immensely disappointed to hear they got rid of straken, wh yare they so hell bent on sand blasting any character away from this game with every edition?
you know I think you could use this guard detachment as a digga nob detachment. With the plus one on charge and the hooting and the hollering it seems appropriate.
Great video guys, I don't want to sound negative, but here are a few pointers. It's very easy to make a fluffy guard list. It's much harder to make a list which works. Poor guard lists get smashed real easy. Those lascannons teams should start out of line of sight. Then jump out to shoot. Punisher tanks are pretty awful Especially without order support. Recon detachment, the focus is on infantry and walkers. Plenty of squads, sentinels and heavy weapon teams. Scions (even a five man team) and pretty much auto include to help with secondary objectives. Basilisks need orders, but should probably be left at home. Hellhounds are ok. But what are they stripping cover for? Lasguns? Give recon another go guys. But have a think about how you want those units to work on the board.
I'm a 10 year Guard player and the only YT channel that runs Guard lists that dont get wiped every game are either Mordian Glory or TableTopTactics. It's so damn frustrating seeing people running Guard lists that have absolutely no bite because they're a mish mash of crap that doesn't work together
@@georgidobrevmusic 20 years Guard Player here and i completely agree with you. Not the content creators fault, but they approach the Guard like other armies. The Guard has to be synergic to work. I played Recon detachment yersterday and it got a solid win feeling pretty powerful against a 90% melee Space Wolves army.
Post match: ya cmon guys, you cant play the entire game on a turn 1 gamble where you need turn 1. Not having a plan for turn 2 etc. Its just bad play and leads to literally 1 turn of Guard for a battle report, thats not a successful battle report guys. I love your energy and goofiness and narritive lean. I think you guys have the capacity to remeber the name of your Leman Russ and play well. Especially if its match play. Heavy Weapons teams dont need to be a full gamble throw away unit. Especially when u know you are going second and they have SCOUT cmon guys! You dont even need to play perfect im just saying maybe try a little. Also the Guard list is missing 165 points 💽👄💽 😂 Edit: Funnily enough I think the only heavy armor that has play in Recon is a Baneblade. NOW HEAR ME OUT, not only are they dark age of technology "scout tanks" L00l but they only get support from Tech Priests with their heal/ 4++ invul. and scout sentinels rerolling 1s. Not to mention the whole detachment is about keeping your opponent at bay with cheap skirmishers, you can keep the baneblade firing away all game with a mid board angle and play keep away with walkers, infantry and cavalry. The random smattering of tanks and 3 hellhounds all in the same spot, and an artillery tank have no place in this detachment especially with no orders. Can quite literally trade 4 of those 6 tanks to get a Banesword. Cant wait to see u guys retry this, I hope soon because we got to see absolute Catachan destruction, they did diddly squat!
Hence you deploy as if you are going second, hide units = less for the first turn to shoot at... Hard to do with so many models, but that is the "compensation" you demanded
Edit: The Guard list is 1835 pts with upgrades (based on updated points) 💽👄💽 Im at 40 min. Only one turn, 20min left and they are talking about ending the game early. I get that bad rolls happen sometimes, like "really bad rolls" but its not the main reason for the poor Guard turn 1. Im sorry guys, your armies are beautiful and the terrain is cinematic, but when we start out the board with all your heavy weapon teams in view and range of the enemy, youre not setting yourself up for success. Good job remebering scout sentinels daring recon but Luca immediately forgets plus 1 ap for ALL astra militarum models. Immediately forgets about your trip wires upgrade... Sets up the two squads of catachans so that an enemy can consolidate when all you needed was an intentful call "they are 3.1 in from the front of the squad in front of them." That play alone allows Straken to make the charge in the next turn and get their buff. Also multi meltas fired from the Exterminator only rolled 3 shots 😂 you can see the extra dice get stuck in his hand. I had high hopes seeing this detachment but it legit takes practice, skill, focus. Its not an auto win like combined arms Lethal hits on everything all the time, is. You need to play super tactical. When his entire army shot into one unit and couldnt kill it, that wasnt the rolls, it was the units themsleves. Tanks literally have zero business in Recon, too many points and no order support, they just whiff. Also also Guard list is like 1710 pts before upgrades! What are yall doing!! I hope we can see a rematch soon.
This. also real quick...Catachans versus Iron warriors, really? not Tyranids or Kroot or something more themeatic fluffy AND they have to fight an army of -1 to wound v shooting?? come on man were they trying to make Catachans look poor
This is definitely not the channel if you are into 40k. It's just not their game. They always make mistakes and forget things. It's hard to watch so I don't lol. This is definitely and old world channel.
Kinda hard to position all 100+ models behind cover dude... Tanks are needed for extra heavy weapons... unless you think more dudes with flamers are going to kill tanks for you? 😅 Fellhammer isn't even go-to meta so not sure what the issue is.
@@chrisg8321 this Detachment literally gives you the benefit of cover all the time. Infantry, very tanky. I also disagree, you literally don't NEED tanks for "heavy weapons". Lascannon is perfectly fine anti tank and they can be found on three different Heavy Weapons teams, and on two types of Sentinels. Which actually benefit from Recon. Guard is an army of force multipliers. A single tank will do little to no DMG alone. It needs an order, it needs rerolls, it needs to strip away cover and/or have it's AP increased by something shooting at it first. So a standard setup would be a Lemon Russ Battle tank, and Exterminator, and a hellhound. And you don't even get an order with that setup. So switch one tank for a tank commander. Those three vehicles are 235 + 180 + 125 = 540 pts. In a detachment that literally has zero impact on their stats. It's not the right detachment for tanks as they are TOO expensive to make function. Idk if u actually watched the bat rep but everything I said ^ is true. Take the Guard's first turn. They pour their entire army, I'm talking multiple battles tanks, into an elite infantry unit, and they are literally unable to kill. How were the "heavy weapons" doing anything?? You also cannot ignore all the other mistakes made this game. The Guard player is playing without 165 pts. Not trying to spread negativity, it's just I have criticism for the super short battlereps where they will say "we want to show off the new detachments etc etc." like that gets me excited because I want to see what the new detachments do. Then the game ends in one turn because the Guard Player is just totally throwing dice without thinking. I'm sorry but he just lets his army get tagged and charged for literally no reason. And then just waffles on about how "oh I setup my entire game plan around a gamble going first because you put a single venom crawler out in the open. And I didn't get first turn so I just let all my Catachan HWT which have a pre game move now stay in the open after I lost said gamble."
@@dominicl5862 .... So static lascannons that can be played around will be your only anti-tank... Are you playing 7th still? Mobility is needed and that is where the tanks come in. So admit its hard to hide 100+ models from first turn shooting?

I love the idea of extra objectives to substitute the painted army ones!

Because his model was old and GW is getting rid of old minis?

@ Yeah totally. If you dont stack enough orders/units in your favor to work cohesively you are out in the open with your pants down.
36:10 the soul eater rule was changed so that it only occurs when the venomcrawler kills units in close combat.
Does anyone else keep hearing Nirnroot SFX throughout the video? It’s a cool touch
This is how I roll every game. This hurts my soul
Poor rambos had no chance.
Don't they get Demolition charges anymore?
FOR THE EMPEROR!! UP AND AT EM DEVILS!!
Why does the Venomcrawler hit on 2+?
Juiced up by Warpsmith
i don't think you can redeploy after turn order, every rule of that type has been written in a way that sees you do that before turn order is decided
Why power armor when you can flex???

loved watching the game but, i HATE the way you guys roll dice. gently dropping the dice just irks me because its far less random outcomes
