  • Erlenmeyer (Conical) flasks are some of the most distinct chemistry glassware. In this video I show how you can make them from start to finish in Blender and get something relatively photoreal using Cycles (all of the same modeling and modifier setup will work for Eevee as well).
    If you don't want to make your own but want access to a whole set of flasks you can also check out the models I've made, which are available for free on gumroad: gum.co/GisYv

    This is a great channel! Great to see more scientists out there visualizing science! Keep up the good work!

    Great videos mate! Could you make one for a porous carrier/capsule loaded with material (like molecules)? Keep it up!

      Thanks. I've definitely made some capsules loaded with materials before - pills filled with spheres type of images and could make a tutorial on that. What did you have in mind for a porous carrier? Something like a cell membrane, maybe a battery separator layer? I'm open to suggestions.

    hey man this is so usefull, thankyou so much! next can you make tutorial about liquid in blender?

    • @CGFigures

      Hey Kang, thanks. Liquid is a funny subject because it can be simulated or shaded or just pure trickery. I recommend Part 3, Level 3 of Blender Guru's new beginner series which covers liquid shading very thoroughly.

    thank you again for the great video. I have one question, I'm not sure you have any info about that. I tried to import the above Erlenmeyer into PowerPoint as a 3d object. I saved it as fbx in Blender and imported it into PowerPoint as 3d object but PowerPoint doesn't show the gauge and also the glassy material. do you know how I can fix this issue?

      I'm sorry I can't be of more help here. I've never imported 3D objects into power point.

    blevel not going well its just increasing the width below the circle instead of going upper

      This was a problem that was recently brought to my attention. I thought it was a scaling issue (Ctrl+A and Apply Scale before beveling). The last person who had an issue with this just started over and for some reason it worked the second time. I'm not entirely sure why at this time but hopefully that helps.

    Hey, I really hope you're reading this because it is driving me crazy. When I try to bevel, exactly like you do in the video at 01:45, nothing happens. It bevels inwards and not up and outwards, so basically I create more edge/vertices inside the bottom of my Erlenmeyer.
    Can you please help me with this?

    • @CGFigures
      @CGFigures  2 роки тому +2

      Hey Omar, if I understand what you're describing it sounds like the scale is off. Try going into object mode, hitting Ctrl+A and applying the scale. Then go back into edit mode and try to bevel again. Hopefully that will resolve the issue.

      @@CGFigures Thanks a lot. I tried that before you mentioned it, but didn't work. So I created my object again, and it did.

      I set my sizes to very high values such as 64 m diameter bc the references said "64 mm diameter for a 100 ml Erlenmeyer and a height of 105 mm" and I wanted to simplify the units while editing somewhat. When I did that, the bevelling never worked. Once I worked with 0.64 m instead, it all worked perfectly. It seems that Blender fucks up when you have big sizes of objects bc the editing tools don't scale proportionally correctly. If this is a bug or intended behaviour idk. All I know is that applying the scale didn't work.

    • @CGFigures
      @CGFigures  2 роки тому

      @@franzmeier4472I've definitely experienced similar situations. I originally made all my glassware assets at x10 scale and then shrunk them. All the modifiers have to be changed separately though. Blender isn't always the most friendly when you want to work on smaller scales.

    • @CGFigures
      @CGFigures  3 роки тому

      Hi Avi, if you get the models from gumroad you should be able to unpack the textures from the nodes and then save them to your own computer if you want to modify them.
