away. WWE is showing that they know AEW is no threat at all and they're letting big names go to AEW, like Mercedes and Ospreay. They aren't doing a bidding war. WWE is much more responsible with their money now. Stone Cold would have made the building explode but would it have been worth it business-wise to pay him anything he wanted? Cody still had an amazing Mania moment regardless
Hook have been one of my five favorites in AEW. I honestly wouldn’t be upset if he does go to WWE even though it’s not my cup of tea.

In all honesty if Drew Gulak did do what you shouldn't to Rhonda Rousey let alone to any other woman if he's released then that should be a lesson for all men in the WWE or any other pro wrestling promotion and as far as what should have happened during the Wrestlemania main event I wish we could've seen Stone Cold but I understand why he didn't show up in the main event because like JD said he's a guy that'll never settle for one off appearances & with Hook best of luck with him exploring free agency in pro wrestling and with enough time given I think hook would make a great North American champion let alone a great nxt world heavyweight champion.
Austin would have been great been great bur I think that last part was gonna go to brock as brock makes the most sense as he had a major rivalry with Roman on multiple occasions. Also he couldn't challenge fir the wwe undisptedtitle and Jim shaking hands with Cody would have went full circle I mean I would loved Austin and Roxk in the ring androck flipping one last time taking a stunner but brock made perfect sense
I don't think it was all money either....I think Austin is near 60 and ppl just think these guys are pawns that can be used at any time (smh lol). I think he was worried about how he'd look, especially next to the Rock who looks like he's still in his 30's. Yes Austin is particular, and one thing he is very particular about is preserving his legacy in the eyes of the fans. I think that's clearly the reason, and can't blame him for it.

im gonna be honest, i think stone cold was busy and he didnt want to just come back for a quick pay day just to stunner the rock and then disappear, maybe he made plans to watch wrestlemania at home with his family and enjoy it like the rest of us. now since the the rock and cody is still in a feud, i can see stone cold potentially coming back to deal with the final boss later on this year or even at next years wrestlemania, it all depends on what direction the storyline is going to go.

Hook, is not going to jump to WWE. The only reason why he's interested in testing free agency is because he's not an idiot. EVERY pro wrestler in the industry SHOULD test free agency IF they were smart. Especially when you can get WWE and AEW to bid against each other, you'll maximize your own personal earnings. EVERY pro wrestler should do that.
