Been looking forward to watching this vlog!!! The Kotobukiya store is dangerous for my wallet lol I like how they really explained from the planning process up to the release. So much work happening in the background while we as collectors/customers simply wait for the announcements and preorders! 😅 I hope everyone engages more with Kotobukiya's social media accounts since they are actively updating it everyday too. I wish Kotobukiya would also regularly check the secondary market so they become aware how high the prices of some previously released figures can be! 😂 But Kotobukiya is still one of my favorite companies due to their friendly pricing and consistent quality~
Oh I’m so jealous, first for going to Japan, and second getting a tour of the Kotobukiya store, they’re probably my favourite manufacturer. They do such brilliant figures and at a great price, then they’re the best company for getting the likeness of characters correct.
Thanks for taking us along for the tour! As someone who just picked up some Kotobukiya scales, this was awesome! I also have a Zoids HMM kit reimagining the original 80's Godos. I don't plan to build it. I just wanted it to celebrate Zoids, as they (along with Transformers,) were that early taste of Japan in the U.S. in a time that anime etc was not nearly as accessible. Thankfully the illustrations on the box (by Mercy Robbit) are amazing! (BTW, the Transformers Bishoujo line is the PERFECT reminder of the Transformers' Japanese roots! )😎
Yay so happy you enjoyed it!! All the people I met during the tour were so friendly and passionate about their work. Def reflects in the products imo!! 🎉🎉
Joanne! I'm so late to the comment section party, but thank you so much for sharing this video. I feel like most, if not every Anime figurine enthusiast owns at least one Kotobukiya product in their collection so I appreciate the extensive look and interview of the behind the scenes process. Sounds like your trip went well, when I visited Japan I got lost so many times with simple directions too when leaving the train station 😂.
Always interesting to see behind the curtains no matter how many times and from how many perspectives and angles. I guess you had a very good and memorable experience from your visit. Happy that you got to go to Japan, i guess you are itching to go back. I so wanted to go this year but couldn´t for many reasons, but i so hope someday not to soon i will have the chance and when i do stay a very long time, not just a week or a weekend, preferable months or as long as possibly, to get everythign out of the moments and cross of that list of everything i was always ment to do. Any more Japan videos coming out or did you sort of tried to have some moments to yourself and not make videos out of everything? Gotta keep that balance and find time to be in the moments and let things be natural. Best of luck to you Joanne, keep on going!
Wow! This is next level! Really fun and interesting to see this. I hope it gets lots of views! Two thoughts- 1. You mention the bishoujo figures and then suddenly I’m looking at Star Wars . 😮 Also, I bet in future interviews, you probably won’t say はい quite as much.😝
@cactiguide oh no I noticed it a lot lmao but I can't cut out every instance from our lovely interpreter (who I wouldn't have been able to do this without!)
4:34 Oh god, I’d love to watch the anime for Frame Arms Girls, I’ve seen a video here going over the first episode and it looked so fun, but I can’t buy it & it’s not streaming anywhere.
This was an awesome video and very informative well done. Kotobukiya is an awesome company love their products especially their line of model kit figures. And speaking about model kit figures you finaly did it building a model kit figure congratulations Joanne did you liked it? i personaly love model kits i'm a huge fan gundam. Japan is an awesome country love it but honestly so glad that i don't live there i would become so broke over there not gonna lie LOL🤣🤣🤣 Will you be doing something similair in the future but with another company like Goodsmile or Bandai? Other than that and once again an awesome video keep up the great work Joanne👍 And greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱
Hi Didier!! I really enjoyed making the model kit! It was like a 3D puzzle and I love puzzles 🤣. It would be awesome to do something like this again but I'll see if another opportunity comes up! 😄
btw, being a fellow newbie when it comes to "model kits," may I ask if there is a lot involved? I figured I wouldn't be able to do my Zoids HMM model justice, so I was content leaving it in box and just enjoy "Mercy Rabbit's" sweet artwork, (just as a tribute to having an original Zoid when I was young.) It seems so tricky to nip each piece just right from the sprues to avoid "stress marks" etc. And then many seem to go the extra mile to "sand" all the nubs. (It all just seems overly brutal with my OCD lol.) 🤣 Did you jump through all those extra hoops on your attempt? (Thanks!)
It was surprisingly easy for me! But then again I picked a kit that was beginner friendly. Clipping the little pieces wasn't too bad and putting them together was highly satisfying haha. I didn't bother to sand all the pieces - just the ones where I didn't cut cleanly. Give it a try!!
My wallet wouldn't handle going to the flagship store, Everything looked amazing, and sometimes we forget how much time and effort goes to making a figure, so I really appreciate seeing everything that goes on inside of Kotobukiya's Headquarters, so I want to thank Kotobukiya for all they hard work they do and also want to thank you for making this amazing video, and I can't wait to see next
It’s great hearing about how they work entirely based off preorders, I actually don’t understand this part of the business. Like AmiAmi will close orders while still in preorder on some figures and that’s that, there won’t ever be on sale in the store, if you didn’t preorder it’s gone. Then just hope to pick one up on preowned or pay a marked up price on a different website. I always preorder the figures I want, I just want to ensure that I get it, I don’t really care if a figure drops in value later, a few of the figures I’ve bought recently have dropped, the Semiramis by Phat Company I payed ¥32k for, you can get it now on sale for ¥25, or the White Dress Albedo from FuRyu I payed ¥44k for, it then dropped to ¥35k, but then sold out very quick.
hello Joanne, im a collector of figures funkos and mangas, i started buying from amiami but its soo expensive : Im from italy and one of the cheapest way withouyt waiting 4 or 6 months costs me 100 euros, and than once arrived at my home i had to pay additional 50 euros of taxes.... Do you know a better website to pay less? Thanks in advance
It's awesome you are able to get an interview with them! They seemed really nice
They were all so nice!! 😄
Thanks Jojo for the bts look at Kotobukiya! Japan is definitely the holy land for us otaku and I can't wait to visit again! 😆
It truly is 🤩 anytime I have some time off, I always want to go to Japan 🤣

I'm wondering if Joanne agreed a U.S. import and distribution license for Kotobukiya whilst she was out there in Japan?? Great video.
Lol what do you mean? 🤣
