  • In his insightful presentation at the fourth BizNews conference, South African politician and provincial chairman of ActionSA in the Eastern Cape, Athol Trollip details his extensive political background from his early days in a new and infant democracy post 1994. Skirmishes with the self-serving, corrupt and inept politicians. His tenure as mayor in 2016 all the way to his resignation in 2020 and eventual comeback under ActionSA in 2022. Trollip believes that well governed and dependable coalitions have a large part to play in the future of South Africa, a future he thinks needs to happen now.

I'm black in color, a SAFRICAN by virtue of birth, a compatriot, an adent Christian and a studios Bible student, I'm also an activist, or i was rather, u'll understand why. 1994 I was one of the active Leaders in my community in Hammanskraal, we encouraged the entire community to vote for the ANC, which I'm today very ashamed for having done that, especially being a Preacher of the Gospel, but we all did not know, what we know today. What i can say very boldly, without fear or favor, is that ANC today is full of Killers, murderers, fraudsters and Drug lords and they know that very well, even human trafficking is happening among the members of this heartless organization. Lastly i want to appeal to all those who are genuinely God fearing and law abideth citizens to distance themselves from these nefarious criminals.

      Watching from Detroit, Michigan USA.
I grew up here in southeast Michigan and saw the 'Arsenal of Democracy' destroyed over fifty years by leftist progressivism. We finally turned a corner ten years ago. dont lose hope for ypur future.
Detroit was unrivalled in manufacturing, highest rate of both millionaires and privately owned homes. We had the most national corporate headquarters.
Free market worked for workers and owners. The American middle class was built in places like Detroit.
There are so many paralles between my experiences here and many events and developments in South Africa.
I have great fondness for South Africa.
I am also a Christian and will pray to Our Lord to grant South Africa and all her people with life, liberty and prosperity.

I hear you sir and I also concur with the fact ANC has failed and it does not look like they will ever resolve anything. This is serious but also more serious are the past injustices committed by the fathers of these DA gentlemen who are now trying to "save" the day just because their economy is shaking but we as black people do not have an economy. We are struggling from industry to industry, you cannot point me to an industry where black people actually have a meaningful stake. Even migrants have better slices of south African economy than citizens. We are not xenophobic but our rights to thrive has been crushed.
But my concern is about "white supremacy" which is still prevalent. These DA patriots are not discussing reparations and correcting the issues of the past. When i say white, i am NOT referring to fellow white south africa in context. I am always referring to the white supremacy thing.
Voting DA is equal to voting white supremacy. This is worse than what ANC has done so far. If South Africa is not working for them they can go to other countries.
We as the black community must think about future. We really do not want to had over the country to white supremacists.
We have heard their points but let them start by discussing how we are going to resove the past. What about the land and transformation.
I think we are truly uniting against ANC but to no real agreement.
We as black people should leverage the situations. If we are going to fix, let us fix the past that ANC failed to fix. But now it must be done by us Black South African as the most victimized.
Must black people remain economic slaves?
As you look at the pace of business and technology, we have an almost impossible situation as black people. I may be doing well as an individual but as you zoom deeper I am in a constant battle because there is no real economy amongst my people.

"Who do I vote for cause there is no party yet with people of integrity."
In politics, the only thing we can hope to achieve is to choose the lesser of two evils. You are correct, no political party will ever be 100% honest or transparent. I know that as well. But there is only one reason why I will vote in 2024 - to hold the ANC accountable. The main reason why corruption has gotten so bad in this country is simply because the ANC has never had anything to fear - people keep voting for them, so why should they worry? Only when they face real consequences for their actions (ie. at the ballot box) will they start realizing that they are in trouble, and seriously need to change their ways. And this applies to any political party, whether it's the ANC, the DA, the EFF or whoever. When any of them mess up, we need to let them know at the ballot box! 🗳
Who should you vote for? Only you can make that decision. Personally I'm considering the DA, or possibly ActionSA. Yes, they are not perfect either. But like I said, we are not looking for perfect - we are looking for the lesser of two evils. Who knows? Maybe they will end up surprising us. But if they don't, there's always next election - we, the people, decide their fates, and they know that.

SA needs to first crystalize your existent out of the box existing form of what one would call a ‘rainbow nation’ nationalism ( a political philosophy that captures the inherent and diverse cultural values that make up the entire rainbow nature of people whom you are).

As an Indian we haven’t had any voice and have been tarnished by Guptagate. In conjunction with this is us not belonging. My pride for the country has diminished and I really don’t believe that there is an honest bone in politics or hope to rid the rot. Atol a beautiful vision but sadly not realistic. Goodluck I getting people to vote.

Herman Mashaba is the South African Donald Trump of this 2024 campaign.

WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT 🙄. "All hail the great and powerful Atholl Trollop!" Now what? Knowing the truth and acting on a truth are two completely different things. It's not enough that you all see the problem, you are going to have to motivate the unconvertable to not only vote but to vote for somebody else in the 2024 elections. This is doable. If you all follow this approach. The so-called adults in South Africa (most have a child like mentality) have become discouraged and disinterested in the voting system. You can not change their minds. Trust me, I've tried for years. However. There may be a loophole. Their Children's Future. It's a long shot, I know. I've tested with THE THREE QUESTIONS. Do you love your children? Would you die for your children? Would you vote for your children's future? 🤔. It appears that I have hit a nerve with this thought process. So.. what I suggest everybody starts doing is offering the following advice whenever possible. Do your due diligence and examine each party and select the one that you believe will work for your children's future. Keep pushing "You're children's future." It seems 😕 amazingly enough that parents in this country, after 28 years of no voting, actually may care for their children's future 🙄. Who knew? It surprised me as well, I know. Can you imagine being an 18 year old child asking your parents if they voted for your future and the parents reply. 🙄 "We only voted in 1994". I would love to be a fly on the wall in that room. Anyway, this is the only and correct way to change the mindset of a nation. Use it. Don't use it. But I will still send out these little motivation talks to the common man. I find it most refreshing.

@SquidyMan, he didn't say that the DA doesn't have integrity. He said, that poor decision-making on their (and specifically Helen Zille's) part led to bad results for them in recent elections. That isn't the same as saying they have "no integrity".

We won't compromise our strong stance on immigration just to appease those who seek cheap employment from "hard workers". If they are highly skilled and are of a benefit to the SA economy, they deserve citizenship. Most Zimbabweans aren't.

      @sarahhudleston832 Рік тому

@@TheDarkSib they d t necessarily want citizenship . They live in a brutal country with so many human rights abuses which mbeki and Zuma kept quiet on. Most of them are documented with zim passports. They add massively to the gdp in this country and they are far better educated and more attractive to employers. Jack up the education for all people in this country, put pressure on Zimbabwe to improve their standards of democracy and zimbos will go home. The hospitality and construction industries will collapse. In both sectors Zimbabweans go to college to learn their skills.

@@sarahhudleston832 The hospitality and construction industries will collapse, why didn't they collapse when Zims weren't in this country?
Certain people want Zims because they are easier to exploit, easier to demand more from at a lower price.
This belief that they have a huge impact on the GDP, how do undocumented, unskilled people have a huge impact on the economy, they are paid cash, some don't even have bank accounts, why can't documented SAns be hired in those positions instead?
If you wish to hire Zims bcoz they are better, do so, but you must be taxed if you pay them below minimum wage.
Let's see how many employers care about them after that
