  • Street photography and Ricoh GR II again! Shadow photography during sunset and silhouette photography in the lights of the city night.
    I do not drive a car, I am a user of public transport. Stations are like my third home and I should maybe stop calling this street photography but platform photography :)
    The shadow play of the people at this location is a great opportunity. The great thing is that the setting sun is reflected in a large glass front and the people cast their shadows on both sides of the passage, which are awesome conditions for shadow photography!
    A busier station than the last video and even more so at rush hour did not make filming and street photography at the same time easier. But I feel my way slowly, until hopefully one day to the big goal: Zurich Main Station (0.5 million passengers and 3000 trains - daily).
    Just like the shadow photography, the spiral staircase at night is a super example of how much can be possible in a small area. It's usually worth spending time with a good subject and examining it from all angles with your camera! This staircase is not only a great stage for night street photography, but also an architectural gem!

    Thanks for watching!

Musik + Film + Fotografie....so mega stimmig. Vielen Dank dafür.

    Woaaw heavily underrated!! The B-roll in your video is soo good. If you could give maybe one tip, the keeper-print it sequence is nice but gets a bit repetitive. Or I would put the pacing a little bit faster there. But otherwise amazing video!

      Hey thanks a lot for your nice and constructive comment!
      I'll stick to the image presentation time (although I did shorten it for the street videos, compared to architecture and landscape), because I think the viewers as well as the images deserve that moment, but you're right about the text display part - this can be way shorter.
      Cheers

    I think I would print the one the shows at 4:29, but then you shot the girl on the stairs, and definitively, I would print that one better... But still undecided on the one at 4:29. A great video as always! Also, the upside-down shot? really creative! I loved that one too.

    • @thomasrhinow
      @thomasrhinow  Рік тому +2

      I like the one at 4:29 too, except for how the stairs are cut on the left side. Wish I would have left a bit of breathing space there. The decision was closer for the image at 1:45 - I might print that one anyways.
      Thanks a lot for your always appreciated feedback, IBCS!

      @ibcsmx Рік тому

      @@thomasrhinow You're right, the one at 1:45 is great also! I would print that as well, I liked the opposite direction of the shadows and how the walls make it looks like a separate shot. On the other hand, I didn't noticed the cut on the stairs (of the 4:29), you missed that for like 3 cm hehehe, it looks great anyway!
      But what I liked more of the video, was the effect you give when you first spotted the stairs, and immediately go to the spot, I felt it like I was there standing beside you when a sudden "oh" comes after the realization of the perfectly lighted stairs hehehe.

    I liked the image @ 1:43 and would have been happy to print it.
    I was surprised by how good the video quality was from the GRii until I saw you used the Fuji XT4 and XF16 f/2.8 lens. Good job.
    Just purchased a GRiii. I LOVE the IBIS and sharp lens. We all love the size. Not so keen on the 28mm focal length. It just seems too wide for me and hate having to get as close as I have to. Maybe should have picked up the GRiiiX.

    • @thomasrhinow
      @thomasrhinow  Рік тому +1

      Haha, I totally understand your surprise about GRII video quality. I did try it for video once or twice, but quickly ditched this idea.
      I'm a big fan of the 28mm, wouldn't even mind 24mm.
      When dust in my GRII becomes unbearable (doesn't need much more), I will probably upgrade too. These cameras/lenses are just so good and convenient. If I wouldn't own a ton of great vintage lenses, I guess my SLRs and Mirrorless wouldn't last long.
      Yeah, I now think the 3 shadow figures are a print too. Not sure why I didn't choose it as such for the video. Maybe because I already had a print.
      Cheers

    Großartig! Nach zwei Minuten war ich schon gespannt, was noch kommen mag, wenn Du das Bild mit den drei Schatten nicht druckst. Das warten hat sich gelohnt. Tolle Ergänzung Deiner Wand. Und auf die Idee mit den wartenden Fledermäuse am Bahnhof muss man erstmal kommen. Toll erkannt.

      Naja, vielleicht hätt ich das 3-Schatten Bild doch drucken sollen - vor allem schreit die Wand nach Querformat. War auf jeden Fall nah dran und ohne die Frau auf der Treppe hätt ichs wohl gedruckt - was wiederum heisst, ich sollte es eigentlich trotzdem tun.

      If color doesn't play a vital role, I do convert almost all images to b/w to compare. But if the light and/or the composition isn't good, b/w usually doesn't help to save it.

    BG Frank

    • @thomasrhinow
      @thomasrhinow  Рік тому +1

      Seriöse Fragen sind mir nie lästig und beantworte ich gerne!
      Es käme mir nie in den Sinn, die s/w Wandlung der Kamera zu überlassen und ich würde auch niemandem dazu raten.
      Generell gilt ja, je mehr Bildinformationen vorhanden sind, desto grösser die Möglichkeiten in der Nachbearbeitung. Deshalb fotografiere ich ausschliesslich im jeweiligen Raw Format und "Entwickle" die Bilder in Lightroom.
      Durch die Farbinformationen erhält man bei der s/w Wandlung so viel mehr Gestaltungsspielraum weil man die Helligkeit einzelner Farbtöne gezielt einstellen kann.
      Ein gutes Beispiel sind die Bilder des bemalten Tunnels. Da konnte ich die Helligkeitswerte der gelben und roten Flächen/Linien punktgenau einstellen.
      Vielleicht wenn man eine ganz bestimmte Filmemulation erreichen möchte, könnte man über in-Kamera Wandlung nachdenken - aber auch nur, wenn diese Emulation nicht auch in der Nachbearbeitung erreichbar wäre.
      Gruss

      @@thomasrhinow ...sollte oder könnt man ja jpg+raw gut machen, dann ist ja überhaupt nix verloren ausser, dass man bei jpg schon eher eine Art Vorschau in s/w hat . Ich bin leider nicht so versiert in der Nachbearbeitung mit PS/LR und Co. 🤷

    • @thomasrhinow
      @thomasrhinow  Рік тому +1

      @@frankgurtler7316 Ja, das geht natürlich auch.
      Zumindest in LR ist die s/w Nachbearbeitung recht einfach. Ich habe mir eine Reihe von s/w Filmemulationen heruntergeladen, welche ich meist als Startpunkt anwende und von dort aus meinen Feinschliff mache.
      Was evtl. auch hilfreich sein könnte, ist die Vorschau im Display/EVF auf s/w zu stellen - wenn die Kamera dies zulässt.
      Da ich (vor langer Zeit) mit der Fotografie analog s/w begonnen hatte, seh ich noch immer die Welt erst mal in s/w (muss den inneren Blick bewusst auf Farbe umschalten, wenn es farbig sein soll) und habe das noch nie benötigt.
