    Nice seeing kids getting out and getting their hands dirty rather than playing video games, A year or so of drying this should make some good firewood.

      I agree completely! When I was a little kid I cried if I had to go inside. We would play til dark and those are some of the best memories I have. Working with my papaw as well. The oak does take awhile to season for sure. Especially if it isn’t split. It’s been down for around three years but holds the moisture for awhile if it’s not split. Thanks for watching my friend!

    You and your Son have a gold mine there ! That is a lot of logs/tree tops there. Be careful though, easy to twist an ankle or a knee when they cross cross like that. Keep cranking it out 🪵🪵🪵⛓🪚🪓🔥👍👏 Rick

      We have taken it down a lot in the last couple years! I am very thankful for it. You’re absolutely right though. It’s very easy to twist an ankle or fall here. I have had some close calls here but nothing serious yet, thank goodness. Thank you for watching my friend!

      I was happily with it. Especially for what time we were there. You are able to do 3 of those loads a day if you push and that’s $600 a day. Not a bad payday.

    I don’t cut my firewood too small because it burns up too fast. Especially night wood.

    • @bluegrassoutdoors

      I have different size requests depending on the customer. I think I have had anywhere from 14” to 24” inches in firewood lengths requested.

    so are you selling the wood green?

    • @bluegrassoutdoors
      @bluegrassoutdoors  2 роки тому

      No sir. This has been down for around 3 years now. I realize it dries much faster when split but this has been separated from the roots for nearly three years. It does take longer to season uncut but it dries out over time, just more time than usual. I have sold a lot like that and continue to do so to the same customers.

    • @dk9628
      @dk9628 2 роки тому +1

      @@bluegrassoutdoors ok. It makes sense. I usually can find standing dead trees but the are not fully dry.If i find something on the ground that long we get rot issues. That might be a location thing with the snow we get in Ontario.

    • @bluegrassoutdoors
      @bluegrassoutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      @@dk9628 it’s the same way here with rot, depending on the wood. Though maybe not as intense as there because of the snow, as you mentioned. The oak takes a long time to season and a long time to rot so the process with it around the 3 year mark where I am now seems to work great. It may even go another year or so before rotting. It’s some tough, dense stuff! I do stack the wood as well ahead of times when I can so it can season faster. I sold a lot of dead standing locust last year and people seemed to love it. It’s not as quite as dense and heavy as oak though. It’s definitely a longer process when it’s not split but it does season over time, and with enough time, rots. I will plan to do a video with a moisture meter to show where the moisture content is. That was a great question and I can see why you would ask for sure!

      I love the jonsared! When it’s sharp it cuts great. Mine is just a 4.7, 3rd gen 4x4. It’s a standard 6 speed. I had looked at maybe buying one from an uncle who had the 5.9 and it was a 2nd gen too. Those are supposed to be great engines!
