Thank you so much for posting this. I have a lot of personal experience with this topic because I have a very close family member who is like a brother to me. In fact we were virtually raised in the same two households as we are first cousins and grew up within a five mile radius of each other. As we got older, he became more and more conservative to the point of supporting any conservative candidate regardless of their individual qualifications. Our discussions are often respectfully heated because he and I still share the same values we were raised with. We are both Christians raised by parents who marched for voting rights and faced segregation first-hand. So, I struggle with how our almost identical experiences produced such different perspectives. All that said, my love for him as my brother in Christ and kin comes first and I will never cancel our relationship based on political differences. To me, who he votes for is a part of a greater whole that also includes a loving husband, father, brother, veteran, business owner, generous spirit and all around good guy. The points you make are great. Elections come and go, but these people are part of our story and they deserve to be heard and at least respected, even if we do not always understand.
Great video! Regardless of one’s political differences, a right and decent and respectful conversation is what is so desperately needed in our day. I consider myself more of a conservative, but I have family and friends who lean to the left, and I do appreciate their opinions and advice just as much as any others. Much love!
To me if i zone out the media and all the nonsense i cant help but to feel like dems are calling me stupid, its been to many times during this election where its some racial or disrespectful comment made towards blacks for wanting or having they’re own views on the candidates but to say im not black if i dont vote for you or a white woman “reminding me that im black” is kinda out of pocket and a bit much and that alone kind of made me stop a think....
A lot of people on the left seem shocked and taken a back by the passion& anger of trump supporters. I, being on the right, am sadden and pissed at the lack of critical judgement on primary issues such as the economy and national defense. When trump took office in Jan. 2017, it was a non-stop b@tch Session about how trump was not a legitimate President. The press, compared to the kid glove Treatment they give Biden, was hostile from day one. Another reason why conservatives are not Taking Biden as legitimate was the 8 years of Obama/Biden. When he was first elected, I tried To give him the benefit of the doubt. With constant demeaning comments to middle America about You didn’t build your own business and all conservatives are bitter bible thumpers that cling to the guns, didn’t build a lot of goodwill and understanding among people on the right. Therefore, when people on the left wonder why There is a lot of bitterness and divide in the country, They need to look at their past and look at themselves in mirror. Now that Biden has been President for 4 months, appreciate the high gas $$, Soon to come inflation, the border in chaos, China Lecturing us? The middle east& Iranian causing chaos again. If you voted for this you have to STFU, I didn’t so it’s my turn to piss on your cornflakes. 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳
Do you have loved ones who have very different political beliefs compared to you? What strategies have been most effective for you during your interactions with them?
