What a way to end 2021. I... liked this tournament, it has flaws (one the worst was the underdog boost being on for TWO days), but, it was good, and required a lot of work. I'm not very good talking English, so, I won't say too much, but thank you, at the end of the day, it was nice. I hope we get another SWT tour next year/years.
The outcome of SWT proves 3 things: 1. Leo is the undisputed best player in the world. 2. Pyra/Mythra is the undisputed best character in the game. 3. Cosmos is carried by Pyra/Mythra. Now let me explain: Cosmos is a great player, the best Pyra/Mythra even. But we REALLY don’t want a meta where there’s one character that’s clearly the best and whoever optimizes that character the best wins it all. That’s why Leo winning with Byleth is so damn important for the game.
I feel like people will learn ways to beat Pyra/Mythra with time, so it won't be as bad as Brawl or Smash 4 in how popular the top character is. I think the vast majority of players will play Pythra, but the end results won't be dominated by the character. I'd say a year down the line roughly 60% of competitors will be Pyra/Mythra players, It's only a matter of time until MKLeo starts solo-maining Pythra, too. However, I don't think that the end results will always be top8 Pythras. I figure that people will still have the tools to beat Pythra with character like Pikachu. By the time Pythra dominates the meta, I'd say the game should be retired by then. I wouldn't expect that to happen until 3 years have passed.
@@paolosworld99 if it’s only 10% as bad as smash 4 it’s bad enough. For example what you’re describing is horrible. Ultimate’s strength so far has been the massive roster and the constantly evolving meta. Take away the WiFi Sonics and ROB’s in this tournament and it’s a fantastically diverse lineup character wise. Half the cast is represented including secondaries
@@AndreasSaag Yeah but most of these people have been playing characters since the release of the game, I feel like a lot of them will wake up and switch to Pythra with time.
not gonna lie, I was disappointed at Byleth's announcement but watching Leo's unreal Byleth gameplay made me fall in love with the character. Just so fun to watch
Leo is still number 1 and faithful to Byleth more than anything, Japanese players coming more often will bring players like tea and zackray, kola will be more consistent in top 8 as will light possibly. Other than spargo and cosmos? Not really likely to see a domineering through aegis
@@turntech4776 that’s what they said about brawl metaknight, smash 4 cloud, and then smash 4 bayo. at first it was ok and then people realized she’s so good they either better have them as a secondary or main because they invalidate over 3/4 of the cast, it became a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation. I’m not saying that’s gonna happen, but I wouldn’t say it’s “not likely” Since we have seen this happen in every game but melee
@@rhysjones1108 not smash 64 the goat game 😈. But in all seriousness I really don’t think she’s all that amazing, there’s good normals yeah but not enough jank lmao. It’s a weird concept but all the really good characters have some aspects to them that just feel funky, waft, banana, Byleth killing dabuz’s Rosa at 64 onstage with a back air, arsene, etc. these are all mechanics that allow for extreme turnarounds and clutch factor. Whereas aegis has phenomenal buttons, but that’s it, you still have to outplay your opponents using those good normals. I think bayonetta and metanights ability to invalidate the cast was so big because of the fact that if you just knew your combos or had your frame 2 aerial ready you could escape from a bad situation and take a stock without really being the better player as much and I can’t see that happening with aegis. Aegis won’t make up for your bad habits being read by letting you fly under the stage for 10 minutes or 0 to death when you win neutral once
Cosmos was the highlight of this entire tournament. I was just rooting for him the entire way. That being said, congrats to Leo! But man, cosmos stole the show
At this point I don't even know what to think about Leo man. He destroyed those he beat "closely" in the past tournaments, espacially Kola and Sparg0. Only Cosmos kinda shaked him at little bit this tourney. The consistency and adaptation of this guy are just out of this world
I’ve BEEN saying since cosmos started playing aegis, he’s starting to look like a serious threat. This character fits him so well and it’s showing. I personally think his aegis is by far the most entertaining to watch. I want cosmos to be a top 5 player so bad. He deserves it!
While it looked like Cosmos would finally slay the final boss, the man pulled a 2nd phase transformation, and grapple-hooked his Aegis straight to the abyss!
A lot of people are gonna say Cosmos is carried by Aegis, and maybe to an extent thats true. But one thing I or anybody cant deny is the work he has put in to improve and be better (especially if you seen him play on Nairo's streams).
Favorite player bias aside who do you think will struggle in the new meta? Everyone by default is auto on the list now due to the wallblock that is Spargo, he doesnt go out early and theres almost zero chance you dont have to play him to get to Leo, which cosmos demostrated he can do. (Mentality is a part of your play, if you cant clean it up you will lose, simple as that) Some more that might struggle: -Tweek: (when he returns if he doesnt figure something out) -Marss -Maister -Light (these MUs tho) -Esam (yes.)

SPOILER:
gotta love that it ends with the "leo special"
This set was absolutely incredible to watch, even with UA-cam's 12 ads.
The outcome of SWT proves 3 things:
@@rhysjones1108 not smash 64 the goat game 😈. But in all seriousness I really don’t think she’s all that amazing, there’s good normals yeah but not enough jank lmao.
