I would just like to say that here in America where I live I have seen many deplorable conditions going unnoticed. Reports never followed through. I am amazed at what you have accomplished and am very proud to have seen your work. Very hard to witness but so true around the World. God speed and I hope I can spread the word here about your organization.
+gss star Like imagine this exact conversation if you swapped horses for children. No wacko would ever consider that he was a "good parent" if he had a dead kid in the backyard.
This is horrific! I have a pony that I rescued from the RSPCA, she had laminitis. Trust me you do know when a horse has laminitis! Anyway my welsh pony is still going strong at the age of 23. It is not that difficult to look after them!
Ryder is a sick man! He claims he loves them, but how can he explain the dead stallion on his property?! Good thing he is banned from getting any more horses. They deserve better owners than sick and twisted ones.
What a beautiful chestnut! Great job as always, lovely to see that you guys can make such a difference to these unjustly treat horses. I hope to directly support the cause in the future.
This is so painful to watch. My own pony was overweight when I got him as an 8 yr old. About 3 years in he came down with chronic laminitis and was diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome (type 2 diabetes) a few years later. I have gone to great effort to ensure he's kept in a place with a bark or sand paddock so he can safely be turned out, while carefully monitoring his diet and exercise. These measures have successfully gotten his weight down, and he's now comfortable and healthy at the age of 18. If you can't provide the care the horse needs, you shouldn't have it. Simple.
Oh My Gosh, thank you guys so much. I am glad that man eventually pleaded guilty as now he hopefully knows what he did was terrible. Rest In Peace - to the horses that died in that mans care!
If that is good condition then I'd hate to see his definition of bad. Those poor horses, it's a shame they weren't able to save all of them but at least the few that were saved are in good hands. (posting this almoat a year latter but oh well..)
I would hardly call a field full of poisonous plants, rubbish, dirty water and no field shelter acceptable conditions for a horse. Those horses weren't thin, they were fat and one was laminitic on all four feet. The dead stallion's body would be contaminating the soil as it decomposed. Mr Ryder Large clearly was too proud to ask for help and advice, which would have been given by world horse welfare and information on how to carry out their advice. They could have helped with reducing the weight of the horses, fat scoring, laminitis prevention and many other field/stable management tips that would have negated the need for prosecution.
I have 5 rescued horses. One is a Fjord mare, Second a Dutch warmblood stallion,Third a Thoroughbred that is a blue roan that has a blood mark and is a gelding,Fourth a mini that is a filly, and fith a Appaloosa × QH which is a mare.
he should be in jail! In the US I believe he would have been. Can you imagine not being able to move without excrutiating pain? Watching your dead friend rotting next to you in the field. Attrocious! Laminitis can kill horses as the infection worsens. A horse, unlike a dog, cannot survive on 3 legs. Besides, all 4 feet were inflamed according to the report. In the wild horses run and play and that keeps the feet healthy. In human "care" they are kept in a controlled sized space. Also, horses have evolved to eat low quality food so this fresh green grass is too rich for their system. This horse should have been fed hay only until he healed, then limited to the amount of grass he can consume by controlling his access. It is horse 101 and anyone owning a horse should understand this. It is the responsibility of any animal owner to know how to properly care for that animal or they have no business possessing it. He should have rehomed them after his first encounter with this enforcement agency.
Jennifer Hudacek I know right? I cannot believe that there was a DEAD let me repeat DEAD horse. And just covered in a tarp! I also feel bad for the mare although it can be cured. But seriously? A DEAD horse?!!?!!??
Yet he allowed the field to be unkept and it's just disgusting that he just cover of the dead stallion over with a tarp without reporting it and finding out the cause of death. Weeds toxic to horses or they consumed some rubbish, who knows...and he was too ignorant to care. That field was just a death trap from the git go. Good to hear he's not allowed to own any more horses.
Oh my gosh what an arogant person! Thank you to the people who helped the animals; thank you! Stop those terrible people from ever owning any sort of animal again!
I really don't think this guy intended to abuse these horses... They were actually very fat..... I think he was over feeding them and didn't realize that this is harmful as not feeding them enough... U can't categorize him with the the people who get horses and starve them ... I think his issue is ignorance not purposely being abusive... Just my opinion
I love you guys you guys help so many animals I actually adopted a horse that you saved thank you for saving my horses life and other horses and animals life
In my religion, animals have feelings and presence of mind, but not a soul, so they don't have an afterlife. So the idea that someone would hurt, abuse, or even kill an animal out of sadistic intention... how can you do that? You're not a psychopath, you're not literally incapable of feeling emotion. You did that knowing that it hurt those horses, and that's just evil. Disgusting.
Thank you so much to WHW, spca and the judge for bringing this man to justice and giving him the sentence he got. I wish it had been a ban on owning any animal but this was a great start. I cant wait for more animal abusers to get top sentencing in the future. It is a gift to have animals in your life. If you care for them they will take care of you. If you don't know exactly how that works then you shouldn't have that special gift.I hope these horses live a long happy, comfortable life.
He said ” I sacrificed my life of 30 years feeding them”. It isn't a sacrifice, it is a choice. Horses are not just dumped onto people. He obviously chose to own these horses and then proceeded to choose not to care for them.
Why can't the USA deal with people who neglect / abuse horses and get help from the World Horse Welfare. Our family has reported cases of abuse of animals and no one came to help. We need World Horse Welfare here. Seems Great Britain is more on the ball dealing with people who do not care for animals; and in fact abuse by neglecting: no shelter, no adequate water, not enough food and not appropriate food.!
"There in good condition. :)" (A mare who cant walk and is under wight, a dead over weight stallion, and to other over weight horses) i literally almost cried who would do this.
Dear World Horse Welfar Thank You So Much for saving this horse i am so glad you did this, horses are innocent animals. They don't need this abuse. me personally i am a HUGE Horse Person and i want people to know that if you claim to be a horse person and you look at them and you don't see the innocenness in them aren't the horse person you say you are. Now if you claim to be a horse person and you don't just look at it and you see the inncoentness of thale horse than you truly are a horse person, i know 18 horses, i see the innocentness in all of them and i truly am a horse lover, not hater. please Do Me A Huge Favor and treat the horse the way YOU Want to be treated. Everybody Stop and think. " Why Do I Do These Things To My Horse? Why? Why do i hurt my companion?" Please Please Please Stop Horse Abuse Please!!!
I never said the guy was mentally ill... It was obvious he just didnt know any better...there are many people who have pets that shouldn't... And are neglectful simply because of ignorance not always because of malice...
I don't think he was mentally ill either. I also don't think he understood what was happening to his mare and what also might have happened to the stallion he had. Lots of people think if they are feeding and watering regularly, patching up the occasional injuries that's all that's required. He even said he fed them, they were all in good weight and in fact they were. He simply didn't know about founder (laminitis), the connection with rich forage and surely had not called in a vet. If he could not afford it, he should have called World Rescue and the RSPCA and asked for their help. That's where his fault was really- not seeking adequate farrier and veterinary care.
"All these horses are in good condition" really then why is there a dead horse! Rest in peace your beautiful stallion. May the others live on a long healthy loved life
my uncle had a horse but he was unable to stop it from over eating, even though he did proper research and trying to keep the horse from doing these actions repetitively, the horse never got to any of these horses conditions and my uncle was so concerned for his horse's condition that he turned it over to a professional to see if their was a problem, it turned out the horse had a medical condition that could be treated and is live and well today, but in someone else's care because my uncle moved. No horse should ever be in this condition, ever.
This is shocking! If you can't look after a horse don't get them! When I saw that dead stallion I actually cried humans are so cruel to animals and I am going to save up some money to help world Horse Welfare!
Thank God this beautiful horse got saved...so sad that the others died and never got a chance to change their life for good. May they be safe, the one who got help and resting in peace now for the one who died. I'm sorry 💔
Seeing that beautifully coloured paint lying there dead made me cry. I just can’t imagine. And to think that there are more horses out there suffering the the same condition makes me sick to my stomach.

Why are judges heard to encourage more weight if people want to win??
Sorry admin but I can't subscribe. This is painfully heartbreaking. Thank you and bless to all the loving and caring people who take over care of these animals. Peace and love to the animals xxx
I own horses and it is so disgusting to me to see something like this happen, they are amazing, beautiful creatures, and deserve to be properly cared for.
they need to have an animal cop that comes to EVERYONE'S every year to see how animals are being taken care of. that guy should of never been aloud to have any animals
I literally feel fury and rage when I see too long detailed a story on TV. so I have to limit / balance my anmal love with not gettng fired up every day in choosing whether to watch Animal Planet (not as good now as it was 2 yrs ago lots of macho men programs which have nothing to do with anmal welfar SERIUSLY?? TREEE HOUSES as a continuing series on an ANIMAL network? or big fish tanks for overly weathy people??? anyhow...I've kept 1/2 eye on horse abuse cases/ law for a few years now, also problems in thorobr. racing and proteins and other suppleents or painkillers s they will run on a leg/ hoof that is damaged on /RAce Day. Thx for writing back Alyssa and enjoy your day
While I am very upset by what happened to the horses on the farm I'm not so sure the "Animal Police" are needed to go to everyone's farm to see how they care for their animals. It's an invasion of privacy for one thing. Better yet we enforce laws already on the books and ramp up the rescue facilities available for the unfortunate animals of the world. Owners selling to people need to be more certain the buyers can in fact care for the animal as well. That would go a long way to helping many. Don't sell just to unload an animal... be sure they can care for the horse, dog, whatever. I would be highly offended by anyone coming to just inspect my farm. I have nothing to hide but I don't need the government coming by to check on me.
I friggin hate that Mr Ryder-Large dude. Like frik off mate. "I treat them well" THERE WAS A FREAKING DEAD STALLION. That was a beautiful horse and probably still would be if he wasn't owned by a awful man.
Thanks everyone for sharing and your comments, please don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more films about World Horse Welfare!
It's a shame that this happens to horses, that stallion would've been beautiful in the right hands
"They were in good conditions!" *camera shows dead horse*
Glad this man is now banned from owning horses.
"they're in good condition"
shows dead stallion*
He said, "They were all in good condition." OMG! Did he think they were sleeping?! 😨
I can't stand animal abuse ! I just cant
No equestrian can😔💔
"They were in good condition"
Apart from the fact that one was dead and another couldn't walk... :/
That man should never own any animal, there is obviously something wrong in his head
I love people like this that go miles and miles to save these horses. it amazes me how much dedication they have
I would just like to say that here in America where I live I have seen many deplorable conditions going unnoticed. Reports never followed through. theyre well looked after you say? well then why do you have a DEAD HORSE IN YOUR FIELD!
+gss star I know right?
Well , at least he was caught ^_^
+gss star Like imagine this exact conversation if you swapped horses for children. No wacko would ever consider that he was a "good parent" if he had a dead kid in the backyard.
I felt so bad for the mare, poor girl was in so much pain :(
HE SEEMED SLIGHTLY MAD . THANK HEAVEN YOU TOOK THE HORSES THANK SO MUCH FOR YOUR INVALUABLE WORK .
he fed the horses but did not keep up their care...but he looks like he may have mental issues
How has he sacrificed 'his life'????????????????? More like the horses sacrificed their life....
"They are in good condition." I don't know what world this guy lives in, but you don't have a worse condition then dead and crippled..
Well just looking at him explains it all.
How could people treat horses like this
well, I think someones comment about mental illness explains it. He sure seems to act erratically and not seem to know what is going on.
l337pwnage Yep. Everything about how he looks, speaks, and acts says "mentally ill" to me. I feel sorry for both him and the horses.
R.I.P

Thank you for giving the horses a voice!

One dead horse, and another in severe pain. How can this jerk possibly say that he cares about them?? I don't understand people.
it it good he can't have horses anymore but i couldn't help but laugh when he said "they were in good conditions!" and then showed the dead horse.
Seems to me that England needs to tighten up on the laws and put his ass in jail for a few years instead of just banning him....
IF U CANT KEEP IT GET RID OF IT INSTEAD OF LETTING THEM DIE
"They were in good conditions!"
*dead horse*
"they're in good condition, i sacrificed my life to feed them!" nah, if you didnt tell me i wouldve of thought your horse playing dead.
“ they were in good condition “

He got a suspended sentence - how is that paying a price?
he should of gotten a life time of jain or at least 5 years
"good condition"... beautiful horse you have there, Mr. Rider. looks like it has quite the unusual sleeping pattern, standing up too.
"they were in good condition" cuts to dead horse, now im dying lmao
Thank you for all that good work! Thank you for caring and doing what is necessary. Keep up the good work!
"They were in good condition."
/pans to horse laying dead in field.
Yeah, OK, buddy....
So, was that guy just going to allow that deceased stallion to rot out in his field? The body looked bloated to me.
These people have to be psychopaths to mistreat animals the way they do. This is horrible! I hope that these animals get a fighting chance.
Mr Large- 'I feed em well'
Me- 'A little too well I think'
Should have been a ban on keeping any animal for life not just horses.
I can't believe someone could do this to a horse and act like nothing is happening.
He said ” I sacrificed my life of 30 years feeding them”. It isn't a sacrifice, it is a choice. Horses are not just dumped onto people. He obviously chose to own these horses and then proceeded to choose not to care for them.
The scumbag should be locked up. Thank you for rescueing the poor horses, it's amazing
how do horses over eat on grass? isnt that their natural food?
tia
i am in love with a rescue horse. he came from a place just like this and i don't know where my life would be without him. I love you Colemen

Me too! When I get older, I may open up a rescue shelter for horses if I make enough money :)
Sarah Moran
Thats so thoughtful I think I want to too!
Thank you!! Letting animals suffer like that is terrible. Glad you have a way to deal with such a-holes!
Cleaning hooves is easy and fast! I did that all alone when I was just 16.
Thank God this beautiful horse got saved...so sad that the others died and never got a chance to change their life for good. May they be safe, the one who got help and resting in peace now for the one who died. I'm sorry 💔
"they where in good condition"
defo a dead stallion and unwell mare is good condition -__-
Poor things.. THAT man is just so! Why would he let those poor horses get that way! I just can't nope I would never let that happen to my babies
Mr Ryder needs to take care of himself let alone a horse 😭😭🙄 poor horses
Seeing that beautifully coloured paint lying there dead made me cry. I just can’t imagine. And to think that there are more horses out there suffering the the same condition makes me sick to my stomach.
I wish all animal abusers got this ended up with this result!
Mr Ryder thought the Stallion was just sleeping after a nice meal
"There in good condition "
*shows dead stallion * 😔
Just plain sickening. Put him in jail and throw away the key.
see that's what we need here in Canada, a BAN on having animals if they are seen to be unfit keepers of animals
Wow......I am shocked......
.
How could someone do this?
So why is my farrier highlighting the plight of show horses, fattened purposely for the ring and a breath away from laminitis. This mans ignorance caused suffering, and he was rightly prosecuted and banned from keeping horses, but there's a culture of over feeding and fat horses at every show you go to.....why aren't they prosecuted? Why are judges heard to encourage more weight if people want to win??
This is so so sad,, but I wheezed when he hid behind the van-
*I dedicated 30 years of my life to these horses* Well mate, you obviously didn't do a good job did ya

Who's with me?👍
I own horses and it is so disgusting to me to see something like this happen, they are amazing, beautiful creatures, and deserve to be properly cared for.
Bless you W.H.W thank you
I sooooo wanted to see how that pad looked applied to her hives and see how she walked after, never had seen that, I have to go look it up
All my horses are in great condition! *Pans over to dead stallion*
Sure.....
Thank you for helping them.
they need to have an animal cop that comes to EVERYONE'S every year to see how animals are being taken care of. that guy should of never been aloud to have any animals
but it would need to be non-pre-\warned / scheduled bc the bad peepol would just make everything lovely on that one day
