    His comment about the WHO and lockdowns alone ensures they get my vote. Common sense MUST always prevail

    • @antimarxistza
      @antimarxistza Рік тому

      Sounds great now, but he stood, together with the leaders of all parties, next to the President when he announced the lockdowns, while they at that time already knew that the models were wrong and lockdowns would do more damage than good and again two weeks later, all of them stood next to the President to show their support when the lockdowns were extended the 1st time. By then it was public knowledge that deaths would not exceed that of a flue season. South Africans forget too easily what politicians did and said a few months or years ago when they spin a different story that seem more fashionable today, without admittingthat they were wrong before. 🤔

    Outstanding interview John and David - we really do need to look at the nuts and bolts and shift away from ideological imperatives. Where has ideology (and party loyalties) got SA so far? I'm all for ithe 'ideology' of realism!

    I agree with each province governing themselves. The fact that there is a mass migration to the WC speaks of good governance.

    The ANC/EFF will make this country ungovernable before you see any of those core values and principles come to fruition. They may indeed come to lose their hand on things but if they can't have it all, you won't have it either.

      It is people outside the ANC who are worried about "ANC/EFF". Not only such a coalition but coalition going to 2024 does not exist in the vocabulary of the ANC!

    Thanks for a great interview and discussing more general idea's like liberalism, the WHO, common sense etc. - Context is everything. Quick question; does nobody from the IFP do interviews like these? They are probably the single party taking the most votes away from the ANC right now (in by-elections) and have a very real chance of forming a coalition government in KZN in 2024 (and be part of a national government). What are their views on coalitions, working with the DA and ActionSA, their success right now etc? KZN is the second biggest province in SA and the IFP the 4'th largest party; I would love to hear more from them and their views o the future.

    We live in hope.

    • @frikrabie5371
      @frikrabie5371 Рік тому +1

      Why live in hope when you can take control and make it happen?
      THE SOLUTION - OUR MONEY UNDER OUR CONTROL
      The ANC doesn't fulfill its constitutional obligations.
      The ANC is far worse than just a "poor" government, it CHOOSES to break down and to destroy. That is why this action is warranted and needed.
      Most importantly the ANC incites hatred/violence against us when they say that we stole their land - I checked, we didn't.
      It is not reasonable to expect law abiding tax payers to continue with "the winner takes all principle" of a democracy to their own and the country's demise.
      Who says we HAVE to be part of this political dispensation? Nobody questions this. It is time to stop, think and QUESTION this.
      Nothing and nobody have the right to force us to be part of this self destructive political dispensation.
      The ANC doesn't have the right to impoverish us, it is time that you and others realize this and act.
      Approach the courts - convince them that it would be in the best interest of the country as a whole if we control our own taxes (first goal). Justify our rejection of the current political dispensation (main goal).

    Interesting discussion. It's pity that there was no discussion on the rising emigration. It's probably the biggest problem for opposition parties as it is mainly their voters leaving & who will not vote for the 'coalition parties' come 2024

    • @deanatalbot1085

      I agree thats a good point - I'm a european (long time)immigrant in SA - My sister(a dyed in the wool leftie) left SA in February because she realised there was no future here until the ANC and its supporters eventually hit the wall; this, after once (1994) being enthusiastic enough to vote for the ANC - she was proactive in trying to make changes at grass roots. I am nothing like her, and though I can easily leave, I think the world situation is just as uncertain and fragile. I see fleeing to the west as 'from the frying pan into the fire'. Personally I think many who leave will return and possibly SA may look like a destination for some fleeing the west in the not too distant future. I am planning to move to the Cape from Gauteng because of what the DA is doing although Im not altogether in alignment - im just a realist

      South Africans living abroad can register to cast their vote on the National ballot of SA's National election in most overseas countries.

    • @rivi8080
      @rivi8080 Рік тому +2

      @@schalk9070 That is correct. However, very few SA expats take up that option. The last figures were that almost 1 million South Africans emigrated since 1994, yet in 2019 only 25000 cast their ballot.

    i am certainly interested ❤ i won't mind who the DA deals with in any political party , as long as they know what they want to get this country on the right track. To work together and take hands , because there are more chiefs than Indians in thr ruling party . there has to be watch dogs. at all levels , like before years ago the system worked well , how many domestic workers admitting they had work, and law and order in the old times

    @david & @john, please be honest when talking about rolling blackouts in the CoCT.
    Not every "suburb" in the City's municipal boundaries are protected or even sheltered by a level or two. It is sold to the country that there is a blanket approach, where in fact, much like in Animal farm, some are more equal than others.

    No comment on the green energy deal? What is the DA's stance on energy generation? Especially with relation to COP26/27 and the sovereignty of South Africa. Affordable and stable electricity is critical to a growing economy.

  • @cedricparker945

    I truly believe that the only way that the DA can be elected to govern SA is if Steenhuisen agrees that if they win the general election, they will allow the public to choose the president from a list of four strong and credible black candidates - all of whom support the DA’s core goals and values - and himself. This would be done by a subsequent referendum. Expecting our people to trust a white leader - without any chance of a black president taking the reigns - is an unrealistic step too far
