  • Making its debut in our 50th Anniversary Collection, this 217e-SB Plus LTD introduces the Grand Pacific body shape to the 200 Series. Layered Indian rosewood back and sides paired with a solid torrefied Sitka spruce top offer a pleasing blend of projection, warmth and clarity. The torrefied top, decked out with a tobacco sunburst, yields a sweet, played-in character, while our tone-enhancing C-Class bracing adds more volume, sustain and low-end presence. The round-shoulder dreadnought body delivers clear power in the bass range and round, broad notes that overlap for a seasoned tone that's sure to entice fans of vintage acoustic sounds. It makes a great all-purpose instrument, perfect for everything from strumming cowboy chords to flatpicking runs to softer fingerpicking. Limited-edition appointments include diamond fretboard inlays, gold tuners, ebony bridge pins with gold dots and a commemorative interior back label. It ships with ES2 electronics and a sturdy AeroCase. Production is limited to 1,974 guitars.

    I always watch these commercials for the entertainment value, both in the back and forth conversation, and the playing. To me everything in Quinton’s hands sounds great. I’d love to see more Quinton’s quick licks. Just another beautiful sounding and looking acoustic guitar.

    Hi Both Actually 17 isn't the body shape. A 217 numbers mean 2 is the series, 1 = soft top (spruce, cedar), 7 is the body shape which is a Grand Pacific.

    Quinton is a fantastic player!!! That is a beautiful Taylor, so glad to see the 17 series in the 100 and 200. So much tone candy, now anyone can put a Taylor in their collection.

    The 7 is the body shape. The 1 signifies a spruce top. If it were a 2 it would be a hardwood top. It’s a C class bracing.

    The layered back and sides are nice

      Isn’t layered n term for plywood?

    • @lhvent
      @lhvent 3 місяці тому

      Yes. They use 3 plys of Rosewood in this case. The middle layer may be Sapele or Mohagany.

    I love the look of this guitar, but it just doesn't haven't enough bass end to meet my needs. Too bad, because it is a beauty.

      Excellent for recording. That is why almost all country music in the 90’s was recorded with Taylors, and also why it was Taylor’s best decade.

      @@jed1166 I'm looking for a guitar that has the tone that I like right out of the sound hole, especially since I hardly ever play with an amp these days. It's certainly a great guitar for some situations, but it's not what I need.

      I read a comment from another video and it was said to try these to give it more bass. Elixir Strings 16077 Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - .012-.056 Medium Light I ordered this guitar and these strings, I hope that works?

    • @WoodworkerDan
      @WoodworkerDan 15 днів тому

      @@JodyRushMusic That sounds like a good choice. I have used Elixir medium light Polyweb (80/20 bronze) with good results. The phosphor bronze should give you a warmer tone than the 80/20. I hope it works out for you.

    This is actually C class bracing… according to the Taylor website. The whole 200 series now are C class bracing.

    The Taylor 217e isn’t X brace it’s C class bracing like the grand theater body shape.

    17 isn’t a body shape. 7 is. That’s the Grand pacific. The 1 means the wood type. 1 is lighter/softer like spruce. 2 would be a darker wood like walnut. You were only right about the series. The 2.
    As for the plus, it doesn’t mean a gloss finish. The gs mini e koa plus is not glossy. Plus means that it is different from standard. Usually in terms of the finish, tuners, electronics and the supplied gig bag (aero).
    Finally, the bracing for GP is not X bracing. It’s C-class bracing.

    It would help if you show the case, if it comes with one.

      It comes with their new aero case. They say it offers all the protection of their hard case but it’s lightweight.

    Taylor is a marketing powerhouse. I notice a lot of contestants on The Voice and Idol use Taylors. But for me, the tone is thin. I had a Ovangkol 410 from 2002 but sold it. I picked up a used Yamaha dread for $200 that blows that Taylor away. They're pretty but just not worth it, for me. I mean, $1300 for a non-solid wood guitar? Nice Eastmans cost half that.

    Taylor's are so bad that my local Guitar store ...that is renown and well known Guitar store.... carry very few of them. The guys there told me they couldn't sell em bc people didn't want them anymore. People hate the V bracing. They sound thin and tinny. Old Taylors before e 2018 and the made in Mexico made are still in demand b/c of the X bracing.

  • @marioevyeniou7958

    What a tinny wirey sound. I've heard better sounding guitars from amazon for 30 bucks
    I honestly wouldn't have a taylor if it was free.they are over rated jewellery boxes.
    These guitars shouldnt even come into the same conversation as the great martin guitars.

    I think you should find someone to replace Quinton King. He talks too much, doesn’t say anything helpful and doesn’t play so one can really hear the instrument.

    Taylor's attempt to copy Gibson!!!. Taylor can't sell their crap V bracing so they copy the greats. Taylor before 2018 , the year Bob Taylor sold out.. was GREAT! Now they suck... Made in Mexico Taylors are still good guitars with X bracing

      @@kylenewberry8598 I totally disagree!! From 1969 to 1986 Gibsons were known as crap guitars under the "Norlin" years when Gibson was owned by Norlin.. Gibson makes some amazing guitars now!...
