Laine before injury problems and scenery was a top 3 goal scorer in the league. The biggest bust out of the top 5 is Puljujarvi. Juolevi it's hard to tell due to constant injuries, but he's good when healthy. Out of the top 10, Alexander Nylander was pretty brutal. Bigger than Puljujarvi? Considering the picks behind, I'd say Puljujarvi for sure because Tkachuk went 6th, Keller 7th, then Nylander, then Sergachev, McAvoy 14th, Chychrun 16th, Tage Thompson 26th, Kyrou 35th, DeBrincat 39th, Hronek 53rd, Adam Fox 66th, Bratt 162nd. Speaking of the Columbus Blue Jackets, since you did a video on the failures of Toronto and Buffalo, how about one on CBJ. After all, this team has been a total dumpster fire from day one. Key issues include frequent coaching changes, injuries-losing 545 man-games in 2022-2023-and poor performance in critical game moments, particularly in the third period, where they have the league's worst goal differential this season. Despite a roster featuring talents like Johnny Gaudreau and Patrik Laine, the team has failed to translate potential into consistent success, reflecting ongoing organizational challenges and unmet expectations. The Columbus Blue Jackets have experienced several notable draft disappointments, particularly in the early 2000s. Key busts include: * Nikolai Zherdev (4th Overall, 2003): Despite his talent, Zherdev's tenure was marred by attitude issues and a contract dispute, leading to his trade after just five seasons. * Nikita Filatov (6th Overall, 2008): Highly touted, Filatov struggled with defensive play and was often a healthy scratch, ultimately leaving the NHL after a brief stint. * Gilbert Brule (6th Overall, 2005): Brule failed to meet expectations, playing only 195 games with minimal impact. These selections highlight the franchise's challenges in maximizing draft potential despite numerous high picks. The Columbus Blue Jackets' lack of playoff success stems from several key factors: 1. Injury Issues: The team has historically struggled with injuries, losing significant player time, exemplified by 545 man-games lost in the 2022-2023 season, which severely impacts performance and consistency. 2. Coaching Instability: Frequent changes in coaching staff have hindered the establishment of a cohesive team identity and strategy, leading to inconsistent play. 3. Tactical Problems: Current tactics emphasize a northward breakout approach that often results in turnovers and ineffective offensive setups, complicating zone entries and reducing scoring opportunities. 4. Player Performance: Underperformance from key players, such as Johnny Gaudreau, has contributed to offensive struggles, with the team ranking low in goals scored. These elements combine to create a challenging environment for achieving playoff success. So Septic Hockey, here’s a project for you to do. I’ll look forward to it!
Columbus got screwed with expansion draft rules when they came, especially being they had to share with the Wild? (I think it was) who also came in that year. Couple that with horrible draft lottery results and it makes the bill that much steeper to get ahead. They have blame too in their draft busts
I was also amazed by the guy’s constant desire to play as you’ve highlighted how he used to play 82 games every year. He’ll also go to every World Championship they ask him to including this year’s. We all believe him to be lazy but he clearly likes to play and for free in the summer! Maybe he only likes to play on his own terms, where no one shoves or hits him
if bergevin was still around, he absolutely would have done it. i know this, because he is blake's assistant in LA, presiding over the self-destruction of that team. imagine if they had spent that money on a competent goalie instead. now their tandem is a washed up darcy kuemper and big sieve dave. they still have not addressed their biggest weakness in any meaningful way, and it will cost them a playoff spot this year. when we acquired dach, PLDiva sat in his chair and pouted like the bitch he is.
JLD was just going to be a J.Drouin, part 2 and I tried to be patient with a man suffering from depression. I've lived it for 25 years but when think of this for a second. I nominate Drouin/Sergachef as the worst trade in team history. I did that before the Cup finals, where a tradeback of those 2 (healthy) players cost us a Stanley Cup! I'm glad we will never know for sure but when you haven't played a playoff game in 3, feels like 5 years... You have a lot of free time to think, 'what if?' Man, we got fleeced and now he goes somewhere else and starts playing like the player who we traded for...(French swearing omitted)! Respect mes amis. Stevie B
Leaving hockey out of it its hard to blame the guy. He hit the lottery in terms of money hes made. If someone falls out of love with accounting or being a lawyer or a garbage man noone cares, its a job.
the contract is the fault of blake and bergevin in LA. they should have known better. you do not give a long term contract or significant money to a player with known attitude problems, and PLDiva's are so obvious you can see them from space. i don't blame him for signing it, i blame him for his attitude and effort level, and he certainly deserves blame for that. if he doesn't like the game anymore, he should retire. if he wants to continue being paid, then he should put forth the effort, because that's what he's being paid to do. at any rate, he needs to grow the fuck up.
We'll see if 'Kirby's Adventure' part 2 Will go better than his...a...benching last year. Fun fact: On the Original Nintendo Entertainment system, there were only a few games issued in English and French. Kirby was one of them. Good Omen but if he shows up to camp, looking like a gob of O-Pee-chee, chewing Gum, I give fellow fans permission to start crying! LOL GHG!
LA paid high for PLD. At least they got rid of him, but they can't get the other players back. I guess PLD just wants the perfect environment to keep motivated. Otherwise, he'd just be floating around. It's sad to see such a talent goes to waste. Best wishes in WSH.
The shipped out a lazy player in exchange for another lazy player. I will never understand how people actually think Laine is still worth 8 + million a year. I am glad the Habs ignored PLD. The rebuild would not be helped bringing in someone so lazy. Even if he wanted to stay in Winnipeg it would never happen as it appears Hellebuyck would not resign if PLD stuck around. Neither PLD or Lazy Laine will ever be worth the price tag they want to demand as mentally both simply are not willing to put in the effort to justify that.
The kid needs to get his head straight. Good video but not what I was expecting, personally I have just been losing my love for the game. Almost 60 and haven't skated for 11 yrs. I gave all I had to the game trying to get to the show but never made it. I consider it a good day when I can just get out of bed and only need one pain med. I could list all the injuries but I'm sure you all know. now I don't even enjoy watching the game due to the adds and I know some are going to be calling me out saying there not that bad I'm over reacting but NO. There has been many times I get motion sickness watching some games and maybe it's from playing as my vision is on the whole screen seeing where the puck may go who's open ect, I just don't have tunnel vision to focus on one player, moving adds during play just sucks. He's a selfish pos, but man what were the Jets thinking?? Trading a better player in Laine, AND trading a good second liner for him? Both players could've gone 1 for 1.
There's nothing more infuriating that seeing a player with loads of skill and talent, but with almost no work ethic. Dude looks like he just gave up after a while.
Teemu Selanne I got to be honest he was good almost every single year here's where the two align Teemu Selanne first season career high didn't go anywhere close to that again Patrick went downhill from the rookie season as well just not in a so good way
It's sad to see someone blessed with all that natural ability squander it when you're someone like myself who has the passion and work ethic to appreciate it. It's so disrespectful to all those with the dead dreams of being a pro hockey player, and even more so to God who made it possible
Seems like another athlete that worked hard to make it to the pros and thinks he doesn't have to try so hard now. What happened to the days when someone like that would get sent to the minors as a wakeup call? Why should he try when he keeps getting rewarded for his current effort?
These players THINK they are better than they really are.I would have taken Heart(MT).In fact,I would have DON CHERRY sitting in with our team making picks
The majority of talented people are lazy. It comes with the territory of things coming easier for them. The NHL is the select few who are talented and worked hard (and had some luck). As such, we are really used to seeing and expecting players to work hard, or at least be committed to the game. PLD is the rare case of a guy that is talented enough that he can play in the NHL while being a diva who doesnt care about his teammates or about winning. Perhaps there was a time that he did care and did work hard, but those days are in the rearview mirror. Maybe he can turn it around like JT Miller did going to Vancouver. I give it less than 2 years
Poison for the room same as laine
Jets won the trade. Both of them.
Habs dodged a canon
Great vid! Although hockey is probably a harder game to play than baseball imo
I still can't believe the Kings got out of that horrible contract
Glad Montreal did not fall for him
if bergevin was still around, he absolutely would have done it. i know this, because he is blake's assistant in LA, presiding over the self-destruction of that team. imagine if they had spent that money on a competent goalie instead. now their tandem is a washed up darcy kuemper and big sieve dave. they still have not addressed their biggest weakness in any meaningful way, and it will cost them a playoff spot this year.
when we acquired dach, PLDiva sat in his chair and pouted like the bitch he is.
Still would rather have him then pullijarvi
I think if he would have stayed in Winnipeg his career would be different, then again if he was picked at 5 would this still be the same video?
then anytime PLDiva and virtanen were on the same line, the canucks would have been 3v5, because both are/were lazy shits.
You have a lot of free time to think, 'what if?'
Man, we got fleeced and now he goes somewhere else and starts playing like the player who we traded for...(French swearing omitted)!
Respect mes amis.
Stevie B
caps got rid of kuzy to get his 2.0😂
Leaving hockey out of it its hard to blame the guy. He hit the lottery in terms of money hes made. If someone falls out of love with accounting or being a lawyer or a garbage man noone cares, its a job.
Refreshing to see something like this in the comments.
the contract is the fault of blake and bergevin in LA. they should have known better. you do not give a long term contract or significant money to a player with known attitude problems, and PLDiva's are so obvious you can see them from space. i don't blame him for signing it, i blame him for his attitude and effort level, and he certainly deserves blame for that.
if he doesn't like the game anymore, he should retire. if he wants to continue being paid, then he should put forth the effort, because that's what he's being paid to do.
at any rate, he needs to grow the fuck up.
I was today years old when I found out JD left StL for Columbus...
Lol i was hoping he would slip to Vancouver that year haha we screwed up our own pick anyway smh 😢
We'll see if 'Kirby's Adventure' part 2
Will go better than his...a...benching last year.
Fun fact: On the Original Nintendo Entertainment system, there were only a few games issued in English and French.
Kirby was one of them.
Good Omen but if he shows up to camp, looking like a gob of
O-Pee-chee, chewing Gum, I give fellow fans permission to start crying! LOL
GHG!
Now that he’s a capital (my favorite team), I feel like this is his last chance
I thought for sure this video would be about Johnny gaudreau
Alexandre Daigle 2.0
But still easily not the biggest bust in his draft year.
when daigle came back, he actually gave an effort and was competent defensively. much more drama around PLDiva.
Thank yulla ullmark nixed the trade to the Kings for him
they make that trade and the bruins lose to the leafs in the first round.
exactly
LA paid high for PLD. At least they got rid of him, but they can't get the other players back. I guess PLD just wants the perfect environment to keep motivated. Otherwise, he'd just be floating around. It's sad to see such a talent goes to waste. Best wishes in WSH.
Laine and PLD could be cousins or somethin haha
PLD isn't even that bad. There have been way bigger busts before and after his draft year. He wasn't even top 3 worst busts in his draft class.
his attitude and effort level are inexcusable. the talent is there.
Every team he has been traded from has done better after getting rid of him since junior
that is wodd
I bet they regret it now
The kid needs to get his head straight. "When You Lose Passion for the Game You Once Loved".
LOL Leafs
He could be worse. He could of went to L.A. ,
Just to become an actor!
Google Alexandra Daigle.
Sorry Ottawa. Most of us fell for that fool.
Imagine Lindross but not even trying to back it up.
Hmm, do I smell a next video idea? That could be fun, for everyone not living in the nation's Capital.
Take care and great video btw!!
He's a selfish pos, but man what were the Jets thinking?? Trading a better player in Laine, AND trading a good second liner for him? Both players could've gone 1 for 1.
Montreal dodge a bullet
PLD is a bum.....He will end up playing for over 14 teams in his career, if it goes past the next two years.
10:06: The Jets should arrested for grand larceny on that trade. Villardi by himself is better than Dubois.
There's nothing more infuriating that seeing a player with loads of skill and talent, but with almost no work ethic. Dude looks like he just gave up after a while.
Teemu Selanne I got to be honest he was good almost every single year here's where the two align Teemu Selanne first season career high didn't go anywhere close to that again Patrick went downhill from the rookie season as well just not in a so good way
5:30
Are you sure that's not footage of Mats Sundin and Pierre Page?
History repeats indeed.
Its pronounced Kuchuk not tuchuck
tomato tomato
@@HecticHockeyin that case it’s tomato komato,
Grow up, guys. No one cares about a silly pronunciation.
@@Biochemedic yeah who cares about a borderline HOF player and 2 sons who also are bona fide NHL players
@@XaviRonaldo0weird name though
It's sad to see someone blessed with all that natural ability squander it when you're someone like myself who has the passion and work ethic to appreciate it. It's so disrespectful to all those with the dead dreams of being a pro hockey player, and even more so to God who made it possible
Athletes put in the work, not some character from a book 2000 years ago
Difference there is JT always cared but simply channeled that energy in unproductive ways until now.
Dubois is a selfish bum. The guy gives just enough to keep the cash flowing.
It's Kachuk not Tachuk
Waste of talent. PLD is a classic example of looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.
Playing in Columbus or Winnipeg is not easy tbh both places are not easy to live in
hes a bum
PLD is the most overrated hockey player of my lifetime.
I've never understood the big deal about this mid at best level player PLD. Dude sucks i could go without ever hearing his stupid name again
