I have two tortie litter mates both female. One is a pure diva and the other rambunctious. I have never had cats that talk as much as these two. They are convinced they are carrying on a conversation. They even 'talk' with my daughter on the phone. And yes, tortitude exists.
couple months ago i opened my own small restaurant . while working on the back i saw a tortoiseshell :) . now she lives with me she and her 5 lovely kittens !!!!!
I had one I thought was a black tortie. She had mostly black with colours mixed but also had little orange patches on legs and tail. She was a little madam. She was a very determined cat, definitely boss of my other 4. She liked to sit or lay wherever she liked. Lovely cat though. She was 18 when I lost her. I still miss her much.
Mine lays wherever she wants to. When I'm in the restroom she pushes the door open
She is nosey. She has different hiding spots inside. She can't meow. But she makes like gremlin noise

I own tortie cat ,I actually resced her when she was only 3 weeks old ,she was hungry and sick and crying alone so me and my sister went to rescue her because there were many stray dogs that could attack her ,then I took her home and feed her she didn't know how to eat ,so I opened her mouth put treat inside then she understood about food ,now she is all grown baby ,plays cheerfully with my orange cat ,we named her melody 😍😍😍,u can check my Channel I have posted my cats videos ,I am lucky to have her.

I have a male and female calico cat 🐈 😻 🐈⬛️!!! My male calico cat is in perfect health!!! He is sterile so I didn't have to get him fixed!!! I'm extremely lucky to have both of them!!! I love them dearly!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤!!!
I have never seen a tortie cat that didn't have at least a little white on them somewhere. To me the only real difference between torties and calicos is proportion of the colors black, orange, and white.
My late cat mama (black and white) throughout her life mated with the neighbors' grey cat. So when her last litter came out, it was strange to see there was a tortie, a calico and the usual mom-resembling kitty.
The calico got adopted by another neighbor and the other two remained with. I didn't know what tortitude was like yet, but the tiny kitty grew into the most feisty, cuddly, hyperactive, curious, extroverted and even moody cat I ever had. You couldn't take a step without her noticing and attentively surveyed every backyard activity. Last year she was the mascot among the construction workers renovating our house, inspecting the scaffolding as it was being built and fearlessly staying beside them despite loud machinery and all potential hazards. She used to follow my mom in our barn and steal some rabbit dry food (she was absolutely crazy about it!): she even removed the lid herself in order to munch on her favorite snack (never got a problem from it, being an all-organic food). She was tiny compared to her brother (as she stopped growing at 6 months), but she didn't hesitate to pick up the fight with neighboring cats if she needed to. Her mom was a great fighter and taught her well!
Sadly she crossed the bridge on New Year's Eve.
Tourties seem to be very interested in construction! My tourtie was discovered by construction workers in 2006 while in the process of building my moms cousins house. My moms cousin was kind enough to let my mom have the cat, and since she was a wild cat, she didn’t leave the basement until 2021. I was born in 2008, and in 2021 when I was 13 was the first time I had pet her. Now we are closer than ever and I’m super proud that I can walk past her now!

We had a cat who was more ginger than black.
She was brilliant, such a sweet cat (although not to the neighbour's cat, he decided to move up the road after repeated fights, where we would come back to find the back garden covered in mainly orange fur), and intelligent, too.
She came from a breeder and was a present to a doctor we were staying with, but their cat didn't like her, so we took her home instead.
Actually there is a third. That one is known as a Torbies, which is often mistaken as a Calico just like how a Tortoiseshell is often mistaken as a Calico. The Torbies tend to be a tri-colored cat just like a Calico, but their pattern tends to be random and less defined than a Calico. The reason I know this is I have a Torbies. I have also seen three different Tortoiseshell cats, two of which live around my house. One of which is a dusty black and orange, the other is a black and orange. The third Tortoiseshell lives near a gas station I stop at daily. Thought that one was a male, but may in fact be a female.
I have Tortie kitten and her name is Dirty she's so sweet and loves to play in the water.

When i was a little girl living at home with Mom and Dad we had a male Calico cat. My Dad said male Calicos are extremely rare, and he told me and my Mother to never mention to anyone how rare he is or what sex he is to anyone, because someone might try to steal him. We never told anyone, and the only person besides us 3 that knew was the Vet.
My cat just recently had kittens and one of us a black, orange and white and it’s a male and I was told that they are kind of rare but I didn’t know so that’s why I’m here now . They’re all so cute and I’d keep all of them if I could they’re adorable ! 💞💞💞

We had one like her years ago named blossom, she was a torbie and did not like being petted, held, was very demanding with what she wanted but strangely she did like just hanging around where u were at

Those are chimera torties. I have a chimera tortie. One side of face is orange and the other black

One minute she is sleeping so sweet . Next she’s climbing the curtains walking the curtain rod . Then jumping off it flying through the air . She’s like the dare devil of cats . I go to turn the light switch on . I got a cat hanging from my arm like a monkey ! I was told she’s a Chimera .
I have 20 mixed tortie, calico and a few diluted ones feral. Finally getting them fixed, orange and full black also. Told people to get them for free. Nope so snip time to many toms in the area. Never knew they were rare huh.

My grandma owns a long-furred calico cat (female obviously) and she is the wildest, most unhinged cat we have ever met and I named my cat Crackhead (different one from the calico). She’s not mean she’s just crazy, as she will randomly bolt around my Grandma’s home without warning. It’s pretty funny.
I feel so blessed LOL I found a little while back and abandon Little tortie cat brought her home and named her Fontella but I call her fonnie for short.

I have a calico cat it’s a longhair, and her face is almost split perfectly from the middle I thought that was pretty insane.
One of my cats had kittens and one came out like that. She has no white on her but the tips of her paws. Half orange and half grey.
My baby girl Lilith Bellatrix is 100% tortitude! She will be sweet purrs, loving & all too happy to clean my beard... fall asleep and randomly wake up, bite the hell out of me and use derogatory language as she runs away. But I love her bunches and she gave our family a litter with a gigantic orange tabby (Cassidy) and his brother which is cream colored with golden eyes (Ghost).

My cat Harley Quinn is a tortie with alternating squares of orange and black split down the middle (plus some white here and there). On her face, above the nose it's orange-black, under the nose black-orange, and the pattern is similarly consistent across her body 🤣 she's mischievous yet a total sweetie

Oh yes, my son has 3 torties and they have attitude alright. I've seen them stalk and scare a pit bull to death . They are vocal and smart. They love my son.
My Joy fits the stereotype for a tortie, but she's also very sweet and spunky. When I'm sick, she never leaves my side. I love her cuddles... but not a fan of her feisty side. She's the only cat I've ever had that will hiss at me for no apparent reason, then 10 minutes later will want to cuddle. She's my sour-patch kid and I know that we "love" each other.

Last year this little grown tortie female started showing up around my house. After a week or so she left a dead mouse on my front door mat. Couple days later she started meowing at my front door. Started petting her, she rubbed all over me, opened the screen door and she just darted right in. Explored/sniffed most of the house, I opened a can of tuna and the deal was done. She didn't leave my side(literally she slept on top of me) for the next couple days. We've been best buds ever since. Also "tortitude" is a myth, she is SUPER CHILL. Pretty sure whoever dumped her on my street had other dogs/cats/lots of people in the house when she was a little kitten. She's my only cat but tolerates the neighbor's dog on the leash, anybody that visits my house and coaxes her a bit, they are best buds. Sent her away to my parent's house and my friend's house(no other animals) a couple different times while I was out of town, she knew them and did GREAT there. She would've destroyed my house if I left her alone for 4 or 5 days with just my neighbor checking in on her.

I was given a male tortie who is fearl he's coming in a few days
My Tortie she has a little white coming through on the chest. Only many a dozen hairs. She had two white whiskers one on either side but they broke off or they shed ( I'm hoping they'll grow back) there's orange and black. The swirls on the face and the half of her lower jaw is tan kind of going orange I think this comes and goes with how clean she keeps herself. She can produce quite a rich sheen. The hair on the face grows every which way but a most curious thing about her is the rich orange stripes that try to come through. It's almost not noticeable but she has the standards stripes of orange coming down the brow, down around the sides there are strips and on the front legs bands. Deep orange but hardly noticable. The rear legs are predominantly black but Tortie.
I spend too much time buzzing on the wildness of her colors. Tortitude check. So way lots of tortitude. I adopted her from the city as a companion for my Clyde who is black and has suffered loss. He is practically my son. He looks at Swirley (the name the pound gave her) he looked at her and thinks what the ?!@#. I can tell but they get along great. Now if only she would only learn compassion such as cleaning Clyde's face.
"Tortitude" is real. We had 3 cats, one a tortie, another a calico. The tortie was definitely the queen of the house. The tortie and calico were frenemies.

Tortoises and calicos that are males have Klinefelter syndrome. I didn’t know that cats can have this genetic disorder. Although, it’s different in humans.

My Calico is pretty easy going... if you don't talk to her, don look her and off curse don't dare touch her unless she goes to you. She is called Khaleesi and I love her.

I have a female tortie and she is the sweetest kitty in this world. Her name is ***PATCHES*** ❤HER SO MUCH. only thing is that she is kind of a DUMB DUMB. she has absolutely no clue that a car can literally run her ass over and turn her into road kill. She will sit right in the middle of the street even when a car truck tank etc. and not move . Thankfully it's only happened a few times lucky I was out side at the time and the car literally stopped like a foot from her . Did she finally move when the car was 2 inches from her head. Hell naw she just sat there . I had u run out in the street and pick her up so the car could continue on their way. Ugh crazy cat . She is not scared at all by cars and that is all bad .. I've been trying to think of a way where I could make her scared of cars .. any suggestions anyone ?
It's true about the Tortoshell personality of a well intelligent mind and how closely bond to you as a sidekick partner. I've had a few cats before many decades back and they don't really have the same attributes as my latest 15 month TS I got at 10 weeks. However, I have more time now than I had decades back with my other 2 Cats being a Calico and a Himalayan. My TShell Jazzy I trained her with lease for few months of introducing her to my yard. She is well trained of coming inside at Twilight or sun set everyday as she is inside at night. She did go around behind my back and gave birth to 3 kittens 2 months ago. But she is a hell of a talker always giving me various meows and chirps which I know well. She acts like a true sidekick with extreme IQ. I'm very lucky to have her.

I found a tortoiseshell kitten last June in the woods in front of my house. She was about 6-8 weeks old. She has an attitude like none of my cats has ever displayed. She will get mad sometimes while being petted and growl and immediately bite and draw blood. Five minutes later she'll jump in your lap wanting to be petted again. She hates closed doors and is quick to run into the room of any door that is opened. She bulldozes food dishes off the table and moves the water dish on the floor sloshing water. She is so stubborn! I have a water bottle I spray her with but she's not learning. Help! We are old, 76 and 82 and this cat is wearing us out.
I HAVE A TORTIE...SHE WAS ABANDONED. SWEETEST CAT AND A BIT MOODY, BUT A GREAT HUNTER. SHE WILL KILL ANYTHING THAT MOVES.
So. Maybe someone can answer this for me. I have a really pretty cat that someone gave me as a kitten. She's unusually small. Tiny paws, small short tail, small body.. she has big pretty eyes, anyway that part is irrelevant.. she's a light gray silver color with a very subtle tabby pattern, white muzzle, white on her belly (and up the bottom of her neck into her muzzle) and her paws are white. Anyway, there's two unfixed males that roam around. One is a creamy light orange tabby, and the other is white but with like a grey brown squirrel like color in patches on his head (so like his ears, around his eyes, cheeks, so all but his muzzle) he has HUUUUUGE cheeks. Like a chipmunk. He's got some of this pattern on his back on his legs entirely. But he has very thick black stripes, a lot like the ones I see on Bengal cats. Not on the white parts, though. Anyway. [Thanks so much if you're still reading lol] she had kittens. I feel like the orange one is the dad, because she had 2 boys and 2 girls - the two boys are only grey (one was born larger than the others and is now .. well.. obese.. he is a silvery almost russian blue color, very very soft, his fur is dark grey but gets lighter towards the tips of his fur) the other brother is a silver and grey tabby like his mom with a bit of light light (but not quite white) grey kind of randomly mixed in (it's all pretty uniform though, it doesn't stand out, he's just a tabbybwith varying shades of grey).. the two girls however? They're grey. White. Darker grey. Light grey. Cream orange. ALL of the kittens but one of the girls have very striking amber eyes, the other has green like her mom. But the two girls one has a more mosaic body while the other has more defined stripes. One girl has white patterns just like her mother. The other one without stripes- has half grey and half orange face. A lot like the famous "chimera" cat Venus. They're all a bit dilute but idk. They're like some kind of mix between calico and tortieshell and I don't know what is going on with these kittens lol. The orange would make me think obviously they're the orange cats, but at the same time, I wonder if the other male cat has a recessive orange? Since he is like a squirrel grey brown and not just grey. Why does one girl and one boy have stripes but the other 2 don't? It's just weird. I have questions. Lol.

My ginger tabby female cat just gave birth too 4 kittens two bangles ginger tabbing males and two black torbie tabbing female one with a spilt colour face , there black and brown mottley and rich blown and black stripes on there legs side of there faces ,no white just even black and brown and there colours on there lower legs and paws "man " splatter pattern with light tan ,brown, black and browns and black stripes through out there upper legs and body and mottley on their back I love looking and watching them ,but the two bangles their stripes fully all over with dashes and dots on their bellies ,I'm keeping all 4 .hahaha.
