    If you use a Sony A7r V, you can get 900 mm in APS-C crop mode without having to make any significant compromises. It is worth considering for these users to only buy a telephoto lens with a range of up to 400 mm but with an aperture of f/2.8 in order to then have 600 mm with f/2.8 in APS-C crop mode. 🙄 Thanks for showing. 👍😃

    It should be pointed out that while this is the first 60-600 developed for mirrorless, it's not the first 60-600. Sigma made one for DSLRs. I have it adapted on my Canon R5 and it works well. This one has a different optical design, maybe a faster AF motor, and sheds half a pound, but the tripod foot is substantially shorter.

I hate being "that person" but the purple fringing around the text was really noticeable. I'm looking to get a macro lens, but it seems like there aren't any good gen 2's out. It's weird to see that in europe the price difference is substantially wider with the Sony 200-600 at 1900€ and Sigma 60-600 at 2350€ 🤔
    Having a 70-200 my heart would obviously go to the 200-600 but although I'm absolutely sure it will produce stunnig images I haven't bought it yet because I think it would spend too much time sitting on the shelf 😢

      Good question. I was wondering how it would pair with that camera. I want to buy one long telephoto. But nothing beats a good 70 200 f2.8. this lens could complement or would you say the 70 200 would be redundant. I don't think so.

  • @edc641
    @edc641 Рік тому +1

    For wildlife the 200-600 is a no-brainer. Internal zoom, cheaper, native, TC support. For landscape the Tamron 50-400 is my pick. A lot cheaper, very sharp, less than half the weight, a lot smaller.

  • @CC-gt3ro
    @CC-gt3ro Рік тому +2

    Personally i like my tamron 70-300 fullframe as it is only 545g and works well with a7c and Ibis in photo and video. But i use a Smallrig 3212 cage which helps for more stability and better grip for longer lens. And the price is very affordable. The sigma is impressive but it is too heavy and big for me. I prefer the compact size of the tamron 70-300 (450 in video). For hiking and wildlife it works great.

    $2000 plus the cost of a decent monopod. I just don't see using that without one. Even the 70-350mm Sony lens is a little unbalanced on the A6x00, and this seems like it would dwarf even the full frame bodies.

  • @T-Slider
    @T-Slider Рік тому

    Arthur, as an alternative to the Sony a7c $1800, Sony 200-600 $2000, 2 Sony teleconverters, $1100, you could get the Lumix S5II $2000, 60-600 $2000, teleconverters $700, Sony $4,900 vs Sigma $4,700. Also the S5II has mind blowing stabilization in the body, in addition to the 7 stops in the lens. And the Sigma ver of the lens has more features than the Sony version of the Sigma lens. BTW, your foto models can’t be improved!

    Very cool lens. If anyone is looking for a great all in one package with a Zeiss 24-600 mm lens with 24 fps check out the 1 inch sensor Sony RX10 mark IV. A little tougher to use in low light than a full frame, but still great for almost everything. But 900 mm on an APSC or APSC mode would definitely be fun.

      I have to agree. Arthur left out one important feature of the Sony lens. It has internal zooming. I really don't like long zooms that grow in length. Short zooms is OK, but then Sony released two short zooms with internal zooming, the PZ 16-35 full frame and PZ 10-20 for crop sensor. Wish the long Sony zooms have PZ function.

    Doesn't really cover the 50-100-ish range in a practical way. Yes, the focal ranges are covered technically speaking, but there's so many scenarios where you'd like to walk around with a 75, or 85, or 100, maybe even a 135, but you wouldn't want to carry this bazooka with you. I do street photos sometimes with an 105 for example, I would never do that with this monster.

    Sorry to mention this but crop and zoom are two different things. 600mm on an APS-C aren‘t the same as 900mm on a full frame. The physical properties of the lens like the angle of view stay the same the whole time and the result on an APS-C sensor is nothing but a cropped version of a full frame picture. You simply cut off the information around the edges instead of magnifying the subject. In other words, you won‘t „get closer“ to the subject by using an APS-C camera.
    As far as the f-stop is concerned, the amount of light that hits the sensor is actually identical (1.4 on an APS-C are the same as on a FF) but you have to multiply the f-stop with the crop factor in order to obtain a similar depth of field compared to a full frame image.
    Otherwise, it would make teleconverters obsolete. Instead of using a 1.4x TC (with real magnification capabilities), which also makes your lens „slower“, you could simply use an APS-C camera but that‘s not how it works.
    It‘s not a question of faith but physics.
    I wanted to add this comment because the topic repeatedly leads to confusion, especially for newbies.
