i went to new york, and had pizza in new york. the experience was really fun. i saw a lot of stuff and ate a lot of food but the highlight of the journey was the pizza from some random pizza joint. it was a really interesting experience because in the midwest everything is calm and spread out, in new york (and this was the first time ive been in new york) it's all dense and active! i really liked it i wish i could be there more tbh.
i actually had a lot more to say in this video, but i cut it down because i ran out of time and needed to post today for CONTRACT REASONS which is not fun or preferable. I have been working on posting more but somehow always always always run up against some deadline. I am going to implement a new strategy where I am making a little bit of content every day instead of planning a ton and then making a lot of content all at once. idk what's the solution, but hopefully this workflow will be better for me. I just want to very casually make a video and be like "hey i was in ny had pizza was a good time" or "hey i did this thing here's what happened funny jokes bla bla bla" and not have it be once every one or two months. idk im just venting at this point. just know that i really appreciate you checking out the video even though my posts are super spotty, it's really helpful.

As an italian citizen i ensure you that pizza is totally different from american pizza, like is completely something else, but not what you could think, actually saw many americans not liking italian pizza and italian hate american pizza ( like all the 19 Domino's in italy failed cause everyone was hating on them and no one gone in one)
On one hand, Domino's is not known for good pizza in the US.
On the other hand, you'll sometimes hear "Pizza is like sex. If it's good, it's _great,_ and if it's bad... it's still pretty good."
So I'm not sure what to think.

My best pizza experience happend in Chicago. I once went to an Italian restaurant that was actually located in the real basement of a real Italian-American family's ordinary house located in a residential neighborhood. Deeeep dish pizza! They (supposedly) made it with local garden-grown tomatoes, peppers, garlic, onions, etc., and the sausage came from the local butcher shop, stretchy cheese from the local cheese shop, and had thick hand-tossed dough, all baked fresh in their residential kitchen's oven. Not cheap. Just the best. Having the house Mama serve it in her basement-converted-to-underground-restaurant with her genuine fresh-off-the-boat Italian accent made the experience that much more awesome.

As someone born and raised in NYC, I am thoroughly impressed by your desire and dedication. I’ve never had a BAD slice here, but somehow those hole in the wall pizzerias always hit different.
I love going to hole-in-the-wall food places, the food is either great and memorable, or the food is shit but you saw something weird while there.
I once went to a pizza place when I was '16' and it was the tastiest thing I've ever had. I remember the pizza there was the tastiest I have ever had, and that I wanted to bring a friend there later after the business trip was over. The next time we went, the place was shut down, and when we asked someone what happened, they said that someone had been putting weed into the food.

That's the exact pizzeria I went to when I visited the city! I accidentally ordered a slice that wasn't on their menu (meatball), so they just rolled up little balls of meat and put them on top. It didn't have any of the meatball spices, but I really appreciated the effort.

As someone who's never left my home state of Florida, hearing about this journey to pizza land made me think of my pizza land over here. Florida isn't really known for pizza, and sure we got pizza places, and man do a lot of em sell some huge pizzas, but I really do think one of the best pizza places ever are here. It's a family business, called Pizza 2000, and they're Italian. (So you know it's good man)
Never in my life had I had pizza as good as theirs, never had I ever heard of CHUNKY pizza until I was there and oml I don't think I'll ever stop eating it. It's so good, soft, and cheesy, and let me tell you, ordering to go and eating in are TWO DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES. They both are amazing to boot. Seriously, anyone in Florida or visiting has to eat there. I didn't particularly enjoy pizza until I ate there man... I am in Prague now and the best pizza I've ever eaten was here. On the metro. They have a variety of options, but four cheeses are the best. Their four cheeses are great, with large chunks of melting Camambert. I've actually tasted it right when it was taken out of the oven and the cheese was dripping on the floor. It was so delicious I was ready to lick the metro floor clean. It's a small pizza place called Pizza Company, they are on Zličín and Museum stations.

As a New Yorker, let me tell you that the best pizza places you'll find in NY are either in the Bronx or has some Italians working there. Some of these "pizza places" in NY are terrible, and are usually cash grabs to lure tourists. That or are so dirt cheap that anyone eats there, and they don't have to be good. If it's established before 2000's, it's more than likely good

Chicago deep dish is different for sure - thin crust, pan pizzas, Turkish style, Italian, etc. At the end of the day, pizza is pretty hard to fuck up imo.

I live in the Bronx but i've been in NY for the 23 years of my life and by far the greatest pizzas ever come from those hole in the wall places. "Dolla-pizza" is the best pizza ever. 9 Years ago my aunt passed due to pancreatic cancer. My parents took me out for pizza to stop my crying and it was nice an all. the pizza was big and greasy just as i always see it. the absolute best pizza I've ever had was (or rather, literally currently is, I'm eating it rn omg it's so good) from a pizzeria in my university town, I'm pretty sure it's family owned and the owners are Italian immigrants that try and both appeal to the British, and keep the pizza the best they can. And oh my *GOD* is it working. Their pizza is always so cheesy, so juicy, so fresh, so tomatoey, so fucking tasty I'd rather have a slice than an orgasm.
And to additionally put in perspective how good it is - even after you've left the leftovers in your room for 12h without refrigeration (excuse the health risk) the leftovers still taste like a pretty good pizza. Just imagine the god like levels of tastiness this pizza has to have that even after that it's still really good.
It's simply the best. If you're ever around Aberystwyth give Hollywood Pizza a shot. Their pizza is the best a man can ask for

Last month I went to newyork, I’m from Chicago. I was supposed to go on a plane with my friend but it got delayed 8 time, then finally cancelled. We decided to just drive there since we had something scheduled the following day.
I grew up with an Italian-owned pizzeria with New York style pizza just five minutes away from my house
That place ruined me for any and all pizza once we moved away
The only pizza that’s even come close was a pizzeria in Key West, real Italian pizza when I took a vacation to Italy about half a decade back, and a pizza joint that opened near my college campus (probably the closest to said previous home pizzeria)
