      Thank you sir. It sure is a lot of work but I love it! Even this season I am already feeling better and feeling like I have more energy since I’ve started hand splitting again. Thanks for watching and God bless!

      Good to hear from you woody! I’ll be glad when it gets cold and stays cold too for the firewood season. It’s been getting below freezing here lately. Keep up the good work with your channel and thanks for watching woody!

    I like that saw !! You keep that chain sharp too…..most important! I, like you, used to hand split….well till I hit 55 then I went to a splitter too. Still like to swing the axe, but at almost 70, I depend on a splitter. As you say…..at your age….a little hard work never hurt anyone. Hang in there 🪵🪓🔥👍👏 Yep, really like that ⛓🪚👍👋🇺🇸 Rick

      Thank you so much Rick! I really appreciate that! I try to keep them sharp. It takes so much longer if they are dull and is harder on the saws, as I’m sure you know. I may very well get a splitter later on as well! I’m not entirely opposed to it, just intend to hand split as long as I can as well. I understand completely why you would go to a splitter my friend! Years of hard work take a toll on the body. I haven’t hit that point yet but have a lot of uncles that have and my dad as well. And many of them tell me how important it is to take care of your back and not hurt it. They said it’s never the same once you hurt it bad. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment. I appreciate it greatly! God bless my friend!

    I’m sure you’re watching for copperheads, cottonmouths, scorpions, ticks, chiggers, and the occasional bee/wasp. Welcome to the great outdoors!

    Sure ain't nothing wrong with some honest hard work! I bet you slept like a Baby that night! Personally...I would try using a rope/chain and pull some of the logs up on flat ground before processing. Be safe and thanks for sharing!

      Thank you for watching my friend! Hard work does the mind, body and would good in my opinion. I was thinking the same thing the other day with a chain. I have enough wood at this location for the rest of this winter at least but if I hooked a chain to some of it and drug it out it would be much easier. Some is buried somewhat as well so a chain would really help with exposing it and giving me access to it. That’s great advice!

      @@bluegrassoutdoors If using a chain to jerk them out. Please keep your son way back incase a chain breaks. Also if you tie like a sweat shirt in the middle of chain it will help chain from flying if it would break or come loose. Definitely alot of wood left yet over the hill. Have a good day!

    Look like old 630 jonsered. Frost in the wood split easy .

      It’s a jonsered 625 ii. I love it! I agree, the frost helps the wood split much easier. Feels a lot better splitting in the frost too. Thanks for watching friend!

    wood laying on the ground is damp rotting and growing mushrooms, Many of the Jonserede and Husky parts are interchangeable they were both made by Electrolux out of Sweden.

    • @bluegrassoutdoors
      @bluegrassoutdoors  2 роки тому

      This oak is very solid, heavy wood. Most of it is piled upon other trees that are buried. If I see that it’s rotten I toss it to the side. Thanks for watching!
