Will It Run? Let's Polish This Old Turd!
Вставка

- In "Help Needed", Taryl tackles an old rototiller from 1980 and Slippers calls the Lawn Mower Detectives when something appears to be wrong at the shop. The mower detectives show up and are forced to drawn their weapons... How will it end??
After the intro and before the conclusion, Taryl attempts to polish this old turd of a rototiller. What brand even is this thing? Looks like a Lawn-Boy but it's not. Anyway, can he bring this old piece of vintage fecal back from the septic? Or should it stay flushed where it once belonged, in the scrap yard. And as always... There's Your Dinner!!

My dad had one of those, exactly color scheme everything. He bought it at Montgomery Wards in Detroit back in the day. Tilled the garden every year for years with it!!!
Those old machines and tools sold by Wards are great
My uncle had one from Monkey Wards in Mt,Clemens it was two tone brown.
1. Love the sketches (and outtakes).
2. Taryl, you're the Turdmeister. Thanks for a great video.

I have been having a really crappy weekend. Your video made me smile and laugh for a little while, as they always do , thanks guys.
Be awesome working with taryl and everyone. Learning alot every day
I love when you guys do LMD. So fun to watch.
Unbelievable Video, thank you , because of you I am repairing lots of small engines. And I do it has a hobby. From Canada Montreal
Love seeing this old abandoned stuff resurrected, great job, thanks guys👏👍
When I was a kid we had a neighbor who got hurt real bad while using this “Roto-Killer”. I spotted it when he tossed it out and swapped out the engine and put it on my mini-bike frame. Worked out pretty good.
Thanks for all of the videos and skits
I love these skits so much-thanks guys!
Happy Birthday Taryl!! 🎂🎉 Hope you have a great day. I enjoy watching your videos every week. Thanks for all you folks do to help us with our small engines!
🤠
Junior detective has poor muzzle discipline
Thanks Taryl and company for all the great videos I wait for the new video every week to watch. I'm a huge fan of Taryl Fixes All and the Grass rat garage crew use do a excellent job in what you do.
Flathead for the win!
Thank you for sharing your years of experience Taryl.
Small engines are my hobby after retirement.
Your videos are the best on You Tube.
Great recovery on that tiller. Sometimes you have to reverse engineer the crummy work by the previous owner to fix a problem. This is a nicely running tiller, that took some patience and experience to fix. To rescue this machine from the scrap yard and repair to such a good state must be a satisfying feeling.
Probably will outlast the china junk they sell now.
"Guns Guns Guns!" - Junior.
That has to be from a local gunshop TV or Radio spot. LOL!!!
I've explained this to you before Taryl, petroleum & derivatives ain't got nothing to do with dinosaurs. That's a fairy tale 🧚🏼♀
Happy birthday Taryl!
I have a buddy who's Dad has a spring manufacturing business in his garage. garage is ram packed with spring making machines and only has walking space between them. It was a very interesting tour of his garage as he can manufacture any spring to high specs and tolerances, high performance engine valve springs to itsy bitsy ones. Wondered how much you could make on spring then I saw a pallet box that I when I picked up handful I was like, there must be ten million in there. Sits there in the garage churning out mucho de boingo ef yeah.
Love these guys. You can learn a lot watching them
So much fun watching your videos...... pure entertainment..... Thanks everyone 🤣😂
Happy birthday Taryl
Thanks for another great video crew.
There's lawn mower detective skits are funny as hell.
I love it! Enjoyed watching, thanks for the entertainment and education. Keep up the good work!
high pitch voice, * but Taryl your scratching your garage floor all up! haha
Best thing on those starter clutch is 3 in one oil !!! WD 40 is good to break things lose but it don't last and actually dries it out. I go to the extra trouble and take theme apart and clean theme. Will work like new for years !! I promise.
Yes. First tool is a magnet or crawl all over the floor. I hate when my balls get dirty:)
@@calvinmientke3539 lol!!!
I'm sensing a theme here.
I just love these antique stuff and those old Briggs engines. Cheers from Sweden!
Good to see old equipment brought back to life thanks for the video
Great job on that tiller. Another one saved from the scrap. That governor was pretty tricky, but I had all faith you would have that motor singing properly. Thanks for the upload 🤘🇺🇸
Man ! Looks like you guys have so much fun ! Living da dream !
Try using Dirt Bike foam oil...the Tacky stuff...it goes on real oily and sticky..then tacks up But stays on better than motor oil ...it won't drip down to bottom or run off when it's hotter outside ....👍 stays oiled longer
Hey if thay tank is a dual pick up 1 quart can I buy it from you? I am in need of one or many. Ghanks.
Love the skits and bloopers 😂
LOVE THE OUTAKES GUYS!!
HA!! The multi talented Dactyl clan is at it again!!! What a great Sunday morning treat! Another superb production fellas - thank you. Your biggest fan
I love the sketches you guys do! Hope you don't stop doing them. Oh, and I learned a bit about governors, too!
You guys make my day out laughing. You are also a great mechanic.
Once again, learned a lot and entertained at the same time.
Thanks!
This crew works hard and plays hard. Well done!!!
"Slippers, You KnuckleHead!" Classic!!! Gotta Love LMD's!
Great video guys, tiller sounds and looks good now
Oh man, great video... Was watching this at 3 in morning when you lit yourself up! Woke my wife up lmao and caught a ear full, thanks Taryl.
No, you cant polish a Turd. But you can sprinkle glitter on it!
awesome taryl good job
Don't Let that Thing get away from you Taryl! She's a Beaut for 16 bux. SCORE! 👍🇱🇷
The starter clutch is eminently serviceable and easy to clean. The square starter 'boss' is made of sintered metal so it is designed to retain oil and be naturally friction-free. Just clean the inside with a .45-.50 cal gun barrel cleaning brush, clean the inner star chamber and clean the steel balls with solvent. Reassemble, add a few drops of motor oil to the hole in the end of the square piece and voila, it's functional again.
never saw a video with more adds!
you make learning fun, when I was a kid I wanted to help my brothers work my dad would help them too sometimes on the cars becaue I wanted to learn but they did not have the time or patience to teach me, after all I am a girl and I am not supposed to stuff like this, never could understand why not? but I am enjoying your videos believe it or not. I am learning so much about motors and since I have several mowers in the garage and I am primary user it is nice to understand how it works. what is on it and how the parts work etc. thank you for taking the time and energy to show us all thes neat stuff.
Brilliant video thank you 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😄
I have never seen somebody use a
Rototiller on snow😀.
Great work
Looks like that 💩 has been polished into a diamond 💎
Man, great video, lots of helpful tips and funny too
Nice video and soundeffect
Good show old chap. Nice restoration. 👍🏼
Great rescue! When you remarked that the air filter may have caught fire, notice it's right above the muffkin, which is possibly what melted it.
Marc Bolan/T-Rex also did "Jeepster," something else that needs polishing.
Great job on the garden scratcher.
Good job!
No one can love a turd as much as you can, Taryl.
grouse work Taryl Dactal mate cheers from Australia and i stil have a feeling the parts might be very similar to the 1960s Lawn Boys etc and stay safe too.
Not too long ago, I saw a guy scrap a nice Troy Bilt Pony tiller in very good condition.
I bought a JD commercial mower with swivel casters for $20 at that same scrap yard. All that was wrong was a dirty carb.
i like snow peas-wondered why i couldnt grow them -we dont have any snow
If you hadn't dulled those blades on the concrete floor, they would have cut through that snow a lot better.
Do you wanna go on a John Deere mower?
@@joycebarros3376 It depends on where you are going.
Great job
Nice shine you put on that nice old tuff turd buster and Ya can feel proud to drop er in the dirt, theres growing your dinner
😂 haha! Great sketch!
Hey Taryl..it wasn't a waste of time...seeing you getting lit up by the spark plug was worth...lol...
I've a brand new never started 1972 techumseh h30 I'd ship to your shop as a thank you for all the great content you put out. Me and my kid love watching. We watch your channel for laughs. And we watch donyboy73 for sleep.
...lol..yes he can put you to sleep...ZZZZZZZZZZ
Maybe the guy who had that was like my grandfather. He would make me tip his tiller over on its side while he filled the crankcase with oil right to the top. No matter how much I told him it wasn't good for it, he wouldn't listen to me. I guess the only advantage was, with all that oil all over it, it didn't rust.
Guess he didn’t understand that there needs to be space for the piston to move.
@@FishFind3000 Yeah.
I hate getting shocked. Had a Honda 70 motorcycle 50 years ago. the shock set me on my ass. Good times.
I really liked that cell phone you checked the RPM with. Mine won't do it, but it ain't got them alphabets on it. I want one like yourn.
I love the detectives!
Probably was running hot cause of the mouse nest clogging cooling fins plus over revving from the governor spring was making it blow excess oil out the crankcase vent tube
Lots of funny lines in this episode ! Nice fix on that old machine, Taryl. The only thing I don't care for about it is how the exhaust blows straight back at the operator. Must be nasty if the machine is burning a bit of oil.
A crime has been committed "smells like somebody died in there" lol omg that's funny
Y'all funny as shit, Taryl.
Use "Red Lion" molybdenum dry lube on linkages, and cables. It puts on a graphite-liike coating, which is slippery, but does not attract dirt, dust, etc. Great stuff Taryl, give it a "shot" .......LOL
Great job as usual.I did think this one might be a job for "Faryl",thank God it didn"t come to that!
Good job
As always, great vidio, haven't seen the LMD's for a while now...
Nice simple fun project, and now fixed right. Cute little basic tiller. I like those older smooth running little B&S flatheads. Unfortunately the last generation Briggs flatheads suck, they frequently vibrate and rattle and never really run good with the non-adjustable EPA carbs. Junk!
You really clean that chair up
The L heads were the best engine, now the over head valves are the turds in my opinion now.
Half the effort and twice as quick!
One of my favorite parts is when he goes and finds some scrap piece or part that'll work on whatever he's doing at the time.
Grass rats, pack rats, it's all the same thing.
Nice job , Taryl......
I have MTD products. I find if I don't try to start it...it gives me no trouble at all. LOL
Taryl, when you polish a turd your supposeda make it purdy... get one of them shop rats to make it purdy!
I had one of those engines i was working on for a customer and they had lost all the components for the governor so i had to make a linkage up for it from one from a Chinese honda and find a spring that would fit, still can’t believe how good i got it without having a reference to make it off
I finally seen snow being tilled something I always heard about but never seen 🤣 great job and I think I'll rebuild mine I have a 5hp Briggs it's a state man tiller from 1989
The old tiller jig was most amusing.
"Carbetrator" .... I laugh every time you say that.
That turned out really nice. The throttle and governor setup was a real mess. The people who had this tiller must have been really revving the crap out of it!
I had that same engine on a go kart as a kid. Ran it until the crank wore so bad it couldn't get spark.
For the age that’s actually a great little piece of equipment
Wow! You make a great cop.
I bought a similar mtd tiller brand new. it was 84 and 4 hp 11 series. it has different choke which I did burn off when i failed to reply gas cap. handle a bit different. it had an engagement lever similar to snow augers. eventually had some running issues and sat in storage until I gave it to a young lady interested in smallengine stuff. I never followed up with him.
Was she a he?
I had a rotortiller with a lawn mower engine on it, had to replace the bad engine. No one would buy it because it looked old( the frame was dating the machine) As soon as I painted the thing all black, It sold right away. It was an old MTD as well. Same exact color but used a belt drive . I have had other equipment that people shied away from because they saw the color and wouldn't buy it. Had a gold craftsman tiller as well, painted that black as well, same effect.
51:19 Nice Clarence J. Boddicker reference.
"... He was takin' a nap... In a pile of scrap.... 'cause that's what he likes to do...."
Heh heh heh!!! Why am I not surprised.....
Well done carp boy!! Now all you have to do is plant your tulip bulbs!!
Mythbusters has proven that you can indeed polish a turd! It's an Ancient Chinese Secret.
