No talking, just driving! Exploring the English Countryside. First of many drives around the Lake District. Starting in Wasdale next to Wastwater Lake we drive over to the town Ambleside driving along an amazing road, the Hardknott Pass, It is a single track road right through the middle of the Lake District, and is very steep and twisting, but great fun. The Hardknott Pass ties with Rosedale Chimney in North Yorkshire for the title of steepest road in England, with both achieving a gradient of 1 in 3 (about 33%). Towards the end it starts to rain heavy as I finish the drive in Ambleside.
My 14th of hopefully many UA-cam Drives.

About Dave's Walks
Hi there, I‘m Dave! I've lived in the English Countryside all my life, and I love it! I enjoy walking, and couldn’t help but notice just how beautiful the UK can be away from the cities. I found myself inspired and decided to get some camera equipment and make some walking videos so I can share my walks of the beautiful countryside with everyone!
I mainly focus on small towns, villages, picturesque landscapes, rolling hills and mountains, forests and canals, all along the coastlines in England, Scotland, Wales, and who knows maybe one day further afar!
I upload every Sunday 11.45am GMT (3.45am PST) (6.45am EST) (5.15pm IST) (9.15pm ACST)

I use the free version of Davinci Resolve 16 to do some really basic editing. Mainly making sure the sky isn't over exposed. It's from Camera straight to UA-cam. No cuts, no fancy business, no talking, just walking.

Anyone else enjoy the rainy videos best? I especially love the rainy walks and hearing the rain drops splatter on the umbrella 😊
The scenery is beautiful in all weathers, looks like my Scotland a little wet!
I drove over it ONCE about 1974 in a Ford Anglia on a hot day. Just got to the top and my radiator bolied over. So I removed the rardiator cap - very slowley..... I swore NEVER AGAIN ! and I havent......But enjoyed riding shot gun with you.
When I tell you Dave mate....that this is my FAVORITE of all your diving videos, that is the understatement of the year. And I Love your driving videos. From choice of location, to choice of route, to the scenery, to the pace of the drive, to the weather, to the sense of adventure in it.....everything is just so absolutely wonderful in this one. All the kudos for this.
This drive was a pleasant surprise I wasn't expecting. Not really knowing the lake district at all, it was just all a lucky coincidence. I fancied filming a walk in Ambleside, thought I would film the drive, and the GPS sent me over the mountains, I had no idea it got that steep and as dramatic only after Googling the route after did I learn it is the steepest road in the UK ( well tied with another road in Yorkshire for the steepest road ) I think it is too my favourite drive I have done to date, and will take some beating! 😊👍
@@DavesWalks - It was perfect in so many ways. I recently watched it on my tv, and it makes for such a wonderful experience. I kept waiting for your vehicle and the oncoming ones to meet in a place where there wasn't a section to pull aside and pass, just to see what happens in those narrow lanes when that occurs,....but you were always lucky enough to have a passing section handy. Lol. It made the drive, quite the adventure.
I too was waiting to hit an impass with someone, was just very lucky for the whole drive, usually it just means reversing until a section where we can tuck the mirrors in and squeeze past.
Awesome rainy day drive Dave. Loving the views!
Thanks Kevin 👍
These videos are brilliant! Good to watch you do the drive before I do, so I know what I’m letting myself in for. Thanks
Really soothing video. A phenomenal experience. Love from India❤
Glad you enjoyed it Nived!😊👍
while watching this i feel like i'm on a date drive around the town with bf that i've never had
Calm and relaxed 😌 it nice watching these videos 📹 thank u 😊
My pleasure 😊
Cool wet ride!
Thank you Vega 😊👍
Not one 'Bear crossing' sign in sight...lol. Beautiful countryside! Hello from Daytona Beach, Florida.
Beautiful weather experienced in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
WOW WHAT A DRIVE, I FEEL A LITTLE SICK NOW.
Beautiful drive, hope to get up there sometime, many thanks for sharing.
Great video. I used to do this drive in the 90's when I went to my dads in the Lakes for the weekend. A very windy road where we had to stop every two minutes for me or my sister to be sick. Ha Ha
Beautiful scenery
Thank you Heri😊👍
a million thanks, my favourite place on earth:)
This is enchanting.
Lovely wet road trip with great weather. Thanks for taking us along.
GTA mode.. love this videos.hi from BALI..
I drove the Hardknott Pass about 40 years ago. BMW R80, 2up, luggage. Twice oncoming traffic, "Uphill has right of way!", the rule probably only exists in the Alps and Dolomites. And stopped in 2nd gear. *Grrr
The second time my pillion descended and walked the rest.
It's like a painting 🖼 it’s so beautiful sight 🌳
Thank you Hoira
@@DavesWalks you’re welcome Dave! I am deeply inspired by your videos. Thank you🙏✨
You've inspired us to take a autumn holiday up there and go and drive this route Dave! We've done a few of your walking routes in the peaks too! Thanks for all the great ideas mate.
It's a pleasure, glad you are inspired! 👍😊
We did it Dave! Was lovely!! Thank you for the idea
Lovely relaxing drive! Makes me homesick!
Love the scenery along with your driving, Dave!
Dear Dave thanks. Travelling in my favourite northern places, we're green thanks to rain. I'm not a motorist. Lancashire lass (before govt decided to call us Merseyside)🕊️
Hasn't changed much since the Roman Legions travelled Hardknott
Well driven despite the rain, and thank you for a delightful journey.
Rain is the main theme to make this video fantastic
I do oddly enjoy the rain every now and again.. Mostly when I don't have to go out in it..
@@DavesWalks LoL walking with an umbrella ☔️ listening to rain drop is one of the most chill moments in my life
One of my very favorite channels, the scenery is always beautiful
Amazing video.
I liked and watched it fully.

Wish you and your family hapiness!

Love to cycle along the forest 🌳
Hermoso día gris para pasear en auto. Me encantaron los caminos recorridos! Gracias! 💖💕

Perfect. I will do it with my Vespa. Thanks for this. Always smiling.
Thanks, dave, what beautiful scenery. I hope there are many more to come. Thank u for the uploads. Keep them coming, lol 😊
Worry not, there are many many more to come 👍😃
Such beautiful hills and cliffs.
Very good! I like this type of weather .Have a nice day.
Thank you! You too!😊👍
Watching this in blistering heat here in Portugal, I feel so much better 😊 Thanks Dave.
Happy to help!
Really enjoyed this drive. I read some Detective series that are in that area and the Dales, to actually see where they are driving is just fantastic. I've driven some in the south around Winchester, but did not get up North, so thanks for the drives. Love the Liquid Sunshine too. Cheers from Texas.
Good driving in nice scenery.
Thanks 👍
O melhor canal!!!
Wow amazing
Love from Pakistan
This is breathtaking . God bless you for this video sir .
Thank you 😊👍
Thank you. Much needed on a hot California October day!
tricky when the sun's not shining. I can't tell whether you're travelling north or south. I try to follow you on a 1997 AA road atlas and spot the road signs of villages you're going through. I need a magnifying glass for both. If you felt like adding the names in the description or annotations along the way... it would be appreciated. cut the speed to half going over the pass to better enjoy the ride.... magnificent
Gosh ! What a ride !
Really nice countryside, love the atmosphere!! from a frenchmen
Those views! Hope you got to do Honister Pass as well.
I did indeed film along the Honister Pass 😊👍
At about 1:22:52 the wipers on your car were not going fast enough to keep up with the rain. Moving to Canada many years ago I still miss that beautiful rain.
This was fantastic, Dave. I don't get out to Cumbria anymore but it's my spiritual home. Brought back many happy memories. Thank you so much. Btw, what car are you driving here? I'm guessing Land Rover or Disco?
A suzuki Vitara.
We're going somewhere. Let's go Dave! Wait, did we just pass a sheep? It seems strange driving on the left side of the road.
It got a bit tight on those back roads did it not! The vehicles keep getting g bigger but the roads do not hehe. Great drive the day 😊
Thanks! there is no background music.
No problem😊👍
What car were you driving?
A Suzuki vitara
@@DavesWalks Ah nice 😻
I would love to try Hardknott pass + Wynrose pass, but bringing my LR3 over might be a bit costly 😜
Where was the starting point?
Wasdale Car Park for Scafell Pike, post code is CA20 1EX 😀👍
I think those guys are upto no good. Sheep rustling.
