Bravo! to World Horse Welfare Glenda Spooner Farm for so graciously rescuing Holly from a quick demise after being abandoned by her mother out there in the freezing cold of the Welsh hills. Thank you so much for treating her rainscald. ❣💯
Aw Holly is a gorgeous girl! Pulls at the heartstring when you see abandoned animals especially when they still need their mom. Thank you for having rescued her and taken such good care of this beautiful foal.
Do you ever come across any mares, as we do now and then, that will immediately claim a foal that is brought in if they are not already bonded to one? We try and make sure that we have at least one mare that will foster an orphan at or near a rescue center for that reason. It doesn't help with 2 hour feedings in most cases as these mares are not lactating so stable hands still need to offer bottles or pails of milk every couple of hours, but good foster mares will even allow an orphan to comfort suckle which can overcome a great deal of anxiety and depression that a foal suffers when it loses a mother it knew for a time. We have found it worth trying to match up a foal with a foster as a mare is the best guidance for a foal to learn to be a horse and they very much seem to benefit from having a mother to protect them so they can spend time in a paddock or pasture with other mares and foals and get some good social integration. While every two hour feedings are a strain on staff, if a foal is fragile or depressed that can often mean that a handler ends up having to stay with the foal from feed to feed to try and ease its fear and loneliness. Simply having a foster mom share a stall with a fragile foal has not just relieved that staff from trying to be a substitute mom but gives the foal a much more normal experience. We have found that when we compare a sick, weak and underweight foal that a foster will accept to one in the same condition but we did not have a foster for, while both get the same foods and feeds, and milk, medical treatment and the one without a foster gets pretty much hands on care around the clock the one we could see fostered not only gains weight better, grows better, gets well quicker and so on. Many times, like you see with Holly, when an orphan is found they have major skin problems which would never have happened if they were with their mother, but with the administrations of a mare we often find that her management of the foals coat, and sometimes what once we thought was over licking, cures skin conditions much quicker than all the things the vets have come up with to cure these babies. Years ago we worried that a fosters over attention to cleaning and licking a foal was going to make things worse, and sometimes even separated them when it seemed the mare was being too compulsive, bt then we learned that the mare actually knew her job well and many skin and coat irritations, parasite invasions, and infections as well as exceptionally comprehensive removal of dirt, is something a mare knows exactly how ro handle, and, of course,no grooming by a human can every measure up to the love and attention that a mare gives a foal when she is doing the grooming.
Aw! Poor wee thing! Thanks for rescuing Holly and giving her the best chance of a new, healthy and happier life. Happy Christmas to you and all of your sponsors and followers too. 🥰🐴🐎🎅
What a sweetheart! So glad the person who spotted Holly on her own alerted World Horse Welfare. Poor baby, wonder what happened to her mum? The start of these videos are always heartbreaking then we see the transformation. Bless you for all the work you do, and to the staff at Glenda Spooner Farm for taking such loving care of Holly and Bunny - remember seeing the video of little Bunny, and look at her now! ❤ Wishing all at World Horse Welfare and the beautiful horses in their care a blessed, peaceful Christmas ❤🐴🎄❤
Lord bless all of you in abundance for what you do for the horses. Merry Christmas Holly!! Your so sweet. All of the horses are sweet gifts from the Lord!!
I'm so happy That they rescued those foals who can be so heartless and Abandon a little animal and a child like that? She was helped by god and Jesus to get seen and Have a nice place to stay I hope she gets an amazing owner Maybe she ran away maybe she wasn't abandoned but anyways I'm happy she's having a great life and a great Christmas
I love the upside down heart above Holly's fluffy tail... All the baby foals are beautiful and blessed to find their way to this amazing Horse Rescue team and beautiful environment... 🦋💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦋
Thanks to ALL involved in this, and other, rescues. This is clearly NOT a case of a mare rejecting a foal. Holly was ABANDONED where there were other equines, but she was discovered and reported by a concerned passerby. Since Holly is not a single case, this cruelty points to a sign of the times. All over animal rescue centres are taking strain.
По глазам видно что малышка уже натерпелась. Жалко что мама куда то делась Но малыш попал в добрые и любящие руки. Удачи тебе! И пусть твоя жизнь будет легкой в любящих и заботящихся руках!
Bravo to you for your kind & sensible rescue & care of this little foal. It's heartbreaking how they suffer after abandonment by callous people. I still support a skewbald gelding who was found in a similar state of distress 14 years ago. He is living the life of Reilly , happy as pie at a horse sanctuary surrounded by other happy horses. Children wash his white tail, they are amazed by his long whiskers. 👍💜🌿🧡🌱🐎
Personal thanks to all involved with this outstanding horse welfare team , wishing Holly and all animals and staff at this fantastic rescue and a healthy and happy 2023 to all 🎉🥂🌹
Those poor babies must have been so scared. I'm so happy they know love and comfort now. If I lived in the UK I would definitely be a volunteer for World horse welfare
Do you ever match up new foals w/Mares who have had stillborns? I know Holly needed intervention by y'all but the littles? Bless you guys! Happy Holidays🎄✌
Sad to see that NO stand in Mother is available....but you give them a chance to god life. If I were you I would defenitly give them bachs flower remedy to cope with loss, sorrow, grief and lonelyness....It really helps.
How come the baby foals aren't bottle fed? I would worry about aspiring through drinking from bucket? Plus it's very soothing to them to suckle for them.

Apologies everyone who has received an error whilst trying to donate to help foals like Holly, we have now fixed this issue - bit.ly/3FuGEwz
To see her walking up to those other horses desperate for one of them to be her Mum. Tragic. She needs lots of love as well as care.
Make my cry….

It turns out that this wonderful rescue centre is just a few miles from my home. What amazing, kind and compassionate people.

Holly is goregous, do you plan on putting these horses up for adoption or sale once old enough?
Was Holly from a feral mare or was she abandoned by human hands? Here in the states, we do have bands of feral horses across the country other than what are perceived as Mustangs.
