Hi, your video was very informative and I followed it to build my bar with glass blocks/tiles. But I am not sure how to securely place a glass countertop on top of the glass bar I built. I see lots of photos in various sites of glass or granite countertops on glass block structures. If you have any solutions on this issue please send me a note, thanks.
Most people don’t realize how many trade restrictions exist inside the United States. Every special interest group tries to get special protection from competitors. One example of how these trade restrictions negatively impact the vitality of the American economy is glass blocks, like the ones shown in this video. The glass block factory is under orders to make the worst glass blocks possible. The blocks must be ugly and expensive, so that they don’t compete with window companies. In truth, glass blocks can be beautiful. They could easily make glass blocks which are crystal clear, and four feet by four feet in size. A large glass block contains about two dollars worth of glass, and requires almost no labor to produce. So Home Depot could sell them for less than twenty dollars. But Anderson Windows would be be unhappy about that. Anderson Windows cost five hundred dollars. And it’s the same story with our cars, and our food, and our gasoline. Everything is frozen by trade restrictions. So we’ve got to get rid of the trade unions, the bribe taking congressmen, and the trade restrictions all at the same time. Glass blocks are so cheap that you could build houses out of them.
Having built hundreds of glass block windows using glass block mortar, i am interested in trying the silicon application using the channels, but have never been able to find a video demonstrating how you go about putting the last corner block in the channel. Are you some how placing the top channel in after laying up the wall and then fasting the framing to it? And if so how would you go about screwing in the channel with an already finished opening say into a masonry wall?
You must like the heat. Ever been to Beijing airport? Most of that structure is glass all around. The airport was so humid and hot and the AC couldn’t do anything about it. Either that or the Chinese did not have AC on. Either way it was hell.
Can I also put grout in the cracks? Im building this in side my shower for the window so i want to prevent any water from getting in the cracks. Should I grout it?? thanks
Great video, thanks Hank. Would be great to see how you fit these snugly into an existing opening.

I want to install l e d lights in mine
Is it as strong as concrete pound for pound. It would be cool to make a shed out of glass blocks.
very possible that the joint is that strong but the glass block isn't

In the UK "caulk" means acrylic filler. I assume that in the USA it means something else? Silicone?
Caulk in USA could be any variety in a tube
In this case
100% adhesive silicone

This video wasn’t very helpful
There isn’t a link for the track website
The white plastic in between looks like shit.
A guy from Massachusetts should never say the word "caulk" on camera....lmao
Gotta caulk my block 😏
There is a muscle on the front of the knee cap. It is good to use a kneeling pad.
