we are taking a look at a new system today this is 2d6 dungeon from Dr games, I will leve a bunch of useful links in the description for you guys to see just what is available for the 2d6 system.
Dr games is a UK based family run business ran by Toby & Jo Lancaster. Toby contacted me and asked me to take a look at the system and give him an honest review and whilst there is no payment involved I did get sent all of the things you see before me free of charge. That will of course in no way change my opinions as I have no problem upsetting people.
Firstly I'm going to quickly give you my thoughts on what's good and bad about the game. then I'll be creating a character and talking about the mechanics a little more. then finally i will be showing a quick one room example of the combat mechanics (asi really like how theywork)

2d6 is available as a pdf format as well as paperback and hardback books. Toby also has some great videos explaining the system and the future plans for expansions on his UA-cam channel.
let's talk about the good stuff. 2d6 is a lot of game for very little startup cost, it's a pen and paper system for a solo player, however I would say this system would be amazing for a parent or older sibling to play with their child or younger family member.
One of the things I liked alot was having one character it made me feel much more attached to and effected by the characters experiences. There are already expansions available for the 2d6 system with more planned. I have the core rulebook and the table codex and just those things are enough to get started and keep you adventuring through all 10 levels of the dungeon.
I also have the game cards which aren't necessary but I would highly recommend those. I have the 2 bookmarks and the lairs expansion book. I'm going to put the lairs expansion to one side for now as I think that deserves its very own video.
So 2d6 is already a very well supported system that is something that's going to grow as you play. After playing a test dungeon I've been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of not only the physical quality of the full colour physical products but also by the originality of the system itself, especially the combat system, which we will get to soon.
Not only do you get one character you only get one weapon to use and master unlocking manoeuvres as you go. Now at first this sounded horrendous but it makes for a much more realistic and fun system. I'm very impressed so far and I've decided I'm going to continue a full playthrough on the channelwith the character I create in todays video.
The second book is a codex of random tables and this thing is packed full, it's required to play the main game and to be honest the system itself is quite table heavy, now I really don't mind that as it ensures things are going to be different everytime you play, however some of you may prefer a more tables light adventure. but I'm absolutely OK with the balance and the tables are there to replace a games master and that works incredibly well.
I'd go so far to say that this particular table codex would work well in my d&D sessions.
Overall this is one of the best rpg games I've played in recent times. Affordable, exciting, unique and fun,
Our norse hero forfin wolfspear entered the dimly lit dungeon chamber, the air, heavy with a musty scent, cobwebs cling to the cold stone walls. A skittering horrific spider with a glossy exoskeleton, lurks in one corner. Its long, hairy legs tap ominously on the floor. The multifaceted eyes gleam with a predatory glint. The room is tense, as the skittering horror patiently awaits its next meal.

Darryl, would you like a review copy of What Lies Beneath? It's a dark solo dungeon-crawler that combines a choose-your-own-path narrative with novel dice mechanisms. You'd only need to print a single page (the character sheet) and use 6D6 to play through the hyperlinked PDF.
Thankyou for the offer but I only play using physical products, I find it very difficult to use pdf's and prefer old school books. I wish you well with your game, it sounds great 👍

Nice review, it might have been good to 'fudge' a loger combat to show the effects of Fatigue die, but I'm sure you'll cover that in the longer playthrough video👍
Yeah the combat ended rather quickly 🤣 I'm sure much tougher fights will be showcased as I venture through the dungeon. Thanks for watching. 👍
I am interested to see how this game plays out. Might be a fun one for my son and I.
I definitely think the game is set up well for you to be sort of the dungeon master playing all the monsters and describing events as your son ventures through the dungeon levels. I thought about trying this put with my nephew when I see him next. 👍

Im a 4ad / d100 player so enjoy 2d6 was automatic right ? yes , but i gonna say that the combat system is amazing , played and loved , so now we have another one paired with this 2 beasts of the solo gems 4ad and d100 ... nice game to fund theses days !!!!
