years later if im choosing a rowing video to show school rowers the 1986 8 is the one. all heroes of mine. it doesnt get any better. will we ever see the likes of Steve Evans or Jimmy or Mick (and the rest) i doubt it
A demonstration of beautiful rowing, but drawing lane 1 played a big part in this victory, as we saw the 2 German crews out in lanes 5 an 6 struggling with the cross winds in the last 1km and the Americans in lane 2 come from nowhere.

I remember watching this, just before the final the Aus 8 rowed almost the whole course as a warm up, like they owned it and they did!
