I don’t think everyone is aware Odysseus DOES kill the infant. He throws him off the Trojan wall 😢😭 so when the beat drops at the end of “just a man” it the baby dropping as well 😭😭😭
I imagine it as a cliff, more like. Where he's stepping up to it as he questions what makes a monster, and then as the music and his vocals fade, the baby disappears into the mist and he turns to walk away
I am aware, especially because in the underworld saga he says "And if I had to drop another infant from a wall in a second so we all don't die..." that's when it hit me what he had done. Thats why to me its THE saddest song out of the entire musical, to go against your core values and beliefs killing a literal baby that also just happens to remind him of his own son. Its all just so heartbreaking. Just to hear him plee to find a way to not end him to Zeus. I can't imagine the amount of guilt. 😭😭

The odyssey which is the book this musical is adapting already has a movie, although quite old. Not sure if it covers the entire book, but it’s a long movie.
It’s pretty clear. Horse And Infant is The Siege of Troy, Just A Man is during the siege of Troy where Odysseus contemplates killing the boy, Full Speed Ahead is set a few days later when Odysseus and his “600 MEN” set home and see the island of the Lotus Eaters, Open Arms is where Polites and Odysseus venture to the island in search of food, and Polites convinces Odysseus to greet the world with open arms. Athena is against this mindset so in Warrior Of The Mind, she speaks to Odysseus and realigns him with her mental state of being a “warrior of the mind”.
Jorge is beyond amazing, and I love this saga and cannot wait until 2-9 drops. I'm excited about Calypso's parts, but I really need to hear the rest of Circe.

In some versions he was actually the one who caused the baby's death. In the middle ages the idea of the baby surviving and landing in west Europe leading to Charlemagne got popular with the franks. But there was a BUNCH of versions of that, so maybe in an old one our boy odeusus can't do it and saves him. Not sure what he'll do in this one.And I'm so looking forward to it, this musical really has me gripped

The reason the original is hard to find is because it's the version that Jorge wasn't getting paid from. We are technically supporting a large business preying on smaller creators. However, I enjoy the original album much more than the new remaster.
It sucks cause the studio he recorded it from decided not to pay Jorge & co for their work and claimed the recording as their own (or something like that). That's why he made the rerecordings. But I'm definitely with you, the new ones suck ass, and I actually ugly-cried when I listened to the new ones cause I was so attached to the original ones. I feel like he and the rest of the singers kinda died a little inside about the whole thing. I bet it was hard for them to muster up the enthusiasm to try to recreate something they'd all worked so hard for. But I would've waited forever for a better quality...

Same! But no, it's a concept album that was released a few weeks ago, so there's definitely no visuals. But lots of hit musicals (i.e. les mis, literal Hamilton, etc) started as concept albums and grew from there. If the right people see it, it could totally go far!

I miss these versions so bad. The new versions are honestly worse. They're lacking in the energy and dramatics that made compared to the old versions, which is the reason these albums have been playing through my headphones on loop for months. I think the new ones are edited weird, I don't like the random added harmonies in The Horse and The Infant and I'm disappointed by the lack of personality shown in Warrior of The Mind (the growl in "you are Athena", the "You fell for my bluff! hahahaha", the humour in "we'll see where it ends", ect). The entire thing feels gutted now. Like they took out all the best parts and left scraps behind. No energy, less emotion, the sound mixing feels weird and imo interferes with most of the songs. I have similar critiques of the new versions of The Cyclops Saga, too.
Curious you should mention that. For fun I always cast like the Hamilton characters or some of them as the Epic characters. Hamilton as Odysseus, Mulligan as Eurylochus, Laurens as Polites (ouch, now I feel bad...), Eliza can be Penelope and Athena as Angelica. Especially Eurylochus sounds much like Mulligan, I think.

"The Horse and the Infant" takes place very soon following Achilles' death, starting with the Trojan horse and the siege of Troy. In "Open Arms," Polites tries to convince Odysseus to be kinder and more open. Odysseus argues, and makes an attempt to prove his point when the island is revealed to belong to the Lotus Eaters. The Lotus Eaters are people who have eaten the lotus flowers and fruit, which has created a hivemind of laziness and hedonism that cannot be easily escaped. Polites then asks the Lotus Eaters for other food, and they direct the two to a cave to the east. Then Athena, being Odysseus' patron, stops time to speak with him. She is angry that he is listening to Polites and becoming soft. In "Warrior of the Mind," there is a flashback, to where she apparently created a "test" to find a warrior fitting of her blessings. Because it's Athena, all who displayed nothing but brutish strength and skilled use of weapons fell. But Odysseus, as sharp and clever as she was, defeated the boar easily. She then taught him, shaping him to be a warrior in her image. The song ends with her going back to the present, warning him to stay on the path that she has designed for him. Nowhere yet, if I'm understanding correctly. It's a concept album, so it's a collection of songs that could eventually become a musical. Now, the war between the greeks and tojans has just ended after 10 years of fighting (first and second songs) and odysseus and his crew are on their way back home (third song). The rest of the musical (and the rest of the epic/book this story was inspired from) is about their struggles getting home
great concept album that just needs polishing to be perfect; teagan is particularly wonderful I can see her going far, the other singers you can tell are slightly inexperienced

But no, it's a concept album that was released a few weeks ago, so there's definitely no visuals. But lots of hit musicals (i.e. les mis, literal Hamilton, etc) started as concept albums and grew from there. If the right people see it, it could totally go far!

I dont know i perfer these concepts over the newer ones.. i still like the new ones but these are the ones i heard first and it just sounds weird to listen to the newer versions.

The old studio that posted them didn't want to pay Jorge, I suppose they're on a legal trial for it and that's why they got deleted, the new versions got released so that Jay could gain money from them

I miss these versions so bad. The new versions are honestly worse. They're lacking in the energy and dramatics that made compared to the old versions, which is the reason these albums have been playing through my headphones on loop for months. I think the new ones are edited weird, I don't like the random added harmonies in The Horse and The Infant and I'm disappointed by the lack of personality shown in Warrior of The Mind (the growl in "you are Athena", the "You fell for my bluff! hahahaha", the humour in "we'll see where it ends", ect). The entire thing feels gutted now. Like they took out all the best parts and left scraps behind. No energy, less emotion, the sound mixing feels weird and imo interferes with most of the songs. I have similar critiques of the new versions of The Cyclops Saga, too.

Curious you should mention that. For fun I always cast like the Hamilton characters or some of them as the Epic characters. Hamilton as Odysseus, Mulligan as Eurylochus, Laurens as Polites (ouch, now I feel bad...), Eliza can be Penelope and Athena as Angelica. Especially Eurylochus sounds much like Mulligan, I think.

Homers poem epic
This is the end of the Trojan War and the beginning of the Odyssey, following Odysseus as he tries to return home. Many different forces, including the gods themselves at some point, try to keep him from going home to Ithaca.
Odysseus is a clever warrior, Athena's favorite and protégé. He was one of many who pledged to protect Helen as an oath to King Menelaus of Sparta, and upon Helen's abduction, he was among those who retrieved Achilles to fight in the Trojan War. "The Horse and the Infant" takes place very soon following Achilles' death, starting with the Trojan horse and the siege of Troy. Beside him are King Menelaus, Menelaus' brother Agamemnon, King Nestor of Pylos, the son of Ajax (who is ordered to "stay back"), and Achilles' son Neoptolemus.
Here, "Hector" is mentioned. Some background: Hector was the oldest and strongest heir to Troy. He killed the warrior Patroclus, who was also Achilles' lover. Achilles killed Hector, but then Paris killed Achilles. Hector's children would be the heirs to the Trojan throne.
This prompts Zeus, king of the Olympians, to confront Odysseus. Seeing as the gods are ALSO at war with each other due to the events of the Trojan War, he orders Odysseus to kill Hector's infant son to prevent further bloodshed when the child becomes of age. In "Just a Man," Odysseus is reminded of his wife and particularly his son, Telemachus, who he has not seen for over a decade since the war started. When he last saw Telemachus, the boy was also just a baby, and so Odysseus grapples with his morality. His devotion to the gods and desire to end the war for good prove to be stronger.
A few days later, we get "Full Speed Ahead," describing Odysseus' men attempting to return home. Eurylochus, Odysseus' second in command, mentions that they have no food. Polites, Odysseus' dearest friend, points out an island -- there is an argument, and Odysseus decides to listen to Polites, but with caution.
In "Open Arms," Polites tries to convince Odysseus to be kinder and more open. Odysseus argues, and makes an attempt to prove his point when the island is revealed to belong to the Lotus Eaters. The Lotus Eaters are people who have eaten the lotus flowers and fruit, which has created a hivemind of laziness and hedonism that cannot be easily escaped. Polites then asks the Lotus Eaters for other food, and they direct the two to a cave to the east.
Then Athena, being Odysseus' patron, stops time to speak with him. She is angry that he is listening to Polites and becoming soft. In "Warrior of the Mind," there is a flashback, to where she apparently created a "test" to find a warrior fitting of her blessings. Because it's Athena, all who displayed nothing but brutish strength and skilled use of weapons fell. But Odysseus, as sharp and clever as she was, defeated the boar easily. She then taught him, shaping him to be a warrior in her image. The song ends with her going back to the present, warning him to stay on the path that she has designed for him.
I hope this makes some semblance of sense.

Nowhere yet, if I'm understanding correctly. It's a concept album, so it's a collection of songs that could eventually become a musical. Lots of shows, like Les mis and Hamilton, started as concept albums, and are now big hits, so it's a good starting point. Pretty much just gotta hope it gets seen by the right people who make it into something

I'm not sure if that's in the final score. It was really good, but open arms may have replaced it. I'm not 100%, but placement wise it makes sense and they are thematically similar

Epic is a musical recounting the Greek mythology known as "The Odyssey", the main character of which being Odysseus, the king of Ithaca
It is a collection of parts with only 4 being released so far (Troy, Cyclops, Ocean, and Circe just recently). You can find them if you simply search "Troy saga EPIC the Musical" or "Cyclops saga EPIC The Musical". The creator of EPIC, Jay Herrans, has a UA-cam channel where he shows status updates and sneak peeks

Can I get some context
odysseus (main character) left his wife and newborn child to fight in the war. Now, the war between the greeks and tojans has just ended after 10 years of fighting (first and second songs) and odysseus and his crew are on their way back home (third song). The rest of the musical (and the rest of the epic/book this story was inspired from) is about their struggles getting home

@@starrysky324 yeah... They also took away a lot of the intensity for some reason in so many of the songs. I really don't get it. Like I understand that they weren't getting paid for the originals like they should've been, but I don't think the solution was gutting the songs from their energy
