Dude this set was heart racing. Sean is a new favourite of mine. His gameplay is not only clean, but super entertaining to watch. Cosmos was the perfect opponent. Both of them kept the fast pace of the matches all the way through. Great job by both players
There are very few ballsy enough to go for a double footstool in a tournament match. There are even fewer who would do it in a top 8 qualifier match. But Sean is just that man.
As a person who plays Captain falcon I love his high risk high reward because when you bet it all, The crowd is always on your side.. Great job on both players.
6:56 That down throw to reverse up air to back air is so clean. I've tried doing this before but I'm bad, but I felt like it was possible to get the sour spot up air into bair. I don't think it's true, but it's not something people would expect.
if you have tap jump turned off, you can hold the stick up and to the left to turn around imediently, and then you can imput a short hop and a Aerial and you will get up air, because well you are holding up, and then change directions to point your stick to the right, and do jump aerial to get backair. Luigi also does sour spot up air into back air at 50 percent off of a grab, so I am familiar with this
Falcon main here. Its true and good to catch di in/down/maybe up at ~45 and good to catch di in at ~75 with the full hop reverse upair back air(can kill near ledge). At 75 the opponent can di away the up air to not get hit by the back air. You can tilt cancel to get the reverse up air to be more reliable at the ~45%. Started implementing this into my gameplay in Novemberish and it is hella clean but harder to pull off than other things(like idj)
Definitely the hypest Falcon. In general, I think there are other more technical players. But that's a character thing. I too come back to this set every once in a while because I miss Sean at thise big tournaments :(

That set was insane... Sean's Falcon reminds me a bit of (better) Marss'. In a sense that yeah, he's probably not as good and polished as Fatality, but the guy's options are so bonkers and unpredictable that it's working.

That is the very definition of carried. It’s different then when MKLeo and Spargo used the character. They already proved time and time again they can still place consistently high without relying on a carry character like Aegis It took until MKLeo having an interest in Corrin for Ultimate to show the character can win events while Cosmos apparently couldn’t make Corrin work in Ultimate

So he was still a good player, is he playing better now cause hes playing a strong character yeah but is not carried. Carried would be if he was not even in the PGR at all and now he was placing like this.
Falcon players always seem to do well against Aegis, which is pretty weird tbh. Like I still think Aegis still solidly beat Falcon, but still weird. Reminds me of how in Melee, Samus players always seem to do well against Fox players despite Fox winning that matchup.
Cosmos has had trouble with Falcon since Sm4sh. Kind of makes sense, since Cosmos has random moments of choking and doing weird options, Falcon will light you up and shift the momentum in a heartbeat.
Probably the second best Falcoln right now, and he's been getting better and better. He also plays with Fatality ever now and then. I definitely get student-teacher vibes from those two.

When you hit someone's shield you get pushed back a bit, so cosmos landed onstage but the pushback from hitting shield pushed cosmos back offstage and cancelled the move

I feel like Cosmos found out glaring issues in his gameplay by playing this set. First of all, his off stage game, in which he got outclassed every single time. He never managed to punish Sean properly, even without jump. And then...well he messed up quite a bit of important things. A kill confirm on Pyra, and some SDs
This felt less like Sean was winning and more like Cosmos was losing. He's been doing way better since picking up a stronger character but his nerves have always been what's really held him back
To be fair, Sean forced most of those "SD's". Photon edge didn't reach - but if it had, he would have gotten stomped. UpB missing ledge - but he had to drift back, or else down tilt would have hit him to death. So really it was only one unforced SD, and the rest he was either forced to SD or would have died either way. Unfortunate, but not something that lost him the set. Sean was simply better, and probably should have had that 3-0, in my opinion.

Cosmos had beaten Fatality several times. His biggest enemy is himself. The first 2 games are in Cosmos lead but he was too greedy to kill.
