I got the very distinct feeling that the "monster" is not a Hologramm at least. This holodeck has a lot of "flickering" when systems are stressed, but never the monster or the crew. However I was thinking it might be what his mother mutated into (instead of dying). But him splitting his personality makes perfect sense as well.
I wonder if their doing a 'Source Code' type story, where perhaps Su'Kal is only healthy in the hologram world, but in reality Su'Kal is very injured/deformed? Perhaps he's hideously mutated by the radiation and somehow not just mentally, but also physically bonded with the crystals?
That could be kind of cool... and maybe in the finale they realize he can’t leave as a result of that? I definately agree the computer is masking his true self somehow...
Thanks! Yes, how we've missed that simple star trek story format :). The whole season long story arc style can be.a bit hit and miss sometimes... Hopefully they will do more classic one off standalone star trek style stories in season 4 🖖
How you explained everything makes total sense. When I saw the pilot of Discovery.... My 1st comment was... They F'd up...... Because of Discovery being so advanced..... You helped to clarify my confusion.
The premise is very classic trek. But the whole season has been building up to this, feels a let down to a whole season of the show. And the whole federation being destroyed by this one event. Seams far fetched within the logic of the show. Great video tho
Totally agree, as a standalone episode it feels very Trek like... but in a season long story arc it definitely feels contrived, with the story all over the place rather than building up to this and having some breadcrumbs along the way... it could have really resonated if there was some proper build up... but it just came out of nowhere 😂 🖖
Seems very fitting for new Trek. Super interesting premise, utterly failed execution. Picard did it, too, and was only saved by distracting us with that awesome final moment with the ships and simulation characters.
Wow! Just found this vid and love it! I said something quite similar re trek story telling on a last episode recap vid ... Would have loved to see this theory being used! Looking forward to your recap
Do you think that the writers would be THAT sophisticated in their storytelling? You go into a lot of detail with some of it being speculative (psychic ability of Ba'ul?). It was mentioned that subspace was involved with the Burn. How does that fit in?
Between Charlie X, the Organians, The Alternative Factor, the Talosians and Gary Mitchell there is nothing out of the ordinary. *And that was just TOS Season 1!* Edit: I forgot the Guardian of Forever and whatever kept Zephram Cochrana alive in The Galileo Seven.
well, Kelpians naturally would love being around water because they're kelpians, of/from Kelp... but I love the overall theory... the Ba'ul reminds me of the creature in TNG' skin of evil... the creature and the kelpian child in discovery both exhibit child-like behaviour
Yogi's path towards enlightenment consists of preying on the desires and exterminating it. Untill..the great fall (a ball falling down stairs keep on falling: Patanjali yoga sutra)
Good theory, and feels very start-trek-y; but you need to puzzle in the sphere data. It's obviously consious and self-aware, and knows all technology; including timetravel. It could be the solve-everything-way-out. The sphere bonds with discovery, and shows what will happen if timetravel is used; including far in the future. Then they all wake up, and the sphere decides to stop control and commit suicide ;-) ... a bit of JJ's lost vibes. Just kidding; I like your theory better.

That’s an interesting idea about it being the mother...
I honestly think you nailed it. Good job on the theory and the video
The way you described it was better then what they did on the show.
Haha thanks 😊
Wow, I can see this! Nice job! Now let's see what happens!

Oh, a callback to "the Cage"?
Love your theories! I agree with the feeling of the episode, it´s nice to be back to the planet of the week, away team, mistery and crazy stories.

@@StarTrekTheory I hope the same for season 4 and Strange new worlds!

This is an excellent idea. I think this is an expanded Trek in step with both the classic but the next stage story telling of Discoverys voyage.
Thanks!

Thanks! I just saw the finale, too bad they didn’t go with something like this. 😂 I’ll do a season recap and review of s3 theories video soon.

One can only hope they have a plan 😂

Why does everyone always go for 50/50... What if he is 1/4? 1/8? or 1/16 Ba'ul?
With Each variation having different attributes in their progeny?
nice work!
Thanks!
Are you done doing videos?
I would like a theory on who build the doomsday machine
