    One of my favs of Paul’s post Beatle music. Great jive to it and the vocals are just so cool. Don’t forget that cool bass popping at each start of verse!!! Great music!!!!

    Next to BAND ON THE RUN this is my second favorite on this album. Wings was big time in the late 1970s. Their WINGS OVER AMERICA live album is a must have.
    Poor Linda (Paul's wife). She left us far too soon. RIP.

    1985 ... reference to Orwell's 1984 --- His book about a distopian future was symbolic of The End of Free Society , Predicting 1984 would signal the END if Freedom. Hence ... "No One Every Left Alive , in Nineteen Hundred & Eighty Five" 👀😗

    The photos near the end showing Paul wearing a cowboy hat, riding horses and sitting on a front porch were taken at "Juniors Farm" just down the road from where I live here in Lebanon Tennessee (right outside of Nashville)when he stayed there in the summer of 1974

    The Band on the Run album was such a massive hit at the time, we all couldn't wait for the tour to come; it came. The closest venue for me at the time was Seattle, but I couldn't get a ride. It wasn't until 2012 that I saw Paul in Vancouver; 3 1/2 hours of solid music. But I still wish I could've saw him during his heyday.

    Jarvis, I think you're absolutely right-that was a clarinette solo. . .that's so Paul, just like on the Beatles song "Penny Lane" when he brought the classically trained Dave Mason to play a piccolo trumpet solo. Brilliant stuff! This guy's one of the greatest of all of the songwriters, still a force at 81 years old!

    Every solo song by a former Beatles member is still a Beatles song to me --- when I listen to them, as far as I'm concerned, they never broke up. If a song like *_Yesterday_* where only Paul participated can be called a Beatle song then why can't this one. Same thing applies to John Lennon's song *_Imagine_* which is every bit a Beatle's song as *_Julia_* from the White album on which only John participated. All for one and one for all. Beatle's Forever!

    Clever how they cut to him at Live Aid, 1985. A sobering thought is that 1985 seems such a long time ago, but I remember playing this record to death when it came out in '73. Btw always loved the album cover,great assortment of people.

    The ENTIRE "BAND ON THE RUN" album is JUST Paul and Linda McCartney and Denny Laine. Their drummer and other guitarist at the time, refused to go to Lagos, Nigeria they day before they were to leave, to record the album. TOO late to find replacements, so Paul, Linda and Denny went any way and did it themselves. That is PAUL doing ALL the drumming on the album and this song. Plus he did most of the bass lines, unless he was playing something else. Denny could also play bass, besides lead guitar, and could also play piano. Paul has FINALLY performed this at his more recent concert tours, which ALWAYS gets a HUGE reaction out of the crowd....LOVE the WINGS' songs he will do in concert.

    Band On The Run was Wings 3rd album. After the Beatles split up Paul McCartney did two solo albums and then formed Wings. He didn't really have much success in terms of top hits for those 4 albums. He planned an exotic place to record at for his 3rd Wings album and just before going to Lagos, Nigeria for it his drummer and guitarist left the group leaving only himself, his wife and Denny Laine his other guitarist. They went and recorded most of the album there. "With no time to recruit replacements, McCartney went into the studio with just his wife Linda and Denny Laine. McCartney therefore played bass, drums, percussion and most of the lead guitar parts" During the recording he was robbed at knife point and lost demo tapes and song lyrics so he had to start over from scratch. And yet out of all that came the masterpiece which is Band On The Run. Pure genius.

    The video is mis-leading. Zep-man John Bonham is not playing drums. Paul plays the drums. He and Denny Laine are the only ones on guitar. The video is a mishmash of other sessions. Other than the orchestra and horns, Paul, Denny and Linda are the only ones playing on the song. This is the last song on the Band on the Run album, hence the call-back. It was also the b-side to the Band on the Run single, so it works for that too.

      @@patticrichton1135 Right. They recorded So Glad to See You too. The finished tracks ended up on Back to the Egg. The second part was from One Hand Clapping. Wings performed Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five, it's just that this isn't that version.

      @debjorgo 8 місяців тому

      @@jameskelly8586 The video could had been edited better. I like the live action Paul, Linda and Denny. Take out everything that tries to make it look like it's the session for the official version. At least take out that captioning for the band member not on the song.
