  • This week on the About Violence Podcast, we are joined by Matt Beaudreau, Co-Founder of Acton Academy Placer and Acton Academy Sacramento, Travis Joyner, Combatives/Firearms instructor, and Tim Kennedy, your host and mixed martial artist, to discuss one of the most dangerous things existing on our planet and that is a fractured young man.
Apogee Strong prepares young men to take on challenges presented by the men who have come before them. The program provides a means for young men to become true leaders through mentorship, action, and self-discovery.
What do you want to hear next? Feel free to comment, and we'll do our best to cover it!

I highly recommend following Matt Beaudreau. His thought/contributions will influence your value system on learning and education before your child is even school aged.

Also, as a dad, these concepts of being a principled, disciplined and compassionate father, also apply to raising daughters as well as sons.

83 model here, I was always with dad working on cars, building, hunting and shooting. Then when in the house we where with mom learning to cook, clean and run the house hold basics. We had such a head start on on our peers in basic human things. My parents where hard but always fair. I Thank them everyday.

Appreciate you guys. You are on the right track. Only one man ever lived perfectly, and it certainly wasn’t me. There is one unavoidable truth I didn’t hear brought up, though maybe it was in another episode. Without it everything else will ultimately be cannon fodder.
“Only one life, it will soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”
Without being salvaged by the one who created us, we remain “dust in the wind”.
Praying God‘s best for you guys in the new year.

It's not easy to be a father, it's work that doesn't end.
This topic is never talked about and should be national.
I believe this is a huge part of the shooter problem our nation is facing.

These school shooters with disengaged/toxic/criminally negligent families aren't going to Sunday school, they likely aren't going to sports, they don't have access to mentors or support in existing outside the fucked up home environment. I agree it's mentorship that is needed, and frankly someone who shows them that they are valued and valuable. But how do you reach these kids in the first place? I think this is a key issue.

Exactly. Most school staff are mentally checked out, doing a job they hate. I went to a guidance counselor for any help and got nothing. That was twenty years ago and I don't imagine it's gotten any better.

Best episode yet. First year as a father of twins with my 3rd on the way, and this episode embodies all the latent thoughts I have every waking minute of how I intend to accomplish my new life-long mission as a Father.
Our entire country needs to start having this exact same conversation.

Would love to hear yall talk about overcoming fear. I'm a father of 3, who grew up without a father. I didn't learn to overcome fear in a healthy way and would love to hear how others teach this to children.

You need to address the effect of feminism and family Court on the breakdown of the family structure in the US. The vast majority of school shooters are from broken homes and mom has control. Hold women responsible for their part in this breakdown.

I think this is a great idea!!! So is Tim gonna admit to his active fight against our second amendment??? To be clear, Tim was a role model of mine!! Then I found out he’s a hypocrite!! How do you set there and say things like this and then go elsewhere and claim WE should have rights taken, not YOU of course!! Apparently your special Lol 😂 you should follow your own advice Tim!!

This podcast is a symbol of toxic masculinity. Young, macho men talking about violent stuff. No good. I would never do BJJ or boxing or any of that toxic masculinity stuff. I believe we as men need to embrace our feminine side a bit more. For example I do ballet dancing 3 days a week and I can say it has completely changed my life and my worldview. I def recommend it to all young men out there.

I believe the point of this topic to be setting an example and actively being part of your son's life. Don't read into the title and think that they said its necessary to raise your kids with violence or masculinity.
And BTW, I don't believe that you listened to their broadcast.

Love the show and love a respectful conversation, but the man to the right of Kennedy seems a little strange with how he stares a hole through someone that’s not even speaking to him directly
