  • The successor to the Behringer X32 console is upon us, but will it take the place of the most common mixer in church audio history?

      It’s gotta be how sources vs channels are handled, as well as the shear amount of processing you have at your fingertips (16 fx slots vs the SQs 8).
      Also being able to handle all the inputs is way undervalued, especially when you have a ton of stereo channels (on the Avantis if you have 20 stereo channels you are down to only 24 more channels, whereas on the Wing you’d have 28 left over).

    3:00 - you don't actually need to know how to add numbers ;) On the screen you see stagebox images, and you can tap them, and it'll highlight part of channels that are actually used by specific stagebox. Very simple and useful.

    Does this have an app like MX-Q for band members to log into a bus that controls their in ear mix in a wireless pack? Or only the app for whole board control?

    Scribble strips on the stage box would be a nice feature, that could make things easier e.g. for stage hands

      @dano.819 2 роки тому

      It's been my experience that if a show is large enough to have stage hands, we also have a split snake (2 consoles) and sub snakes that multi-pin into it. We do use tape on the sub snakes so we can mark up the sub-snake stage box for the stage hands, but generally keep them out of our racks and we would patch the sub snakes into the appropriate main snake channels.

    I just saw the title... for me, the SQ is better in terme of workloaw, SAV, forum, foot print,etc.
    Of course, one of the big advantage of the wing is the compatibility with berignher/ midas stuff + the add on.
    But if a benevole could use deep eq and comp, that mean he could use plug-ins as well. In the case, maybe wave multirack could be a better option or simply a more advance console.
    At max, I could say that the wing is also cool as the SQ. Not better.
    It's olso an european point of vue. I think most of the church in Belgian / France are moving into digital desk only since a few years. So, we don't have yet another digital boxe and the wing might be difficult to understand.
    Despite all this, it is certain that it is a superb console and that I would have liked to have a smaller version :-)
    Thanks for sharing this content with us.

    Great video! Our church has ordered a Wing and looking forward to implementing it. I'm curious about tap points on channels. Ideally, I would like to use pitch correction on vocals, but send the the uncorrected back to each singer, while at the same time sending the other vocals tapped after pitch correction. Is it possible to use different tap points per bus on a channel?

    • @AttawayAudio
      @AttawayAudio  2 роки тому

      Great question! I'm not certain about the console's ability to have two tap points, but I know it could be limited depend on the monitor mixing system you're using. If you have the P16s, then it's likely that wouldn't work. Plus, everyone needs to be checking on everyone else's pitch so things don't get squirrely at the source.

      @@AttawayAudio That makes a lot of sense. I was trying to avoid a BGV being thrown off by a pitch problem on lead. I thought it might help to have them hear a corrected version of everyone but themselves.

    What are your thoughts of this board vs the competing options from Allen & Heath? This board is a pain to set-up, but has tons of features, but not sure how it compares to the SQ series.

      I am working with the Wing for 3 months now als had to set it up for 3 different Brass Bands and a Big Band.
      I came from a Mackie DL32R and have to say that I love the Wing. It gives me a lot of flexibility and a ton of effects and plugins. For sure due to the flexibility it is more complex to setup. But it is not rocket science. So I cannot confirm that it is a pain to setup.
      The only thing I am missing is an offline editor.

    We just picked up a Wing and Midas DL151 pre-amp (their top of the line touring series of pre-amp). It sounds wonderful, hopefully next week we'll be swapping it out with the X-32 currently being used to live stream at the Blues club that I help out. One effect that I really like is the Stereo Imager on the L/R output, just a touch (seriously only like 5-7% more than the default setting) is all you need to really sweeten up the mix. Waves would be nice, but honestly, I haven't found myself wanting for a plug-in yet that is not already on-board.
