+Garreth Allen At least you were able to skip the whole tutorial if you wanted, plus you always could use your training units as you wished and were not forced to make pre-set turns in order to go on - you only got some instructions from Nell how you are able to beat the map and than you played like as if it was a normal campaign mission. That is how a good tutorial should look like - not like the ones in many other games where you have to do every single step like the developer wants you to do and STILL have to learn core mechanics as you're playing the main game.
@@AquaAtia If they are going to have online multiplayer they either need to rebalance quite a lot of COs or have leagues that can allow or exclude people like Nell and Hachi.
Nells theme made me feel like I was in school!! Learning the basics of strategic combat exercises!! Nells awesome, she sometimes gets those crazy lucky shots!!!
This theme actually reminds me more of Olaf than Nell herself. Olaf in the tutorial of AW1 was just so cute... he couldn't manage to do one thing right. XD
I continuously forget how good she is. At one point I tried to use her as a VS. Bot, on a map with more than obvious FTA letting her go first. I just barely pulled out- and that's saying something, considering this IS the AI of Advance Wars.
The overall charm this fucking game had after booting it up was already great. Coupled with this iconic, most memorable theme in the whole damn series just fucking immortalized forever. Advance Wars Love Forever~
Ironically, since I started playing AW1 on a cousin's cartridge, I played the campaign first and then did the training field out of curiosity so Andy's theme feels more like the tutorial music and Nell's feels like an extra chapter theme. Weird I know.
The very first OST that I loved in Advance Wars Series. I was 17 years old and I read, at times, the very good impressions of a Nintendo Magazine. I tried this game and... Oh man, do I ever agree with the description. The COs in Dual Strike look awful, Nell in particular. Adder, ironically, is one that I think actually still looked good after the jump from the GBA to the DS. He's supposed to look creepy, no?
Curiosity: Nell in Japanese version is know as Catherine... the same Catherine from Super Famicom Wars (the snes version) she is also know as "Lucky Lady", +20% additional damage of luck Personally, is better the theme song of Catherine of Snes than this version
Love her theme. I'm not sure I agree with your sentiments in how the characters have changed over the series, though. I agree that Nell looks crappy in DS. I was appalled at her change, as well as Jess', and I think a few more were "eh", such as Kanbei. Sonja is basically the same, though, and Adder was only really updated from his previous models. I imagine if they had the technology, that's what Adder would've looked like from the beginning. I think he looks awesome actually.
Nell is fun if you feel like randomly massacring Neotanks with infantry. Otherwise, I like more balance with my COs. And speaking of Field Training, I just miss those little portrait animations they had in the first one.
This is the kind of theme that says both yes I am a secret boss character who is extremely overpowered and you only get a once in a blue moons chance of beating me and unlocking me as a result at least that's what it sounds like to me like yea I know I'm badass but I don't like to flaunt it ; )
well, the way you are supposed to use luck is to swarm tought enemies such as neotanks with semi-decent units against them such as mechs. It is not likely to get lucky on the first try, but it is much more likely to get lucky on 3 consecutive tries. So swarm and kill. -oh, and can we please talk about how she gets ANOTHER 15 d2d luck from Rachel?-
Mechs are not the best example as they might be attacked before they get the first strike and as luck is based on hp it's kinda dumb to use mechs. I would recommend infantry and tanks or in some cases recons.
@@theultimatetactician1712 yeah, recons are extremely good due to their insane movement. They are also still cheap so attacking a megatank with them will usually yield a very cost effective trade as long as any of her COs is up.
@@IschmarVI I'd still usually just play her as any other co and just try to get more value per engagements, saccing units isn't always smart as unit count has a lot to say in who is winning, sacking infantry is not the best and I wouldn't start ramming recons into megatanks on a usual basis. Rather just play like any other co and use tanks on tanks, if you see the opportunity to go for a high value unit on a road, plain or forest and they ain't got defense boost go for it.
Jess doesn't seem different? Her whole facial structure has changed, and she no longer is carrying her tank bullet. Also, she has a visible mullet. I'm not sure I see what you mean about Flak. He has a smaller jaw and less of a hunchback look to him, but other than that, he is pretty much exactly the same.
So random question based on something I heard recently. Since apparently defense stars or even just unit defense from CO stuff in general lowers Nell's luck...would it be reasonable to guess that Lash would be a good counter for Nell because of her doubling her defense stars and getting added stuff off of them? Or is there something I'm missing that'd make that a bad choice?
