I had my surgery after ankle fracture and ankle dislocation. Metal plates in both side and 14 screws in ankle area. Tibia bone healed with in 3 weeks. I had tremendous pain in Fibula and warm and tender feeling and scab for 4 months and the dr did not interfere with that with any antibiotics. Only the normal dosage in the day of the surgery. Now 10.months after surgery and the Fibula not connected yet
@@khaledfkry5541 that’s very disappointing, after 10 months! How are you now feeling? I too broke my ankle and am casted. It’s very frustrating! Fibula and malleolar fractures.

@@khaledfkry5541 thanks ! They ve put me in an airboot so I can take it off at night and move the foot more. 11 months sounds like a long time for fibula not to have fused yet! And you shouldn’t be having pain..! Must tell your surgeon about it. I am only a month post and no pain anymore. Well not while walking on crutches actually. But I was told I should be pain-free once all heals. I try to rest more and do eat healthy. I also take collagen capsules and Vit K which pushes calcium into the bones. Keep up the recovery and hope all goes well for you soon
Closed fracture And dislocated/broken ankle. 6 days after surgery. Casted and I have screws, plates, etc. No weight bearing for 8 weeks. Focusing on recovery and keeping foot elevated. Only do bathroom and take meds. Age 56, slipped on a wet mat in the yard.
Broke my ankle in 3 places simply walking. Emergency room doctor said the orthopedic doctor couldn’t operate because I needed a specialist. A week later I had surgery. I had a cast put on 2 weeks after surgery. That lasted a week. It was too tight around my ankle. They removed it along with my stitches. I was scheduled to be in the cast for 2 weeks, so It was removed a week early and I was put in a non weight bearing boot 24/7. It’s been 8 weeks since my accident and I was just given the green light to start physical therapy. I’m anxious to get started. This was a difficult injury for me. I’m a mature woman and giving up independence, being stationary, and experiencing pain was new to me. I’m fortunate I have a supportive family and a great surgeon. Shout out to Dr. Kirstina Olson of UCSF Hospital.
I just found out that I'm not allergic to the screws in my leg and don't have to get surgery again. Happy feet.❤ To all struggling.. God heals To the doctors and nurses thanks 🙏
I can’t believe I watched the whole video! Most if it’s over my head, but having had surgery for 3 broken bones, tri mel..something (don’t know med. terms) was curious about the hardware chosen, tests, etc. Maybe they should’ve mentioned the metal being substandard & breaking, requiring additional surgery. It was on 60 Minutes, I think. Cheaper metal was used unbeknownst to medical staff, incl. surgeons.
I’m in a boot right now 1wk. Cant wear because my ankle is fracture and when the boot is on ,worst then with out,I’m going back to Urgent Care in the morning!!they me on 3- scrips T-3 /. cord, something else!!
I broke my fibula running 5 weeks ago, no evidence of displacement in the first Xray performed 3 days post fracture. I was given a boot and crutches, NWB for 1 week, increasing WB after that progressively. 5 weeks in I'm still in pain. I'm 35.
I requested privately a MRI a week ago to further investigate it, rule out other fractures, displacement that could have been missed due to the initial swelling (they didn't repeat the XRAY) and check the state of the soft tissue, apart from confirm the healing of the fibula itself. I'm a nurse
Have had a bad fall recently. Barefoot on hard rock, the other was saved by water and sand fortunately. So I wasn't full body weight, the body weight, after impact rotated freely, and basically went into the water. Initial xray didn't show clear heal fracture, but er said the heel was broken. I'm now thinking the radiologist (in Ontario Canada the radiologist is 3rd party and notifies referring doctor, they said go er for cast. But I was instead referred to otho surgeon who wants to plate and screw reduce my heel. But even the CT doesn't really show any major fracture, just contusion.. i.e. the cubuod calcaneus joint area has fragmentation.. all relative tendons are probably snapped and major soft tissue damage. 2 weeks later. Still no weight bearing. Pinky side tendons are most tender, followed by area above cuboid, and then plantar, then lower Achilles area.. heel does have some axial pain.. like when I push from fat pad, upwards, but not much. Should I have the heel reduced? I'd prefer to heal, then possibly work on ligaments. Or some bone surgery if necessary, but wait for healing?
