Kind of sad that i had to find out about this from drunk history....the mlb should mention him from time to time ffs..this is unreal and inspirational.
Don't feel bad dude because Drunk history brought me here as well lol that show is fucking awesome ;)
Bryan Pena Yup, drunk history brought me here too. We're sad.
Bryan Pena I was thinking the same thing, a no hitter with only one hand only 20 years ago, I watch baseball all the time, why am I just hearing about this?!
Bryan Pena Seriously! This is fucking incredible!
Those who dislike this video all have two hands.
I'm handicapped and he gave me more motivation to try harder to get better at skateboarding big up Jim Abbott should have got more notoriety
Chris Maw the only handicap is the one you place on yourself. Unless you're a vegetable they're fucked
Simply amazing I’m not a Yankees fan but when Don Larsen was honored for his no hitter in WS many yrs ago he was attending that day to witness David Cone throw a perfect game!
Hm i don’t believe ya
@@cloudproud729 That is pretty damn rude. Not everybody is a liar like yourself.
You have no records of me lying so that makes you a liar saying I’m a liar
man, he single-handedly took out the Indians.
I see what you did there
Super Saiyan Solid Snake hahahahahaha
FACT!
Sad that that's the only way some of you punks get their rocks off, by cussing. GROW UP!
You probably have two hands and still managed to misspell that
You know what I loved and respected most about Jim Abbott?
It’s the fact that even though he only had one hand, he was one of the best fielding Pitchers in all of Baseball. Players would try to take advantage of him only having one hand by bunting down the 3rd Baseline, and he would throw them out every single time.
There’s a famous story about this one game he had back when he was in Little League. The opposing teams Coach saw how Jim Abbott only had one hand; so he told his entire team to bunt every single time they’re up to bat. The first batter bunted and was safe at 1st. The next 8 batters all bunted, and Jim Abbott threw every single one of them out. Every single one. After the first time around the lineup the Coach told his team not to bunt anymore. Jim Abbott ended up winning that game and threw a 1 Hitter. That one hit was the first batter who bunted and reached safe. That was it. Now that’s a legend!
Great story
Thanks for sharing this 🥰
wow
That coach got what he deserved 😆
Best No-hitter of all time
easily
No
Didn't Sandy Koufax have a hung over no-no?
No no on lsd is pretty sweet
No
This should have over a million views. A one handed guy throwing a no hitter in the major leagues...Epic!!
Kris Hammer he only needs one hand to throw
No one cares about bald swimmers and their plights !!
This is at 999k views right now! Any day now!
Adam Commercial 1 million
and here we are
This is one of the greatest moments in sports history, and shame on the MLB for not talking about him more. He is probably the most inspirational baseball player ever.
The fact that this guy made it to the pros is already extremely impressive and insane alone. But to throw a no hitter? WOW.
This has to be up there with one of the most underrated athletic achievements of all time. I mean, even within the baseball community, it's not talked about a lot at all.
And this was against what would become one of the most dominant offensive line ups in the mid to late 90s. Lofton, Baerga, Belle, Ramirez Thome, Alomar jr.
Forreal Haha
Not one of the most. THE MOST. More like one of the most dominant offensive lineups of ALL-TIME.
Omar Vizquel as well?
Vizquel,Sandy Alomar, David Justice too
I know this is cliche but man dont ever let people tell you something is impossible
Most people thought it would have been impossible for him to even get to the major leagues
@Terrence Odonnell that's generally not gonna happen but it did in Abbot's case. Getting there and then sticking around is really hard to do
King Rat especially with one hand!
@@joeporonto3324 yea the odds are slim even if you are 💯 percent physically sound. Abbott was a one off
I’ve seen a 10 year old pitch with one hand as a major ball player and dang I was so impressed with what he had
That Indians lineup was no joke. Impressive pitching by Jim.
Save skippy!
Drunk History didn't send me here. Watched this when I was in fourth grade in '04, YES Network was showing it as one of those Yankee Classics. This moment isn't talked about enough in my opinion.
Totally agree. This man is very inspiring. Jim had a great career and he is a great man. This game isn't talked enough about. He wrote a book called "imperfect: an improbable life" it's so inspiring
@Evil Ghandi I was 11. I think 5th grade. What a memory.
I was at that game in the stands behind the Yankee dugout. I've been a fan since 1961 and this is one of my most treasured memorable games!!
Can't believe I've never heard of this man. That's amazing, good for you, Jim Abbott.
Jim Abbott taught every child in the stands that day a valuable and beautiful lesson. I had to learn about it on Drunk History though.
Nice pfp
He wears a mask just to cover the raw flesh
A rather ugly brother with flows that's gorgeous
This guy has not been talked about enough. He was such an inspiration to so many. This moment was legendary
I HATE the Yankees, but I have a ton of respect for Jim Abbott.
Being a baseball fan that hates the Yankees is like being a Christian that hates Jesus. Respect the savior of your sport.
He's Right
LaughterMadeFat Thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Thats no where near the same. Horrible analogy.
LOL dumb saints fan taking the bait
Daniel S Oh gosh im dumb....Amazing comeback. You must be a natural.
Hello people brought together by UA-cam’s algorithm of putting this in our recommendation list 6 years after being uploaded lol

Larnuz FN cringe
Reddit brought me here May 2020
And I'm not even a baseball fan
Nope. Searched for this after being intrigued by audiobook
Angels fans remember and love Jim Abbot! So much respect.
One of the most inspirational players of all time. Jim Abbott was a true hero to the game of baseball.
Best no-hitter EVER!
I was all of 10 years old when that happened, and I was so incredibly happy that this happened! So awesome, and an inspiration to all that a man with one arm tossed a no-hitter!
I was 14 and didn't have cable. All radio and was sooooo happy.
R S Wow that’s awesome to hear!
This is arguably the best moment in MLB history!
Its definitely top 3 or 5
@@gamerlife4276 dude, he has one hand!
MyKeeP81 alright cool
Jackie Robinson taking the field in 1947 is far more impactful from a historical perspective.
One of the most proud moments in MLB . I’m glad to have watched it on TV
Dont forget that this guy is 2-21 batting in the NL as well. Thats a better avg than some pitchers with both hands.
That's why baseball is an amazing sport for all intent and purposes this should never have happened but jim never let his so called disability get in the way of his dream god bless america only in america can a man who was told he would never be in the mlb flourish awesome
Sorry but this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he lived in America
you wanna tune down on that patriotism
Ethan Chan shut up son. If the guy wants to be patriotic then let him.
I literally never heard about this until last year. Unreal how nobody talks about this anymore
I read Jim Abbott's book, Imperfect. What an incredible individual. He's humble, unassuming, and shows great vulnerability. I emailed his editor after I read it, and Jim actually replied to me himself. The guy is just an incredible human being. I get choked up just watching this video.
I was at this game when i was 5 and remember every min of it too, that was the best game I've ever been to and now tell my kids the story of Jim Abbott's no hitter!! Absolutely amazing
Probably the most inspirational thing I've seen in a long time
This is the most amazing man pitcher in history New York organization God bless Jim Abbott
i was 10 years old when he did this i remember it well what a moment in mlb history
I saw him pitch at Fenway park. On a hard ground ball. He got his glove on, scooped it up and fired it to 1st for the out. Jim got a huge round of applause from the boston fans. We were in awe.
I’m an Oakland A’s fan and saw him pitch all the time when he was on the Angels (Angels are in our division so we play the Angels a lot), he was so damn good! Forget he’s one handed, he was just an amazing pitcher outright but add that he’s one handed, wow...
This is my favorite Yankees memory of all time.
This has to be one of the greatest moments in baseball history. No question.
What a great story. No one even talks about it.
Hell of an accomplishment. '93 was finally the year the Yanks turned it around & began their winning ways. Boggs & O'Neill joined the team, solid guys like Mike Stanley & Mike Gallego provided stability & a young Bernie Williams was in the mix too if you notice...also a 20 something yr old Brian Cashman with hair(lol) can be seen in the suite celebrating with Stick Michael & Willie Randolph @3:26...these moments jumpstarted our future dynasty that began in the mid 90s
Still have this guy's topps card, what a inspiration! 😊
A shining moment in one of the darkest periods in Yankees history. 🙌🙌🙌
I got to see Jim Abbott pitch a shut out. July of 1993 against the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium. Mike Stanley the catcher of the Yankees got a Grand Slam. What an amazing day I'll never forget. God Bless Jim Abbott. What a inspiration. 👍
Two underrated Yankees, Jim Abbot and Mike Stanley✌🏿✌🏿
I remmeber Jim Abbott. Something very special. I was amazed then as a little kid and now as an adult I’m still amazed. You can accomplish anything!!
Watched this while it happened on the MSG channel. I was 10 years old and never thought the Yankees would ever make the playoffs but this gave me hope, and boy did that hope pay off a few years later.
I’m with you man. I definitely remember watching this on MSG at age 11. We only had to wait 3 more years for the Yankee Dynasty
It's amazing how much sports telecasting changed in look in a few short years. By the 96 world series the games looked so different. By 2000 completely different. Technology really jumped in those days
glad I came across this video and was reminded how awesome Jim Abbott was.
Inspirational
Legend . Always be remembered
You really have to hand it to him....
AlphaDeltaXray
I'd give my right arm to do that.
😒
Lol fucked up
I would say he won that handily! (it's a word, means easily)
I'd also say he won it hands down!
Yeah well, he had a leg up on the competition. He disarmed their heavy hitters.
Very courageous and inspirational. I always loved Jim Abbott especially when he pitched for the Angels.
I freaking love baseball
Happy Belated Birthday to Jim Abbott 9-19-67.Flint,Michigan.
this is unbelievably awesome
I remember this game. Abbott knew it could not have happened without the guys backing him in the field .... Great achievement for him and the team ... High fives all around...
He should be the face of the hall of fame
While I would like to see him get in; Jim Abbott not being in the HOF is understandable. His MLB career was average. He had one no hitter and in his rookie season he was the 3rd place in AL Cy Young voting (behind Roger Clemens and Scott Erickson). In my opinion Jim Abbott's most impressive feat was being part of the 1988 Olympics gold medalist baseball team. which was an acomplishmemt outside of the MLB (which i don't think the hof voters take outside accomplishments into concenderation).
I hope Jim someday gets in, But Jim would want to get in as a player and not as a pity vote.
Lovely !! He was born that way !! Absolutely Lovely
When I was in middle school we all knew about Jim Abbot. We thought he was amazing just for playing in the majors with one hand. Good to see he was amazing because he could actually pitch!
Abbott is what legends are made of.
I did a project and presentation about Jim Abbott when I was in 3rd grade. I even had to dress up in a home made baseball uniform.
I’ve just watched a coach telling Jim’s story , so decided to look him up. How on earth did I not hear of him. I’m from the UK and we don’t have baseball over here. What a story 👍🇬🇧.
What an incredible man.
One of my favorite moments in baseball history
You can really hear the emotion in his voice when the announcer called the last out.
I was at that game. Abbott was outstanding, and as the game wore on, his teammates really stepped up to support him with some incredible plays. Sports at their greatest.
@Terrence Odonnell Actually, I was. We were there for a buddies' bachelor party. Almost got in a brawl b/c the groom-to-be jumped on one play and dropped his beer all over the guy in front of us. I think it cost us two rounds for the guys to prevent a fight and miss the end of the game. Those were good days. Try to avoid aging if you can.
And I'm not kidding about the fielding. The whole Yankee team - and everybody in the stadium totally stepped up to support him. One of the most electrifying, inspiring experiences of my life.
This video has 758K views, yet it deserves well over 1M views.
What a glorious day, I remember watching this with my grandfather and dad, now I show these clips to my son and grandson.
Grande Yim Abbott, ejemplo de inspirasion.
I never thought this even happened until UA-cam recommended it to me. Probably one of the most underrated moments in mlb history
I am a standup comic from japan trying something almost impossible, to make my career here in North America, but after seeing this I have no excuse to give up...
Never give up
Pick away at it hardwork gets you places
As a fellow Abbott, this man definitely did our last name more than good. I love him.! He's such an inspiration 💜👏🏽😭
This Is Awesome! Truly An Inspiration!!
oh my gosh...how come ive never heard about this? nearly brought me to tears
The best no-hitter
The one hand no hitter
This is once in a lifetime pitcher. One handed amazing. I remember my dad showed me what he could do.
Drunk history didn't send me here. My dad told me about it when I was a kid.
Uh huh right...
BOSS NASS I was in the stands I was definitely one of the best games I've ever seen
+nathan reiman it would be so cool to see a no hitter in person
Matt Nokes: The guy that you were guaranteed to pull out of every single 1988 topps wax pack.
I mean THIS DUDE would pitch, holding his glove with his nub, and would be able to transfer the glove to his hand seamlessly. Wow
Still get teared up seeing this all these years later.
You have to be either a communist or a Cleveland Indians fan to downvote this.
I’m a huge indians fan and I gave it a like
What if your a communist Cleveland Indians fan?
I'm a communist and I upvoted it
I'm also communist and also upvoted, communists love baseball
Jake Morris but not food
Such a sweet and wholesome moment, I couldn't help but smile throughout..
I was at that game I remember that
30 years ago today! An incredible accomplishment for Jim Abbott and a favorite childhood memory for me. ⚾️
I was there it was magical
One of the greatest things in baseball ever. Absolutely amazing 👌👌👌
While I can't open my wine properly with my both hands.
I was myself born with one hand. Could not figure out how to play baseball. Watched this dude, thought I'd learn something, nope. I found a home with football and basketball but will forever idolize this man.
How come I do not see him during "Old Timers Day"? He should be there too. imo
I was a 11 year old kid growing up in Brooklyn, NY.
Jim was an inspiration to everyone!
I’ll never forget watching this in our basement apartment on Avenue K and 82nd Street in Canarsie!
Some things you never forget!
The sweet old days!
😊
Jim Abbott, from University of Michigan
this guy was a legend at my elementary school back in the day. not that i went to elementary school with him, we just all had his baseball cards and thought it was the coolest thing ever he was in the major leagues.
I followed almost every game of his career. Several years where he pitched great for the Angels but they gave him no run support.
tl;dr
A miraculous moment that I'm sure Jim Abbott treasures forever. I know baseball fans do.
He Did It! He Did It! 0:20
Another reason why the Yankees are the greatest franchise in American Sports
I'd give my right arm to be able to throw like him.
TheGuyWhoIsAustralian
It’s funny ‘cause he’s left handed.
Electro Ball that’s why he said that 2 yrs ago 🤦🏼♀️
Wow this guy was something else , awesome player..
Boy meets World Sent me here.
UchihaKagai LMFAO WHAT
So true. S1E9
UchihaKagai an underrated show for sure.
Baseball truly is for everyone.
If you don't like baseball you're nuts
Or you play cricket.
He was really good player.Heart of true champion
What a story he was. Born without a right hand and he pitched a no hitter for the NY Yankees. The most decorated franchise in all of baseball and arguably in all of sports.
Not enough people know about Jim Abbott and his story of becoming a pro ball player. What a crime.
