I love that you distinguished what a phone is and what a phone isn’t. Of course it will be different for each person. For you, it’s a tool to communicate and to do you work. It’s not entertainment or motivation/inspiration. A video on what you do for entertainment or inspiration would be cool! Thanks for the great content

🤯 “unreading” text messages. Sometimes I read text messages and plan to respond later but then totally forget until days. This tip is brilliant!!
I had already turned off all notifications on my phone and have a simplified app list, but changed my ring tone and moved my apps to the second page instead of the first. I am known to leave my phone in DND too! Less is more, thank you MM!
I relate so much. I’m easily overstimulated especially as a mama of 3. I muted all my notifications bc they were stressing me out. I do what you do too with the respond when you are ready and it’s a game changer!
Another thing that really helped me was color filters turn it to black and white.

Found you when you did the podcast with Madisun. Nice video. It’s like trying to make a dumb phone, but with a smart phone. I’d like to have a dumb phone, but there are a few things I need if I’m out. I say need knowing need isn’t actually true, but you know. I’m not on any social media, just visit UA-cam with a few (10 or less) people I subscribe to, so it’s a bit easier for me to be untethered. One thing I want to work on is to not always respond immediately, when 90% of texts don’t need an immediate response. The phone case to put down your phone is interesting. Not knocking it because I do know it’s a serioussss problem in today’s world, but when you actually think about it, we’re wild. Paying someone to basically make/encourage me to put my phone down and exist.
My favorite thing I do with my own phone that is absolutely fantastic as I put it on red light mode. I even programmed a shortcut on my phone so I click the home button three times and the whole screen turns red. You can program your iPhone to do that if you Google it. I use red light mode all the time! ❤❤❤

i love the idea of moving around certain apps that you gravitate towards without even thinking (i’m sadly guilty of this as well, but it’s okay, i’m only human). i’m going to try this & see if it aids in having less screentime & more intentional moments in real life💓
I know some do this (moving around apps) but with my phone, I swipe up and can just type in as a search for the app I'm looking for. So this would be pointless for me. 😏

I had mine on dark mode and then I learned that the light text against the black can actually be more straining on the eyes because it isn’t as crisp 🤷🏼♀️ but I also liked the dark mode more!

This video was so usefull, I love it! But how did you hänet the first pahe blank? I didn’t Manager to do that when I loved all the apps to next page, that came the first page😂
To take this up a notch I've also seen people turn on "color filter" to black and white to decrease the stimulation we get from the colorfulness of apps. I find this most helpful in social media apps.

This is such a helpful video. I definitely feel the pressure to respond to the constant trickle of WhatsApp messages immediately. It’s exhausting but it doesn’t have to be
I think this is great! One question: what if one of your family members tries to call you for an emergency when your phone is on airplane mode?
I paused the video to change my ringtone and notification sound to something more calming.
I have a background of a photo of me with my favorite seminary pastors wife (she inspires me to do better).
I have all my apps (except the weather) starting on page 2.
I also have minimal apps but could try and remove more.
I also have removed all notifications from sounding except for texts and calls.
My only problem with the resoonding when im ready is I will either totally forget or its something that does need my attention now. I have sometimes utilized the mark as unread. But if it is something I need to do right now then I have to tell my children that I'm talking to someone and they need to wait a moment.

I can’t find the ringtone setting “piano music” 😩
I get you with the notifications and ringtones! I'm very sensitive to noises (probably misophonia). Constant dings and unexpected calls disrupt me. I turned those notifications off too. My ringtone recommendation: River Flows in You ua-cam.com/video/TZjqhIAgkwM/v-deo.html.
Same goes for alarms. Loud alarms stress me out. So I choose a calm tone with gradually increasing volume. I got a very old Samsung Android phone (2014) as gift which I use exclusively as alarm. I do have a louder alarm in case I really need to wake up and missed the first one 😅.
I saw your other video about minimalism (50 Things I No Longer Buy). I'm on your side about being intentional. 17:43 What I think of you? You are spot on 🙌.

No Amazon purchases
Walk on the treadmill 2-3 times of 7 days
No eating out unless Sat/Sun
No takeout coffees unless Saturday or birthday
2 new recipes every week
Leave phone downstairs @ night
Save $20-$40 in savings every week
These are my goals for March (and hopefully months to come) I really sleep much better when I leave my phone downstairs!! Also, can we talk about how most people have such an Amazon addiction?! Let’s start a new trend of no Amazon!! It’s so wasteful most times!
An iPhone isn't minimalist period.
Well, there is nothing minimalist about having another device, with a subscription, with a sole purpose is to stop you using your mobile phone. Just stop using it.
Not me watching this while scrolling fb and instagram 🫠😅 definitely need to take some of your advice.
