The one thing that moved my emotions most at Hiroshima castle was the atomic bomb survivor tree at the main gate that was only 740 m away from ground zero. I made a pause there after visiting the castle realising what happened by this witness of bombing.
My feelings we're all over the place, especially knowing that the bombs where originally made for my home country. Their original target were industrial cities in Germany, knowing it goes away the original castle and killing so many civilians just stopped my breath. The tree was emotional as important to me as the visit to the peace museum of did afterwards.
Thank you so much for your videos.

The castles were always the targets from us bombers. Because the castles are located in the center of cities and big and tall, easy to find from the sky. No respect for the cultural heritage and the symbol and treasures of the people. So sad.

Great video! Looks like you got to see Shukkeien with perfect timing to see those beautiful blossoms :O I have spent a few days in Hiroshima but I never got a chance to see the castle - I will definitely have to check it out! I really like it when you can see the castle's defenses, they're ingenious I think!
It seems a lot of people will go to visit for historical reasons - of course! - the Hiroshima bombing. Many outside Japan I think are not fully aware of it, so of course it is very important! The strong feelings that can be experienced when learning about the bombing, can also make it easy to miss that Hiroshima is also a beautiful city, full of its own culture & lovely people & wonderful arts & gardens & so close to lovely scenery and of course, also great food, and is well worth visiting for those reasons too. I always recommend more than just one day or two in Hiroshima, there's so much to see and lemon nabe to eat...

Prunus persica versicolour. Is the English name. It's a peach and a fine addition to any garden.
