    After years with a mix of Samsung, Huawei and Oppo phones, I bought a Xiaomi and got this phone.
    Love the charging, the camera hardware, especially the zoom lenses. I use them more for portrait pictures than for zoom. The speakers are amazing, so is the haptic feedback.
    Few cons though, that can easily be fixed with software updates, but checking Xiaomi phones, I realized they won't because that's how Xiaomi makes their phones.
    Some of those cons are:
    1- Skin tones, they're either desaturated, or extremely saturated.
    2- HDR almost never kicks in while shooting with the authentic mode.
    3- Software lacks many of the core features found in other Android skins. For example, I would love them to give us more options for the side gestures that Samsung implement using the One Hand operation app.
    4- They need to get rid of the iOS like notification/toggle bar and the way it operates.
    All in all, the pros still outnumber the cons by a mile. I'm enjoying the device so far, and hopefully Xiaomi will listen to the community found in their members app, because this has the potential to be the best phone on the market if we only look at the hardware it comes with.

      how many hours of screens on time can you get from a single charging?

    • @kb24theMVP
      @kb24theMVP Місяць тому

      @@darulmaxmur SOT is a meaningless stat. It depends on what content you view and what you do with your phone.
      What I can tell you is to not expect an S24 or S23 level of battery life. The pro though is that you can plug it for 10 mins and you'll have enough juice to survive the whole day if you were heavily using it.

      Great points! I totally get where you're coming from. The software definitely has its quirks when you look closely, doesn't it? But like you, I find the benefits make those issues a bit easier to overlook. And about Xiaomi's tendency to copy, I'm right there with you-it feels a bit over the top. Like, have you seen the Xiaomi car? It’s practically a twin of a Porsche on the outside. Feels unnecessary, right?
      I'm also crossing my fingers for some software updates to fix those annoying bugs and glitches. Still, given Xiaomi's track record with updates, I'm keeping my expectations in check.

    • @JMTMarc
      @JMTMarc  Місяць тому +1

      Regarding screen-on time (SoT): I'm also not a huge fan of this stat. For me, it fluctuates quite a bit, which makes sense since it depends on a variety of factors: Wi-Fi or 5G, signal strength, display brightness, and what you're generally doing. Currently, I'm getting about 5-7 hours with a balanced mix of camera use, UA-cam, TikTok, email, and browsing the internet.

      @@JMTMarc their car tells you a lot about the company's business model. Give the consumers a great product, while making sure we still copy paste other's homework. It's a mix of McLaren and Porsche, with a hint of Lincoln from the back.
      The biggest issue for me is undoubtedly the inconsistency in representing skin colors. One picture of my kids would look flawless, the second their skins will come out as extremely pale and lifeless with contrast turned to max.

    This phone is the photographer's dream. Vivo's too don't get me wrong. I have been comparing pics from pro max 15 and S24 ultra with the ones taken from the mi 14 ultra and Xiaomi is leaps ahead.

    • @JMTMarc
      @JMTMarc  Місяць тому +1

      I completely agree! Vivo is excellent, but its photo style is different. Vivo tends to produce more neutral images, while Xiaomi has a subtly vintage feel. I'm not sure how else to describe it.

    • @makdrumz
      @makdrumz Місяць тому

      YES! It can look vintage depending on the subject and time of the day but also has an overall real camera character and not a digital image look like other flagships (no oversharpening, natural depth of field as well as no oversaturated colours).

    what about usb headphones? i've read that on samsung 3rd party (non-samsung) adapters don't work... on my 13t pro a random chinese usb-3.5mm adapter works normally. did you try? i must say i hate phones that don't have a 3.5mm jack on them but it looks like it's another cost saving "feature".

    Agree with everything you stated in this summary. Except I've Gina bck to using my S24 Ultra as my daily phone due to the general software of One UI vs HyperOS.
    If this phone had OneUI and even better the completely flat screen, it would be the perfect phone at the moment.
    Love love love the authentic looking photos the. Camera produces and the Fast charging beats any great battery any day for me!

      The S24 Ultra is a fantastic phone. I appreciate its build quality, the flat, ultra non-reflective screen, and the software. However, I was quite disappointed with the cameras this time. Despite this, I continue to use the S24 Ultra because it is so evolved, stable, and well-developed.

    • @JMTMarc

    Have it myself.
    Had the vivo x100 pro before.
    Its the package for me. I get very good zoom, telemacro, 1 inch sensor and the pro mode with profiles is killing it.
    Also using the camera kit with a CPL filter.
    Much better speakers than the vivo. Love the design with the quad curve and the flat sides.
    Have the s24 ultra as business device... and omfg the camera really is a step down. Blurry pictures, wrong skin tones, tons of noise, very inconsistent overall. Maybe my feeling is wrong but the s23 ultra which i had before wasnt this bad.

      A lot of users are reporting problems with condensation and mediocre battery life. I too had condensation in the main lens, but it disappeared after a while. Battery life could be better, but I wouldn't call it a drain. Other phones like the S24 Ultra also use substantially more battery when using the camera app. I have no problems with notifications or notification sounds, however.

    Let's not pretend that a one inch sensor produces a "natural depth of field". Yes, to that respect it's better than the usual smartphone camera's, but it's still poor compared to a DSLR or full frame camera. To achieve a certain sense of depth, one therefore must always frame carefully and use objects in the foreground.

    • @JMTMarc
      @JMTMarc  Місяць тому

      Of course it does. And of course, it depends on how close the object is to the sensor plane, the size of the aperture, and the focal length used. In this regard, every sensor, regardless of its size, produces a depth of field. 'Natural' was just referring to the fact that the blur in the background is not created by software.
