I found one of those 50th GS-Mini's last week and its supposed to be delivered tomorrow so super stoked to add it to the collection. The Taylor build sheet for the 50th GS-Mini calls those fretboard inlays "Faux Pearl 50th Anniversary Diamonds", and the bridge pins are called "Crelicam Ebony with Gold Acrylic Dot". The build sheet doesn't list "Torrefied" but the seller listed it as "Torrefied and Taylor did confirm to me that it is a "Torrefied" Solid Sitka Spruce top. There may be slight differences from guitar to guitar but the burst on this 50th GS-Mini seems to be the same as the Special Edition Vintage SunBurst GS-Mini released Q4 of 2023. I haven't seen any marketing on this 50th GS-Mini which doesn't surprise me because Taylor likes to slide many Special and Limited Edition GS-Mini's out through its smaller reseller program under the radar so I have been watching for any youtube videos of it. Sounds and looks great. Thanks for the video.
I love my koa plus gs-mini but have some serious GAS for that new 50th anny gs-mini - so sweet! Much love to Alamo for all your great content - you guys are also sweet!
My 50th Anniversary 217e-SB Plus LTD will be arriving Thursday from Sweetwater. I'm normally a dreadnaught guy, but I think I'm gonna love the Grand Pacific body (tone) on this one. I own two GS mini's, a 210e (dreadnaught from 2016), 714e, T5Z, and Academy 12. It sounds like I'll still maintain a good low end in the 217' that I've come to love in my dreadnaught. Thanks for the video. I enjoyed that.
I’m very fond of the 217e. I just got it two weeks ago and love it. Picked it up from Sweetwater. I have a full review on the Sweetwater site under that guitar. They just posted it. -Larry
Picking her up today AFTER did a lot of research , fail in love with this one since first saw the look and the sound is the one that am looking for , Awesome Guitar !!!!
Yo Cooper! Its the Yooper here... I bought the mini rose today ❤❤❤ You played so beautifully, and you guys showed us the quality. I think I made a great choice. Thanks! ❤
Great presentation on the latest Taylor releases. In my opinion it’s a plus that the mini is not a gloss finish. I hate fingerprints and constantly having to wipe them off. I do wish Taylor included the Aero case with the mini though. Both sound great 👍🏻
I like the 50th GS Mini, and Cooper’s playing on the GS Mini is exceptional. But I’m waiting for a mid-priced mahogany 50th model, based upon a 324ce or AD24ce.
I ended up putting hands on one of these 217e Plus LTD models and did something I never thought I'd do again, I bought another Taylor! I know it's $600 more than the 117e, but worth it to me for the burst gloss finish (which is the same polyester finish they use all the way up the line) and the Aero Case... I have never been a fan of V-Class bracing on most models, but especially on the GP body shape I think V-Class has failed to hit the mark, but the C-Class bracing they developed for the GT really works with this body shape... I'll be surprised if Taylor doesn't transition to using C-Class with relief route bracing on all GP models.
I'd call that color Rose on that mini, and thats what caught my eye about it. Beautiful playing on that mini, sir. ❤ I wanna play that good! I'm a Yooper, Cooper. Lol omg that was in my brain the whole time I was watching this. Rainy morning in Michigan. I appreciate the report very much. I of course, bought the taylor chocolate aero case first. Thats the "if you build it they will come" mentality. So I am shoppin to put something into it. 😂😊
I played that same Gs Mini in the music store...loved it. Then they sat up and open mic night and I grabbed it and plugged it in and played it live. Needs a little work to sound as good as my 214 Ce DLX QS live, but after you adjust it, should be nails.
Chris, Cooper or anyone at Alamo Music, I know your store has a great relationship with Taylor. I would love a GS-Mini that looks like the current 618e or the limited edition 611e from a couple of years ago. Can you guys make this happen?
Cooper is becoming one of those annoying demo guys that will make a shoe box and an elastic band sound amazing. Dont think a Mini ever sounded that good really nice demo and well the 217 you knocked that out the park so thanks always a great channel
You should see the ladies when he plays. I saw a video of him when he was still a square with short hair. The look of the ladies watching him was "wait till I lasso this buckaroo."😄 Cooper is great.
Super impressed with the tone of the 217. They also introduced the 117 for about $800 which has the same bracing, the same torrified top wood, but not as ornamented
You guys should hire me to play a bit right after Cooper… This way you can give the audience a version of how craptastic an instrument can also sound ahah! 🤣 Great playing Cooper, as always 🤙
I think I must be the only person in the world ever to trade in a GS Mini. Not sure if it was just the walnut version, but it never sounded great & had issues staying in tune. Maybe my expectations were too high. I played it a lot, but in the end just wasn't happy. On the plus side, I got a Faith Nomad as my new travel guitar, which has been fantastic & to me plays & sounds better than my Mini ever did, & an Epiphone Les Paul Junior for the trade in. Me & the store were both very happy!
I have owned three different GS mini models and I’m in your camp. I like them but dont love them and I can’t justify spending what they are going for now. But that’s me.
@@angrynerdrock The last one I had was the rosewood E. A nice guitar but prices have gone too high for what they are. That’s my opinion, and not a majority view.
I’ve owned two GS Minis, a Taylor 500 and Taylor 100 series… the truth is these are very well made but very generic sounding guitars… the well made part important though, great intonation, great fret work, craftsmanship solid.. just very middle of the road tone. The perfect acoustic for an electric player looking to add a good acoustic for their plugged in live shows.
Is it me, or do all the layered guitars sound the same except for the difference in tops? I'm not saying that's bad, but I have a walnut Academy 12e and a sepele Big Baby and they both sound like they were made with poplar back and sides. (Same thing when all the layered guitars are demonstrated on YT.) My Sepele 314 ce and my AD 12e-sb definitely do not sound the same... Not that the layered guitars sound in any way bad, I think they are awesome and I gig with the Academy all the time just because of the arm rest. Anyway, there's a topic for another video if you haven't done that already. Another great video no else has done is gigging with a live 5 piece band with an acoustic guitar. These guys are so loud on stage I ditched my acoustic amp and am now running from a DI box to a pedal board with reverb, chorus and delay then into a 1000 watt full range 12 inch monitor speaker and from there to the board. It works but feedback is definitely a thing. If they keep it up, I'm ditching the acoustic and going with my Am Pro II Tele and my Deluxe Reverb.... What really has me scratching my head is the drummer is playing an electronic kit. Why are they playing country death metal? Anyway, thanks for the therapy session, cheers! 🙂
Love own a gs mini but still to high priced for me . Acoustic guitars have become my passion and need a small body to play and take with me. I play for myself and family no bands for me ! Thanks guys for the videos
I had three different GS MINI versions, the last being the rosewood E version. I liked each of them. I know they are very popular and at $500-600 I think they are great. But where I see the cost going on these… it doesn’t work for me. Thank you.
I love the 217e. I just wish it came with a hard case. I don't want a soft case for my guitars no matter how nice they are. The deluxe taylors as well as 300 series and up come with a hard case for a reason. This being an anniversary and such a nice guitar, it should also come with a hard case. So bottom line is if I buy this I will have to also spend $200 on a Taylor hard case!
great review as always but the 50th gs mini is a let down for me, just because you dont get the aero bag with the guitar. on all other 50th you get a hardshell case.
Oh goody, yet another 18 minute demo extolling the virtues of guitars with built-in pickups/preamps (You're paying extra for) that doesn't bother to demo said pickups/preamps. I can only assume retailers ignore this selling point deliberately to deter consumers from walking away once they actually hear them plugged in. >:^(

Same here. I’ll buy one if you buy one
Happy to see this couple! You are almost my family for last month, since i started to choose my new guitar ))
That GS Mini is BEAUTIFUL! I think its time for me to pick up another GS Mini.

Hi! What do you think of your 217E? I'm in the market for a dreadnought sound, but with a slightly smaller body (Mostly flatpicking).

Wow! I want this even more now. And God damn cooper you got some skills man, really enjoyed your playing.
Do you think we will ever see 1-3/4” nut width models out of the Tecate factory?
I like the 50th GS Mini, and Cooper’s playing on the GS Mini is exceptional. But I’m waiting for a mid-priced mahogany 50th model, based upon a 324ce or AD24ce.
That 217 sounds freaking great in Cooper’s hands❤😅
I think a Sears guitar from the 70s would also. Great player!
Cooper, you’re incredible with your fingerstyle playing!

Cooper’s playing is so tasty. This particular composition needs to be recorded on an album for me to listen to away from UA-cam.

Cooper is the voice of Taylor’s 50th Anniversary! GS Mini-e LTD. Nice!
In my mind, the way laminates are being made now, there seems to be good construction and sound.

"It's satin, like a non-plus"... I love Chris's expression when Cooper says that. Lol 😂❤
Super impressed with the tone of the 217. They also introduced the 117 for about $800 which has the same bracing, the same torrified top wood, but not as ornamented
I think I’m going to try 117

Hey...I see your store carries Kala...If you haven't tried their cedar top parlor guitar...you should. It will surprise you
Ol' Cooper just killin' it.
You guys should hire me to play a bit right after Cooper…

Great playing Cooper, as always 🤙
The new 217E is quite nice.
Sounds incredible that GS Mini
Is the 217 possibility opening the door for a 211 or 111?

I traded mine. I struggled with the scale length. Very cramped as you move up the neck.
Cooper should do the demos left handed so the guitar can sound more like the way it sounds when I play
I assume there are some great craftsmanship coming out of Mexico.
In the market for a GC bodied Taylor and I notice there aren't any offerings in the 50th anniversary models. Hmmm? Any coming?
I want one of those GS Minis so bad. Hopefully I find the funds for one.
torrefied tops make all the difference :)
Unless you have 20 years to wait... 🙂

That 217 👍👍👍
Need a comparison video, 417 vs 50th anniversary 217.............please
Doe the GS Mini-e LTD come with the Arrow Case?
No

Possibly you have not show us everything yet.

Cooper is too good.
I would get another gs mini if it didn’t have that burst
Really? Then it would be just another regular mini.
Are either of you aware of a quality 14 fret mini with a cutaway?
