Hey mate, I’m keen to hear about the setups you use. Been fishing the brissie with a mate all year and still no jew luck as yet. Couple snaps but nothing much, we’re thinking we have the wrong gear. Cheers
To be honest mate the gear you’re using is probably fine. All I mostly run is a 2500TD black on a 1-4kg samaki archer and the other set up is a 3000 Certate on a 6-20lb blade n tails The biggest thing is trying to get your lure in the fishes face in that heavy current, they’ll normally be hard to the bottom. So drifting through areas with a 3/4 ounce jighead should help get the job done.
A great session. Thanks for putting the video up. I’ve got to go back there again. If I get one fish, that will be an improvement on last time. You mentioned the sweet spot of the tide. What is it in your terms?
Thanks mate. And good question, it’s definitely dependent on what I’m chasing. But for jewies and snapper for instance as long as the tide is ripping in either direction of high or low tide is ‘good’. I find for a lot of the deeper stretches of the river that last half the run out ‘excellent’. You’ve got all the bait trapped in the main channels with no where else to go.
HI Josh, love the vid mate, the river is getting better every day, what brand is the soft shell prawn mate, i didn't catch the name. Cheers Chris keep up the good work.
Hi Josh, i had a trip down the Brisie,River yesterday went up to the Gateway first thing, right on low tide picked up 1, small jew about 58cm, then back down both sides, on the ledges fish were showing and the bait, but could not get a hit another boat was there as well and we had a chat, he said first thing he hooked something he said felt like a Threadie but the hooks pulled half way through the fight, he picked up a tailor and so did we nice size to meanwhile we had a troll around and picked up 4 . flathead best one 67cm, so no jew,no snaps, (they were safe) so what do you think mate moon, wrong unlucky, or just ,Shit happens, just wondering what you think. Cheers Chris
nice work bud, im new to fishing in the river, i would love to follow you out and you teach my son and I a little how to catch a jew fish. we want to catch one so badly haha
Good editing when you say it’s been 2 hours since you caught anything, but you keep on fishing, and just show the catching, love it 👍
Thanks mate 👍 gotta be honest cause so many people think it’s easy 😅 sometimes it can be hours between fish
