Invisible Sun has to be my favourite Police song and single. Speaking of darkness. Also the song “Darkness” :-) Ghost In The Machine is worth checking out in its entirety.
The clip definitely has a 'Beyond Thunderdome' feel about it. Great band, great song. What makes Copeland so good is that he is not only a drummer but a master percussionist. He creates insane beats!
No-one has been making music like The Police did since 1983, to be fair. They were a uniquely magical happy accident of amazing talents finding each other at the right time. Andy Sumner had been a working musician, starting as a Jazz guitarist, since the late 1950s with uncommonly broad training and experience working at the top of the game, and Sting was just a prodigy, having that high an ability as a lyric writer, singer and bassist from the beginning.
"A synchronicity in this song could be seen as what is happening at the Scottish loch and what is happening inside "Daddy's" head. The monster is coming out of the water and approaching the cottage. Daddy's despair and futility over his life are boiling to the surface just as he's arriving home. We can only imagine what will happen when he goes into the house."
Copeland has a really Interesting background. Born in Beirut, to a Father who helped to form what became the CIA. Was educated in England at Millfield School, which is what we call a Public (which means private!) school in the UK. It;s a very well and long established place that has turned out a lot of politicians, diplomats, VIP's etc. Copeland is a very well educated and smart man.
The Police are THEEE SHYT!!! SICK. Listen to everything you can get your hands on. Live stuff. B sides. Andy, Steward, Sting. This song...Dystopian opera
I believe the song is about murder. The end speaks on the Loch Ness monster approaching the door of the cottage while simultaneously the father is approaching his family at home thinking “something somewhere has to break “. Two things of the same meaning happening simultaneously......Synchronicity. If you listen to Sting or the Police closely , there is a lot of darkness inside. One of my favorite songs and artists ever.
The song is basically a re-hash of an old Last Exit song called Night at the Grand Hotel which was recorded by Sting’s first band at Pathway Studios in 1976. Much of the police back catalogue is regurgitated from the Last Exit’s back catalogue. Once those songs ran out so did the Police!
@@thewomble1509 lots of Last Exit tracks re-recorded by the police for Outlandos, Regatta, Brimstone and Treacle and Synchronicity. - but can’t think of any others from DOTBT

Keep doing deep dives into The Police. Keep up the channel!
The best band that ever lived... at the ABSOLUTE height of their power, musically and lyrically! 💯😎
Copeland is also one of my fav drummers. This band has so many awesome songs. I think Bring On The Night is my favorite.

Sting is a great songwriter!

That's a good point. Quite a few of the tracks on the "Blue Turtles" album were old Last Exit tunes rehashed.
