I have been wanting to update my old chrome valve covers and air cleaner for years. This video finally gave me the motivation to do it! Another great video - keep them coming!!
Awesome, glad to hear it! Hopefully it won't take you a month to decide which ones you want like it took me. :)
My options for valve covers was based on what was actually in stock lol. Careful with losing those washers. My last valve covers cracked. I noticed that the crack was where the previous owner didn't have the washers. Those studs are super slick. I'm surprised that you were able to get that intake spacer (looks like it was exactly what you needed)
Those studs are awesome, but too short. I have since purchased longer studs, but I'm saving them for a surprise down the road. ;)
Like the new logo/intro ❤🔥❤🔥
Thanks!
I was the same way, it took me over a month to decide on valve covers, I had always wanted chrome ones, so that's what I got , thanks for the video, looks great
I go back and forth on valve covers and wheels, I never seem to be happy with what I buy. For some reason, those are the only two things I can't make my mind up on. :)
That looks sick! Imagine having that block painted black too!
Painting the block is down the road, but I don't want to go black as it would be difficult to diagnose any leaks, hard to see against a black background. :)
Keep up the great work !!
I recently bought a 65 mustang and your videos helped and taught me a lot.
That is awesome! Hopefully these videos will help. :)
Awesome video supper explained! Very helpful! I am getting ready to put a 6AL MSD ignition and I would love to see a video of that! Not much out there with as much as your clarification!
Thanks!
I'd like to do a 6AL or something similar, I just don't know when I'll get to it. The mod list is long but the Bank and the Boss keep shaking their heads. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel awesome,But I’m glad to hear that there’s more parts/videos coming up!
I like the all black! Looks so much better! Great job! You should get “Ford Racing” etched on top of the breather plate though. I would also recommend a K&N filter. I put one on mine and it looks much better than the plain white filter.
Yeah, I'll be getting a better filter down the road, it was a last minute purchase and it was cheap. :)
Look good, I like the way those motors look black. Great work!
Thanks!!
great work but I personally thought it looked better with the blue valve covers and chrome air filter housing
Fair enough! :)
Many folks make the mistake of not checking fastener lengths needed when going to aluminum valve covers and intake manifolds, myself included.
I make those kind of mistakes too often, not happy about how much those decisions cost me when it's all tallied up. :)
Thanks for the video I'm changing my hci and I'm going to go with studs as well on the valve covers again thanks for the advice.
Just a heads up, I have since purchased the correct length studs for these Covers, they are ARP # 200-7610, they're what I should have purchased before I made the video. I haven't put them in yet, I'm saving them for an upgrade coming soon. :)
Great video and those valve covers really look great on there! Thanks for the great content!
Thanks for watching!
New valve covers looks nice, i want the other blue valve covers u had in black but u said they scratch easily.
Yeah, I'm with you, those other covers were pretty slick. I may still get them and put them on this engine, but too bad they're expensive, I'd like to be able to switch between them as the mood fits. :)
Great choice!
Thanks!
Andy, your engine bay is really coming along. I just purchased a radiator filler panel, for my 66, which covers up the gap between the grill and radiator core support. I ordered mine from Classic Industries. They offer clear, black and polished anodized panels. Something to think about, when your budget dictates.
Funny you mention that, I was just looking at that space yesterday thinking about finding a cover for that gap. I'll have to check that out! :)
@@AndyKruseChannel items # FM661101, 1102, 1103, depending on which style surface your interested in.
The black looks good!
Thanks!
I put 1984/1985 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 valve covers on the 289 that 's in my 1967 Ford Mustang. I wish that I had Never traded in my 1985 Ford Mustang GT. I bought it brand new on Dec.24,1984. If I ever find another one I don't think I'll be able to pass it by.
It's tough when you discover the "one that got away". I have the same feelings about a few of my cars in the past. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel The Only reason I traded my 85 off. I was moving to another state and I knew that Dad and I were going to buy some land to go hunting on and a 85 Mustang GT is not the ideal hunting rig, so away it went. But my dumbest car mistake is not really my fault .One of my high school friends his older brother bought brand new a 1968 Ford Shelby GT 500. But it kept getting stolen. The last time he got it back we went over to his house for something and he asked us if any of us wanted it he just wanted it gone. I told him yes I wanted it but Dad said we don't have anyplace to put it . Our house did not have a garage just a carport and the 8 ft. camper was already in there. I was only 17 at the time and had just graduated from high school in 1976. My insurance man would have loved me. A17 year old male yeah buddy I'm gonna retire off of the ins. rates for this kid.
Very nice! The new valve covers look great.
Thanks, I think so too!
Andy how do u not burn the spark plug wires on those headers? I have boots & looms on mine & I still have to replace them once in awhile. Also do u have a hard time getting to the 7th plug? I’m gonna have to drop the header to get to mine. Awesome video👍🏾
Having those 90 degree angle spark boots help, but also cutting the wires to the right length and routing them higher helped too.
Yes, getting to that 7th cyl plug is a pain, but doable. In fact, it seems like 6th, 7th, and 8th cyl plugs require patience with these headers. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel thanks brother
Nice!👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video, engine looks great. Question, with your JBA headers, are the bolts staying tight or have you had to re tighten them since you installed them? Thanks and have a great weekend.
I've had to re-tighten a few, but most are good to go. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel Thanks for the info, I “had” a set of Scott Drake Tri-Y’s on but the constant retightening was to much.
How thick (roughly) is the base if your valve cover? That would determine the right stud length. I prefer the gaskets you originally had. The are silicone and have a rigid base. With the studs it’s less important.
I have since ordered new valve cover studs (the right length this time) but I'm saving them for a surprise down the road. :)
@@AndyKruseChannel Are the studs actually aluminum?
@@swooshdave I think so, it says "Aluminum valve cover studs" on the packaging. They're the same ARP studs, just longer.
@@AndyKruseChannel I looked more carefully and I think the studs are steel but they are meant for cast aluminum valve covers.
COME ON ANDY!!! With all the air filter cover choices out there to personalize your engine bay and make it look FAN-FRICKIN-TASTIC… and you went with that plain Jane option?!?! You have finally disappointed me. 🫢😔 Just kidding… but I would have loved to have seen some of the Ford Performance options. Hell, even an Edelbrock.
I hear ya, that filter is boring, but it fit the budget for now. I'd like to do something different, but I need the money for projects in the works. :)
