Summer 1991, July, no car, no money, no internet, no good shows on TV, nothing to do but relax on the couch and listen to the weather channel talk about how hot it is. And nothing else brings those obscure memories of so simple days back like these tracks.
Same haha. I'm a little younger, probably, but i definitely nerded out to classic TWC in the late 90s as a 3rd/4th grader and never really stopped. I discovered vaporwave about a year ago and was like "oh, guess it wasn't just me"
I keep having to remind myself that it was never simple, never easy, and the thing that makes this hit so hard (aside from being baller) is that it's so nostalgic compared to all the changes in the world since then. I can't let myself stagnate or yearn for a time that does not exist now-- but lord, this hits hard.

This album is such a joy to listen to. It reminds me of the wedding trip me and my family went to in 1991. I was 12 years old. I remember hating the whole trip and I spent one whole day just inside the hotel room. For a whole hour, I was just listening to background smooth jazz music in the local announcement station.
I was heavily listening to this during quarantine and now I have such a strange association to it. It's sad that so many awful things happened in 2020, it was a pretty scary time for me, but it was also the beginning of my journey going back to college. Now, I've officially graduated from college and I'm starting my first professional job in a few weeks. So, there's a huge range of emotions swelling up inside me now as I listen to it. It's stupid because it's just music from the damn Weather Channel, but I can't help but tear up and reminisce listening to it.

This actually feels like Sunday television in the 90s though.
