"Ghandi ate more than this!"
No matter how many times Ive seen this movie, that line gets me every time.
30 years later and my mother still says that line.
I never realized how much of a part Robin played in my childhood from Hook, Aladdin, Jumanji, Mrs Doubtfire, Patch Adams, Bicentennial Man, Flubber and so many more like Robots, Fern Gully and Happy Feet. I love you Robin Williams😇😢
Don’t forget the “Night At the Museum” franchise.
a one other underrated film Popeye, though I'm sure no one like or heard it and know he played the main character
@@sharkracingfanpage8364 I've seen that movie and I liked it. Robin was spot on with playing as Popeye. I really wanna see that movie again sometime.
Popeye too
Yeah. He definitely had a significant impact on most 90s kids movie going experiences. Particularly the first half of the 90s.
“Near-sighted gynecologist.” Easily the best zinger of the whole duel.
Gee whiz! I wonder what other lame insults Peter had in store for Rufio that weren't even insults at all?
Cool pfp dude
Don’t forget “substitute chemistry teacher” and “math tutor”
Prison barber Lol
Without a doubt!
As adults, we must acknowledge that Peter’s roast game was actually pretty strong
Crazy strong
Right right, it kind of hurts now 😂
I’M A LAWYER!! 😂
@@sundeepkuntimad5339 Kill the lawyer!
Nearsideed gynocoligist 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love that "substitute chemistry teacher" was devastating enough to cause them to take it so seriously.
What's wrong with teaching chemistry?
When Prince Zuko challenges the Genie to an insult competition.
That’s Zuko?!
@@mushroomhead3619 Yep. You see, Dante Basco portrays both Zuko AND Rufio
Even My Cartoon Crush: Jake Long from American Dragon: Jake Long 😍🥰😘
He didn't challenge a genie, he challenged Alan
Woah I never realized that lol
“I’ll tell ya what a paramecium is, THAT THAT’S A PARAMECIUM!! it’s a one celled critter with no brain and CANT FLY!! Don’t mess with me man, I’M A LAWYER!!” best line in the whole movie XD
Banning banning banning banning
I love that faint crowing after he slices the coconut. It’s very much like this movies version of “he’s beginning to believe.”
Amazing point out
That's my favorite part of this scene. Memory is coming back. And he notices it. Goosebumps hearing that crow.
Morpheus when he was a youth.
"You think that's food you're eating now?"
“You are the spoon”
Still one of the best Speilberg movies. And Robin's too
Agreed!!
Well I think Christopher Columbus has a way of brining the magic to films... Harry Potter 1&2. Home Alone... And many more!
Too bad Spielberg thinks its one of his weakest.
I agree
Robin is like a god
What's brilliant is that despite Rufio being antagonistic to Peter for most of movie, he was instrumental in bringing out Peter's inner child. He brought Peter to his breaking point, until Peter realized the only way to beat Rufio was to bring himself down to Rufio's level, the level of a child. Once he begins playing along, that's when he discovers the magic lying dormant within.
Even Rufio was impressed by how Peter split that coconut in half with his sword. He was beginning to think, "Hmmmm. This guy isn't so bad. Maybe I was wrong about him. He just might be the Pan after all."
@Wayne MacFarland It's unknown what Rufio was thinking because after Peter split the coconut with the sword, Rufio was not seen again until the scene where Peter learned to fly where that persuaded Rufio to know that Peter really was the Pan after all. Especially when Rufio gave Peter's sword back to him, he said "you are the Pan."
@@afriendofbean He was probably hiding his shame. Didn't want to admit himself wrong until he saw that Peter could fly.
@@waynemacfarland1546 Maybe that could be true because when the Lost Boys and Rufio first saw Peter, they all assumed he wasn't the Pan since Rufio drew a line on the ground with the sword telling them whoever thinks Peter is not the Pan, to cross the line and everyone except Pockets crossed the line either because he was going along with what Tinkerbell believed or he saw something in Peter that looked the same in Peter's childhood. Plus, when they all started seeing something that he could be the Pan, Rufio started getting jealous explaining he's got Pan's sword making him the Pan where he made the kids cross back over on his side back and forth. But I'm guessing the kids were staying on Peter's side after some encouragement from Pockets saying if Tinkerbell believes he's the Pan, maybe he is and that they should given him a chance where even Tinkerbell said to give Peter a chance.
@@afriendofbean Just because Rufio had Peter's sword doesn't make him the Pan. Peter still regained his glory as the Pan with or without the sword.
@@waynemacfarland1546 That's right. After Peter was gone from Neverland, Rufio claimed himself as the Pan taking the sword for himself being the oldest Lost Boy when Peter was actually the oldest. The only reason Peter learned that he's the Pan, who he really was, and that Neverland was his childhood home because of Tinkerbell where Peter had a home in some cave along with his uncle Toodles, his grandma Wendy, and his brothers John and Michael. Here in this scene probably the reason they are all looking at him after he broke the coconut with the sword was because they were happy he completed one of the steps to know what and who he is which was to fight since the three steps for him was to know how to fly, fight, and crow. They were going to teach him how to crow by stealing Hook's hook but he failed in getting it but Tinkerbell must have encouraged some help and helped him to fly with a happy thought.
Rest In Peace Robin Williams (1950-2014)

Be honest, as a kid you always wanted to eat those desserts.
So did I and I still do now at the age of 33.
I've eaten an entire tub of frosting before, probably tastes the same.
The rooster crow at 4:40 was a nice touch. It symbolized that Peter is slowly getting closer to becoming who he was.
Yeah its kinda like a memory from the past that the audience heard on his thoughts.
For example, when someone in a movie tells a story about something from the past, you can hear sounds based on what was going on at the time.
Chills
What I love is the sound of the swords echoing ring. Turns out it was the same sound for ET's magic touch...clever Easter Egg Speilberg.
I always thought it had such a haunting sound, also. It's like reviving a ghost, the spirit of his former self. **chef's kiss**
All followed by that satisfyingly clean cut.
“SUBSTITUTE CHEMISTRY TEACHER” 😭💀 🤣
LOL
Absolutely roasted lmao

Zuko spitting fire at the Genie without using any fire bending

"If I'm a maggot burger, why don't you just eat me?!" LOL

When he hit that coconut...it was like seeing our favorite athlete come out of retirement and display a flash of greatness that we remember. That was the look they had.
Did anybody else notice the subtle ET Finger Ring sound effect when Peter puts the sword up at 4:50 ? Nice touch Steven and props to the sound design on this movie. Wonderful.
The second-worst burn that Dante Basco received from a father figure
@robertlee2976 I now reconise his voice, he was Zuko in Avatar the last Airbender
😂
“Near-sighted gynecologist.” Ow! That would hurt anybody
As a kid that food fight looked awesome! As an adult it just pisses me off all the food getting wasted...
@The_Classics I'm sure they could make food magically appear any time by using their imaginations.
Do you really think that's real food? I think they would've used cheaper alternatives then real food with actual good flavor.
I guess you left your imagination back at childhood
It's only imaginary food
You grew up
From what I gather Speilberg's main biff with this film is that he looks back on it and wishes he would have made it a musical. I think that would've taken away from the dramatic effect of the scenes and given the film a cheesier tone. I'm not a multi-millionaire with tons of top credentials to my name, but that is my opinion. I'm glad it wasn't a musical.
I agree. Besides, musicals work better on stage, because at the end of a song, you're met with applause. But in movies, we just get awkward silence.
@@princessbeaniewiggle I dunno, that didn't stop them from making incredible musical films in the early to mid-20th century.
Ugh, what a nightmare that would have been.
Agreed, I generally can’t stand live action musical films. If it isn’t animated or theater, it shouldn’t be a musical.
@@spencergsmith - you & I have the exact same feelings about musicals. I do enjoy going to the theatre and seeing one or seeing one as an animation. But as far as going to the theater, I'd rather not.
The moment that we see actual food, my heart drops and brings back memories, plus it feels like you are part of it
This film has a lot of great scenes but 2:21 has to be the greatest moment in the movie.
The paramecium part is the most memorable to me for some reason.
"OH RUFIO? WHY DON'T JUST GO SUCK ON A DEAD DOGS NOSE!
This scene is etched to my soul. I first watched this around 1996, movies back then takes years before it reached the VHS stores in our country.
Movies back then use to touch ur soul
Even in the United States it felt like ages until a movie reached VHS and I bet ya to some degree it was artificial because it was SO long (at least to my kid brain) possibly to boost ticket sales. I grew up watching many videos that my grandfather effectively screen recorded from live TV, so I’m sure you can imagine it was even longer until the movie progressed to actual TV anyone could watch
“In your face camel-cake!!”… “In your ear cow-derrière” 🤣😭

I will never forget the feeling when hearing the crowing, you know that there's more to peter underneath...
I came here looking for this kind of comment. Strikes a nerve with me hearing that crowing. Neverland is reconnecting to Peter.
4:50 man i love that so much. The sword Sound Like Pan awakes in him

Prince Zuko vs adult Ang.

Robin Williams: "near sighted gynaecologist."
Steven Spielberg: "cut! Great take Robin."
Robin Williams: "you think we can get away with that one?"
Steven Spielberg: "sure, we'll just have to bribe the MPAA more than usual."
I was screaming at my parents when I was a little boy like them. "Pleeeeeeease can we have a Table like this???" :DDDDDDDD
3:58 Spielberg spoke "Action!".... - an then, hell broke lose on the set :-D
My favourite part 😍
Actually the last two throws at the kids before it went crazy was thrown by Robin and Steven themselves at the kids. They all laughed on set and Robin told the camera "Every parent in the world should do that to their kids." XD
"You lude crude bag of pre-chewed food dude" 😂
The removal of comment sections on every thing labeled for kids is depressing. I'm happy this one is still here.

This is one of my favorite movies from my childhood. It was beyond excellent! The 90s was a great time for a kid to grow up in!
Rest in peace Robin Williams we all miss you
Some of these insults are just funnier watching this as adults because you get the meaning behind them more.
Robin Williams calling a kid a nearsighted gynecologist will live rent free in my head until the day I die 😂
God I remember being a kid and watching this the day it came out. Rewatching the movie since then brings back so many childhood memories. BANGARANG!!!!!!!!!!!

The chess looks great too
So do I
2:42 gave me the goosebumps when I was amazed with this scene 😀😀
4:42 Nice touch with the rooster crow after Peter slices the coconut. I’ve seen this movie many times, but just barley noticed this.
Miss this scene rip Robin
4:40 : The foreshadowing of the crowing in the background.
Robin Williams is who the Avatar Ang grew up to be. When I was a kid it seemed as though everything he touched turned to gold. Good memories.
That’s appropriate considering Ruffio was played by the voice actor for Prince Zuko

They don’t make movies like this anymore 😥 RIP Robin Williams!
Peter really cut that coconut in half with a sword
No... he didnt.... the coconut wasn't actually there. The point was that Peter was so caught up in the joy of imagination that he had forgotten that he...chose violence as a solution....? That can't be right....I might be too jaded and probably need to watch this again...
