Would be awesome if you make more videos using Temu's fishing lures. Especially the imitation hairy dice lure. There's a hairy dice lure that's 12mm, that should be great size for sheepheads. As a kid I caught 2 small speckled trouts with bread and 3 bass with a line of about 15 yellow corn with a hook at the end. I fished it as a swimming worm.
Awesome content! Please do a experiment with using shrimp heads or just blue crab legs for bait. Many seafood places will give those things away for free.
Great video making me miss saltwater (we live in Utah and I used to drive OTR travel trailer delivery). I'd always hit Alabama, Florida, N and S Carolina. Unfortunately gas prices are bad and can't make money so been 8 months since I've been on saltwater. Craziest thing I used is bacon for flounder. Love the channel!
Another great video. Craziest thing is my own lunch. lol I used the bread, the cheese, the meats and even some cheese puffs...caught blue gill and catfish.
I used the spinal sinue from hogs to catch trout. I worked for a butcher shop and the owner told me that brown trout would go nuts for it in Germany. So i tried it. It worked well
Seen Red Holland pick wild grapes off vine over river and catch channel cat using them...miss his videos. Thanks for Sheep head videos. Brings back memories of my mother loving to catch them from bridges in Eastern Florida as a kid...considered them the saltwater crappies...:-)
DANG Nate when you pulled out that Temu Crab and told us the price I got excited ,I,ve got a few Cranka Crabs ,but the price point isn't worth losing to break offs etc.. Yes I tried larger crab versions and the sheeps won't touch them... I wish Temu made a smaller version... Great content as always ...Thanks For Sharing.. Oh and the two weirdest lures I've ever used were 1) a bottle cap bent around a hook and caught several Bass and a catfish on it. 2) I lost all the lures I had with me only a few and took apart the cheap watch band I had on tied a split ring to it and a treble hook and caught Bass and a big slab Crappie in it ...Tight Lines Brother
The cranka crab is expensive but at the end of the day as I always see if you use what works and gets you fish it will be a better day and worth any price you have to pay than losing out a whole day because you tried to be cheap
Love the content! Once caught a smallmouth bass on a metal soup spoon up in Canada (Lake of the Woods). Attached a swivel on spoon handle and treble hook on other end! Buddies fishing with me bet me it wouldn’t catch. Won a few beers after the first smallie was landed .
this is MrBear from florida to answer your ? i used to role screen in pools porches extra, i was working on a job with a pond behind it so i tride a top water no good so i got rid of that and put on a six inch or so of black 220 round spline to hold screen in and used it like a worm and got a 4 1/2 pound larg mouth . so a peace of spline will get fish.
Temu has a squid imitation you should try. White diving lipped crank bait with a big eye on the back end of it. White soft plastic skirt tentacles on the back end. Amazing how much a bass lure looks like a squid. Lipped diver means you can fish the entire water column with it.
I've fished a couple of those crabs up in the northeast they look really promising but i had 1 chance when striped bass were busy eating calico crabs. I can bet they would be killer for permit and bonefish in florida
Awesome videos, im so glad I found this channel! Hey question im thinking about getting into kayak fishing. Im looking for one that I can put into the back of my Pick up, is good in ruff salt water/ strong current to fish around bridges. What would be the best bang for the buck? You seem to have a ton of experience! Thanks
Thanks for the video I’ve not had much luck at all with artificial crabs for sheepshead. I checked out the crankacrab webpage. Lots of choices for ordering. What’s were you using in the video and what’s your fav. Thanks in advance. Keep the videos coming.
I used to catch Red fish like that all day long down in New Orleans. Also, we used to catch Sheep Head also some of the best fishing I have ever done was down there in New Orleans.
I may have already made this comment so I apologize if this is a duplicate. Maybe you could try the Almost Alive fiddler crab lures. It's the plastic only that you can rig with a split shot and hook rig or a bottom sweeper type jig, so they are less expensive. Plus they're made in USA in N. Carolina.
Ivory soap at certain times of the year is a good catfish bait too. We caught sheepshead on crickets in February one year 15+ years ago. We was down there to deer hunt and when season ended Jan 31 we stayed a few days to fish. We had been up in freshwater catching shell crackers and for whatever reason wound up back at the salt and the only bait we could find we already had just had to put 2 or 3 on the hook at a time.
I would try cutting the temu lure in half. I cut real crabs in half and quarters. I would put a dab of orange or yellow on the half and use some scent. Bet it helps. Enjoy the videos.
Haven't seen you try hermit crabs inside of a piece of cheese cloth made into a tea bag with magic thread. Works great with oysters too. Sand fleas also make great bait for sheeps too
@@southernsalt Those little tea bag baits are good for 4-5 fish some times. I'll even soak them in Pro Cure to add some extra scent. As long as it smells right, they don't seem to mind the blob of a bait lol
Weirdest thing I ever caught a fish on, I caught a little Chanel catfish out of a farm pond on a peanut. No shell just a bare nut. It was all i had no worms or bugs to be found but I had a Coke and a bag of peanuts for a snack and it took about half them peanuts before I got one to stay on the hook but I did it. Lol
There are smaller version of this crab (4.5 cm / 5.8g). I ordered from Aliexpress. But you will need to change the hook and make a new craw. Good Luck 😁😁😁
But what I am hearing is... There is definitely a market for an affordable crab lure specifically designed for sheepshead here in the states with more accessible availability. 🤔
I agree with you but how much do you pay when you get the same item from sporting goods such as Academy, Basspro…Cabela. The purpose of this clip he just wants to show the good things. I am proud of him.
I caught several white bass from the bank the bait store was closed I figured when I got to the shore I would find a grass hopper or something. It was winter couldn't find anything I was eating cheese puffs I put one on a hook though too myself boy wo would it be funny to catch something the first cast I caught a large white bass I caught 5 bass that day
@southernsalt I really enjoy your videos on Flounder and sheepshead with the artificial baits . I have some of the Temu crabs that haven't been able to try out yet hated, too, see they didn't work .
Weirdest thing I've used for bait is chewing gum. Hey when the bite is on fire and you used up all your live bait. The gum i had in my mouth. 🤷🏼♂️ Works.
I was waiting for my brother to show up with the bait and we were me Meeting for lunch I got tired of waiting so I used my ham sandwich with cheese and caught a 28 inch carp
Man at 20$ a cranker crab and as well as sheepshead see with being very visual eaters and line shy at times in clearer conditions I would be way too scared to scale down on line size and lose a 20$ lure. Think I'll just have to stick to flipping over rocks at low tide or hitting the mangroves and collecting real fiddler crabs or mud crabs for the free! I could care less if I break off 100 times in one day if I'm just losing a hook and a split-shot. 💯😂
you can get away with really, really light line for sheepshead. You gotta finesse them out of the structure but it is doable. I never go heavier than 15lb leader and i pretty regularly catch trophy sized sheeps
I have always felt a cheap product results in cheap catches. The price goes up cause of the testing and materials so personally I'd bite the bullet and get the expensive one if it means more fish on the deck.
I watched a guy catch several trout with a jig and a cigarette butt. Zman trout eye jig head and a marlboro cigarette butt. Craziest crap ever. It was just cause they they were eating anything he thought it would be funny. They actually ate it.
OHHHHH I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!!!! Cant seem to find sheepshead anywhere. Lots of reds and Bobo's and even some tune but no sheeps. Folks are still catching mangroves off the bridges. The best part about these artificials is you avoid the inevitable bycatch(catfish, stingray, etc) you see with live shrimp. Awesome video once again.

🤠 I have never had luck with live or fake crabs. Maybe I can learn what I am doing wrong?
Find a saltwater bridge with barnacles and you’ll get them.
Do you use your depth finder to locate the fish before you start fishing. If so can you show us what the fish look like on the graph?
I don’t when looking for sheepshead I just bounce around until I find them.
