You are the first, and will probably be the only, blogger that I have subscribed to. I am in awe of your spirit. God bless and thank you for your inspiring presence.
What a sweet young woman! I am a 71-year-old grandma who just broke her wrist on a backpacking trip and I’m trying to get along in my kitchen with only one usable hand. Thank you for being such an inspiration!
wow Bandit.. You're a great teacher, we are all impressed with how you take care of yourself. When I was your age we learned about self-reliance from Thoreau and Emerson...what you could have taught them! :)
Really cool how you opened the ziploc bag! I just use my teeth. One thing that helps me with twisting tops off of really tough air tight jars is (when no one's looking!) to wrap it in a rough cloth for friction, push the jar up against a wall with my chest while twisting the top off with my left hand.
And I also have use of only one hand, but I also use a wheelchair. When it comes to opening tough jars, I put the jar between my legs and twist the lid as hard as I can. I also have an OXO lid opener that I love for opening tough lids.
You are very innovative and independent, FeFe. I can’t even open the safeties with TWO hands, and I’m a 6’6” guy. You’re most interesting and pleasant to listen to. I’m so glad I subscribed. I feel fortunate to have bumbled onto your initial video. I’m proud to know you through your videos. You teach a very important lesson in character.
Ok so I just broke my right arm and found you video super helpful. Loose jar yup on the chest, but a few stubborn jars between my thighs and twist open
Man and i think im badly done by with a missing big left toenail. Its truly inspirational to see you showing us how you get on in life with your disability. Happy weekend
UA-cam is all about sharing new stuff and learning new ways to do things. I’d be sticking cans and bottles between my knees and spilling stuff all over myself and the floor. You are very coordinated!
As I have mentioned before, you take potential issues and overcome them. Additionally you look like an ange. You are beautifu. Your hair is really great and you touch my heart in every way.
Faith, your hand must be almost freakishly strong! Just to see how easy or difficult opening bottles is with my left hand, I tried it and could barely open anything! I'd really hate to find my throat in that grip! I remember my grandmother had a device that fit under the cabinets in her kitchen, a plastic plate that had a 'V' shaped area, open to the kitchen, in which the tops of jars were placed until they were snug against the rubber inside the 'V'. Then she would twist on the jar to loosen the lid and then unscrew the now-loosened lid. I can see how this might work for you as it could be easily operated with one arm, then remove the lid with your fingers, just without the strain. I started getting arthritis in my fingers in my late 20's, and at 45 jars and bottles are my ever-present adversaries. That device is sitting in my attic, stored away in a box, because I know that someday soon I'll have use of it myself. 1:30 "I have no idea what this is..." Yeah, I hear you. I find weird crap in my house and I have no idea what it is or how it got there. The worst part is that I probably bought it, but I have no recollection of ever doing so. Try not to get older, Faith. It's often not very much fun...
haha yes i have had people tell me my hand strength is above average. that sounds like a nifty gadget your gma had! very cool. I will try my best to stay young lol
I'm left handed and growing in a right handed world often things were difficult for me. You obviously have no choice in the matter but your vivacious attitude is amazing. I'm guessing that your grip in your left hand must be stronger than most men's. Actually your entire arm/shoulder also has to be strong and flexible due to your situation.
Hahah yes the right hand dominates and does throw many curve balls. I will make a video about that! I will also be making a video about how my body has adapted and compensated. Stay tuned :)
I use a cheese knife shaped like a small cleaver to open cans. (I sharpened it up using a standard sharpening steel) I hold it between my feet and with 4 well placed cuts my can is opened.. Fast and easy if you have good hand strength. (Which you obviously do)
Great video :) I have a question. Do you tie shoe laces or do you stay away from footwear with laces? If you do, it would be cool to see a video of that. Maybe on how you put on different articles of clothing. How do you put on belts? How do you zip up your coat?....stuff like that.
Impressive and interesting, your really good with your arm and I was wondering if you have ever tried a single arm push up in the past? How many can you do
Your videos are so wonderful and they create a question that I will dare to ask. If you were with a friend, roommate or significant other, would you endeavor to always do these things alone, just, say, out of a desire to stay always self sufficient? Or if the person was standing right there, would you just ask "hey, can you open this jar for me?" I know it's kind of nosy, sorry, just wondering. Thank you.
I would still do things on my own. However, if I was very tired or my hand/shoulder was bothering me as it sometimes does, I would ask for help. Also, if I needed a task done that I know could be completed faster if I had two hands, I would request help. But I always try to do it myself first.
Back again. Why can I see stuff literally flying everywhere should I ever decide to have a crack at any of those techniques? I reckon you'd have fairly impressive finger strength though. Always a joy to watch you getting on with the business of living.
all of this assumes your working hand is strong enough to do this stuff. i have to use other parts of my body or stationary objects that wont move etc.... to get purchase
thank you! I had my fingers and partial palm amputated recently and am trying to figure out how to navigate my word 1 handed. I know I will eventually have partial use of my nub, but it will be awhile before it's healed and repaired :/
I've had a stroke,my left arm is present but doesn't work(also a lefty)you have to get creative on how to do things.I was watching this to get new ideas on how to open things.Good job and thanks.
It’s a pleasure to meet a fellow lefty! It brightens my day to know that this was helpful to you. If you need any help with learning how to do a certain task, please let me know!
@@OneArmWonderrr Thanks for replying, surprised me.Hope you're doing okay.I have a daughter your age who feeds me etc. Most people take for granted what they have(with being able to do things,I guess I did too.)Anyway,...
There is another type of can opener that you might try. In the Army we called it a P-38. They are usually in stores with camping equipment and it is small. www.walmart.com/ip/Coghlan-s-G-I-Can-Opener/22672681 Are you on a Gluten Free diet? My wife had our son on a Gluten Free/Casein Free diet for 13 years. We bought a lot of Bob's Red Mill products. It helped him a lot and by the time he turned 18, he had out grown the allergies. Good Luck, Rick
What i want to know is plz ,, if you dont mind , what type of school did you go to ?. Did you go to a mainstream school or a school for people with special needs.
Modern packaging can be a real pain in the arse sometimes Faith! Tell me, how do you deal with blister packs? You know the type that tablets come in? Be well.
Alright, I have a question.... Most people are right handed.... do you think you were a Leftie, or a Rightie? Or didn't it ever come into play? I'm just curious. I enjoy your videos, my older brother is physically challenged.... you're doing a great job.
I'm the jerk that doesn't care about opening things with one arm. I just came for the hot chick.😍 okay I take back my first statement. a pill bottle thing was kind of neat. I can't do that half the time with both hands.
Should be called one arm beauty
