I Went to RHYL To See Why the BRITISH MEDIA Hates It

- I recently read an article which claimed that Rhyl in North Wales was the worst British seaside town. I went to investigate for myself.

I am 54 and mum and dad every year used to take us to Rhyl and Towyn in a caravan, when we had kids me and my husband always took our 2 kids and now we take our granddaughter! You would be surprised loads of people still go every year with their kids and grandkids, love it!❤️❤️
In the 50s and 60s, our 2-week holiday was spent at Sunnyvale Holiday Camp in Rhyl! I have the fondest memories of Rhyl. Thank you. for bringing them back to me! I live in Brazil now but, I would trade all this for another 2 weeks with my late mum and dad :(
Our holidays were always at Sunnyvale holiday camp for many years but how lucky are you to have got 2 weeks we got one week you must have been on the posh side (lol).
@@williamroberts6294 No, not really. LOL, we were eight kids crammed in a hired van travelling from Scotland. There were no back seats, only a cushion and a mattress. We were lying on the floor. My parents didn't have much but always ensured they saved for 2 weeks so we could have a great holiday. As we got older we were allowed in the bar at night the entertainment was great. If we were really lucky we had the long walk down to the chippy ate fish and chips and perused the photographs the camp photographer had taken during the day. To think the press and some people who probably have never given it more than a cursory😀😀😀😀😀 glance is disgusting!
Yep. Nothing wrong with Rhyl in my view. Nice for a day out from Manchester. I wonder which part of Brazil you live in. Santa Catarina or Rio Grande do Sul maybe? I do know quite a bit of Portuguese and think the Brazilian dialects are a bit easier on the ears
@ Sao Paulo state 🇧🇷
I am 61 years old, and when we were young, we used to clean outside our houses, and mum would have us whitening the steps. Even though we had nothing, we had some pride and kept things clean and tidy.
Yes, I remember my mum, and others, scrubbing the step. A demeaning activity, like the domestic slavery many faced unless they could find work. Not a nostalgic memory I care to view with rose tinted glasses.
@frankward8336 Demeaning activity ? Looking after and being proud of where you live is demeaning ? cleaning is a necessity unless you're happy living in a pig sty. Unfortunately, there are many that are these days. Domestic slavery... what a bizarre comment.
Different times!
@jackiefisher1820 Very different, and generally speaking, people had less but valued things more.
@El-Tel63-Terry. that was exactly my thought too ❤
Thanks again for another honest and great vlog, and hopefully will get a few more visitors now😊
Those other so called journalists should be ashamed of themselves 😕
I spent every holiday in Rhyl during the 70s and early 80s. The BEST memories! My grandparents lived there and they saved their pennies for the arcades, Uncle Eric's on the seafront and the donkeys and the riding stables. Wonderful times xxx
Yes, I bet so many hold this town with high regard. You can tell it was a Victorian beauty, the coastline so impressive.Really angry that the town and people are not being supported. Rhyl deserves better.
1985/6 it was great. When I returned in the 90's/2000's, it was like an apocalypse movie in comparison, what a shame. Plenty of druggies and eastern European immigrants, but very few holiday makers. What a nose dive! I dreamt that one day, I might just see a 'Blues Mobile' parked outside The Palace Hotel on the front promenade. In the film they had their concert at The Palace Hotel Ballroom. 😆 I think that's been bulldozed now. (google maps shows it's just a big patch of grass). The site of the fair is now a retail park. Happy days from my childhood and early twenties, gone forever.☹
@@baylessnow True, it's a horrible place nowadays!
I’m a Donny lass who moved up to the North Wales coast with my parents many moons ago. Haven’t lived in Rhyl, but it’s a town that’s been part of my life one way or another. In recent years, I’ve worked hard to bring a lot of funding, employment and training opportunities to Rhyl, and it’s super challenging for all the reasons you spoke of James. Not going to lie, despite best efforts it’s getting worse. You’re right about the apathy, that’s a big part of it - and people have been let down so many times, I think they’ve given up. Rhyl is on the go to list for a few UA-camrs at the moment. Yours being the second film in as many days. I appreciate your ‘on the hoof’ insights and kindness. That will hopefully bring a little uplift to the local community. We all feel a massive storm brewing - I think we’ll need more than the coastal sea defence programme to tackle what’s coming next. Thank you 🙏🏾
I’m a Donny lad (Hyde Park, then Cantley), so know what rough really is. Rhyl is far from that in my humble opinion, although could on the face of it, do with an uplift. But to be fair that has to start with a sense of community spirit and development - far from easy to achieve!
I am half Welsh on mums side (Merthyr) and take a great sense of pride in that. My grandad passed from coal dust on the lungs way way back when I was barely a babe in arms, and my youngest has opted for Aberystwyth university as first choice (hopefully staying in September), so I’ll get plenty of opportunity to revisit my youth (I used to live in Cwmbran), as well as family.
I wish you all the luck with your rejuvenation endeavours
As a born and bred local of Rhyl for 40 years may I thank you for this positive video about the town, nice one
@officialCraigk I am not born and bred in Rhyl but, I wish I was. I have been going there since I was a child for my holidays. I am now 64 I even had my honeymoon there 46 years ago Palace avenue. My hubby and I still go back to that avenue to this day. This is his account but, I was that incensed at that comment I just had to reply. There are some lovely food places and some bad ones just like where I live. How on earth do you know what a place is like after 20 minutes and that review says more about her than it does about the place. My daughter now has a static caravan 5 minutes from Rhyl so we are there more often than not. If i had the money I would move to Rhyl tomorrow.
@@williamroberts6294 ....you have low expectations and an even lower income if you can't afford to live there 🤣
@@geebee6737 Let me explain why we do have a lower income. In 2021 my husband had 2 heart attacks he then had an emergency triple heart by pass to save his life. We lost everything we had worked for all our lives. We lost our home we lost our income as he could no longer work and I also had to give up work to look after him. You passed a comment on our income without even knowing anything.
Hi James, you appeared to give a very honest review of Rhyl as you found it. It may be worth a visit next summer in the height of the season to see the difference, many places look down at heel out of season, and days when it may be quieter. Thank you for going there.
What a bloody great vlog. You nailed it 👍
Thank you :-)
This is why we love your channel mate. You look for positives in places. Slagging places off is only gonna stop people going which hurts smaller businesses even more. I'm from county Durham and used to go to Scarborough for our holidays as kids. There is a video on UA-cam from Scarborough bank holiday 76. It's packed. Great watch if you get a chance. Love the new van mate
I live in Essex and visited Scarborough (the grand hotel 2 nights£104) and wish I had stayed longer visited Whitby and loved it so much I want to go back I think Yorkshire has beautiful country side , every where you go has good and bad ,it's what you make of it thanks for showing us around x
Try a village called “Fry up” near Whitby….its lovely..
I agree...after watching the Scarborough vid I am definitely going to visit
It's insulting to slag off places like Rhyl ordinary people live and work there
Agreed
The legacy media are paedophiles
Well said
Every town has its grotty side,Rhyl isn't any different. Unfortunately the council seem to waste money to on the wrong things.
Some people get a kick from posting negative reviews. I did post a bad review of Harrogate, but based on people's attitudes to visitors, one nasty pub, but I balanced it by praising the local Spoons and the lovely staff there.
Reviews that are purely negative don't have any value imo
Have been going to rhyl for over 30 years. Took my kids there when they were little. Have lovely memories and lots of photos of the Sun center the fair, the aquarium. We have stayed in lots of different caravans and chalets over the years and did the best we coukd with not much money. Cheap and cheerful and we did the best to give the kids a great time, and they kids loved every minute of it ❤. Just up the road is Towyn, and again another great place for the kids. Some people just get off on moaning 😂. Thanks James for this video ❤
Enjoyed the vlog James, as a child I used to love going to RhyI. I now live in Mold, another great town for you to visit(Wednesday or Saturday for a busy market)! So glad you mentioned the Welsh language and that you appreciate our heritage. Looking forward to your next vlog! Diolch yn fawr!🥰
Not been to Rhyl for years, Wow how it's changed. Because of your video we'll go back, it looks brilliant, thanks James.
What do you want from a seaside town? A place to park, stay, a beach to go on and places to eat and drink. There's better places to shop if that's your thing! Great video again!
Hi James, well up to now it looks very clean and it has a lovely beach. Xx I really enjoyed watching this vlog tonight. Xx
My ex girlfriend booked a week's holiday in Rhyl back in 1979 we were only 18 and skint , we went by train and when the landlady opened the door to the flatlet my ex girlfriend began to cry uncontrollably, the landlady said if you want a TV that's extra but we made our own entertainment being it our first holiday together lol 🙈🙉🙊😁😎
Hiya Mate,I watched your vid on Liverpool and loved it,I am biased as I am a PROUD SCOUSER anyway am going off the point a bit but just watching your vid on Rhyl, talking about places that get BADLY SLATED we know how that feels coming from Liverpool as we get slated often by ppl who have never set foot in Liverpool but once they do visit they change their opinion,Enjoy you kid's like your whole vibe, you have a really good honest vibe about you.Regards from LIVERPOOL
@@ledzepgill7201 love Liverpool
Thanks hun❤@@LindaDent-yx7ez
Thanks for another awesome video. A real blast from the past, we had a chalet on Sunnyvale Camp at Rhyl and spent a lot of time there in the 60's. I have often wondered about taking a trip back, but I think I would be so disappointed. Safe travels James xx
I'm glad you managed to walk on the carpets without sticking, enjoyed the food and drink with no ill effects 😂😂😂 James your rant was spot on,well done, lad. 😊
Great video James . Haven’t been to Rhyl for ages . I remember when it had the sun centre- ( swimming pool I think). It still looks lovely. ☺️
@@clareboylan6741 The first ever wave machine I had experienced! Loved it!
Has SC2 now....not been tho. Entrance fee is £18.50!
When you remember how wonderful it used to be in the 1950's and 1960's ,with the miniature railway, the cycle tracks and skating rings ,the beautiful flowered etc. it's a little sad! However I agree we spend too much on the undeserving and too little on the deserving!
We normally stay at the Haven resorts around and about!
Lots of love from Wolverhampton!
Looks clean lovely fresh air. Ignore sad keyboard warriors who hide behind blank screens.
We absolutely love watching guys like u and Helen and tread the Globe and many others who show us the beauty of not only here abroad .🎉🎉🎉
Good review James. One person's viewpoint should not make you avoid visiting anywhere. Go see things for ourselves. ❤🇦🇺
Hi James,
For us its simple.
A place gets a bad review, so less people go, so more places close and less people go.
It's a vicious no win circle.
There are some brilliant coastal towns in our country 👏 so lets give them a try.
You talk so much sense James 😊
Thank you :-)
That was a crackin tour of Rhyl, and I do agree with your comment’s & observations. Our glorious leader is putting the bus fares up in the budget so that’ll be interesting won’t it…. ☹️
Loved this tour around Rhyl .Great review .
great vlog james
Nice work James, we love Rhyl. You could have crossed the blue bridge at the harbour and gone on into Towyn and then onto Abergele. There are a few destinations along the M55 to visit including Anglessey of course.
Looks pretty alright to me. As for wind farms compare them to the smoke stacks of the old power stations and they look alright. Power has to generated somewhere/somehow. Great vlog Games.
We have just spent a week in North Wales. Weather was amazing and the people were lovely. We learnt a little Welsh and were able to use it in shops. It is a fabulous country x
Hey up James….another cracking vlog…….love the rant you were spot on……Typical seaside town doesn’t look too shabby at all bet it’s packed in summer holidays……looking forward to the next one as usual drive careful pal 👌🏻👌🏻
Thanks David
Spot on James. Rhyl is like so many less well off areas of the UK. London is a huge black hole sucking huge amounts of investment at the expense of deprived areas. You are championing the less fortunate. 😎🇬🇷
good lad james always love your vids as you know, makes me happy buddy
Thanks Lee :-)
Happy memories of Rhyl from childhood holidays. Not been there for many years as my last visit was bad bad bad...but...thankyou for this...I have decided I need to start visiting Rhyl again...Great video and keep up the good work 👏 🙌 👍 😊
Grew up going there on family holidays as a kid in 60s 70s. Family had a static caravan in Towyn. It use to be great...big fun fair, Sun Center, Sealife Center, nice town, great cafes and big beach. Many happy memories. Went earlier this year with grandkids. We enjoyed what we did. Plenty of reminiscing. Thank you James
Hi James, apparently they are spending a lot of money on coastal defence works to protect 500 homes and 44 other properties from flood risk. However the whole area is under going regeneration as it was very run down, so its a lot better than it was.😊
Thanks Drew
High Five James - You got this countries ethics spot on. Perfect Video great presentation. Nothing wrong with Rhyl having lived there for three years before moving back to Blackpool.
Arriving from Blackpool, Rhyl must have been like, "The Sandbanks" in comparison.
Great vlog as usual james .been to rhyl so many times and even in the late 80s it was busy but I think it died in the 90s .very difficult to regenerate a town once it goes down hill .
the area down by the marina where the range is has all redeveloped. there was an old 50 funfair down there that closed in 2007 and lay derelict for nearly 10 years and a lot of the property down there was very run down, so it is good to see that they have improved that area a lot
Just on holiday in Rhyl!!!
Small world!
Having a lovely time.
(Sad we didn’t cross paths)
Thanks for the videos!
Rhyl looked ok. Great vlog. Keep up the fight for us. 💕
Enjoyed your trip to Rhyl ,bit I like it when you go hiking with Helen Ange
Thank you James. I've been watching your channel for a few months. I discovered you when I watched your Morecambe video. A place my wife and I love and visit a few times a year. I was expecting the usual slag the place off vlog but you were refreshingly positive about it. Since then I have really come to love watching yourself and Hellibobs. Keep up the good work mate.
Thank you 😊
Hi James I'm so pleased that you look on the bright side of places. I've watched so many other vlogs that leave me feeling depressed. I've got so many happy memories of Rhyl. I know in places it's looking a bit run down but there's lots of positives about Rhyl. I've spent a lot of time in Rhyl. We used to have a caravan in Prestatyn and I spent a lot of time having days out in Rhyl with my autistic son. All school holidays it would be me and my son and we would go to Rhyl because he loved the arcades. That chapter of my life is over. We no longer have the caravan but I have lots of happy memories of my days in Rhyl with my son.
At the end when you lean on the railings talking to camera you looked like a right pro…tv worthy! xx
Hi James,
A really good vlog and proof it’s not a bad place at all but nice, in summer I can imagine people flocking and having fun and enjoying and capturing some great memories there, I may even visit myself one day… no sticky carpets/ enjoyable food and a reasonable price for a Guinness indeed….great vlog and proof it ain’t all that bad at all ,, have a great day take care and safe journeys 👍🫡
Fab vlog James. Rhyl was our location for family holidays growing up. Fond memories. Lovely beach and mountain backdrop. Hoping investment will improve things and encourage more visitors. 😊xx
Great vlog . Love Rhyl don’t care what ppl say , we go at least once a yr if only for a day to support it have been going since I was a child , we went to Prestatyn/rhyl last yr in our Moho loved it we are booked again for 22nd of this month for 4 days cant wait , every town got rough parts but we all need to support these seaside towns we have this yr visiting many and will keep doing it ..
Great video and well said people make me sick when they Dont know enjoyed your video
I spent some very happy holidays in Rhyl in the late 60 S with my mum and dad. Every place in the world has it's good and bad sides you can have a good holiday or day trip if you look for the best not the worst
Brilliant Blog James. I like Rhyl a walk along the front and shop in town. Have some thing to eat. Cheers for blowing Rhyl Janet Kelly. North Wales.
Positive review mate, handy pint as well. 👍
Another great video James... nice weather too ATB 👍🙏☀
Every year as kids we'd go to Rhyl until I was about 6/7. Then, like you've mentioned before, our old lady took me and me two brothers to spain every year. Great vid James.
Hi James, another enjoyable video. Love the content of your vids.
I stayed in Rhyl when I was 18 with a couple of mates, when the fun fair was there and can’t believe how much the place has changed.
Many thanks again. And you and Helen keep up the good work.
I loved your review of Buxton too, that’s near me and my daughter goes to the college there, you missed it. Beautiful building, next to the Palace Hotel.
Thanks James really interesting video in my opinion covid did mean people had to look at our own coastal towns when we were not allowed to travel abroad. I remember seeing Whitley Bay Beach really packed. Everybody looked so happy. I am lucky enough to live five minutes away from the beach where I go most days, and every day I say to myself, I am so lucky to live here, there is nothing like the sea to brighten your day Best wishes from Lynda. Happy paddling. See you soon ❤
Hi James, well what can i say.. I have been in Rhyl twice during the last two years and can honestly say that we were staying in Llandudno and a day out into Rhyl was a distraction. Both occasions were short lived because not many places were open but i must say that places like this will never recover because todays generation do not know what it was like to have a week or two by the seaside.. Back in 1976 my ex wife and i took our daughter to Rhyl for a week and it was busy all the time but it is sadly vanishing from the map along with many other places.. Getting back to Llandudno was such a relief. Sadly today we see seaside resorts littered with homeless folk, junkies, beggars and drunkards.
Love rhyl been going since i was a kid in the 6os and still going with my family thanks for your honest review james but you really go and vist llangollen its beautiful
Rant in Rhyl was great. I agree with everything you said. Keep up the good work.
Another Brilliant video James
Hi James.
You have given me so much pleasure in watching your videos
I always follow you and share much of your views and opinions.
Well James through watching your videos you have inspired me to go out and buy a small van very similar in size to yours
But it's a vauxhall and both me and my partner are going to travel in it I own a house and it is something I'm going to do on a part time basis but you have inspired me to do this and you are responsible for giving me the push to do it and I can honestly say James it's been a great decision and I would just like to say a big thank you if you should ever be around Blackpool on your travels I would love to show you it and have a brew and a chat with you I am semi retired now and I suppose reasonably successfully in my occupation
But this little van has given me such a sense of freedom and opened up a whole new world to me so may I say a very big thank you James
I'm a born and bred Yorkshire lad like you
Take care James and it would be great to meet you
O please give Helen my best wishes she seems a lovely lady
Thats brilliant to hear, well done to you two :-)
Another fab vlog, James. You searching for Sticky carpets, ha ha 😂 Your pint Of Guinness looked nice!!!! 👍🏻😁🍺 Take care.
1 of the best solo vlogs spoke a lot of sense james
You've done the best as possible for Rhyl, and was a nice day. Went there for a day recently, but it was wet and did look grim so went back to Llandudno, which was much nicer.
What a brilliant UA-cam channel I’ve binge watched quite a few of your videos tonight and thought they were brilliant. I will say, that ice cream does have a lot more in it than just ice and cream though. My father used to make it for a living and it’s got a lot of goodness in it if made properly. Anyway great work. Please keep it up. And thanks. I am looking for a new motor home and loved the tour of the place where you had your van done and would like to know where it is because I would like to have a chat with them about possibly buying one from them.
Thank you 🙂
Never been to Rhyl .A beautiful life boat thank you James for the video .Gorgeous Rhyl so beautiful seaside place .
We've moved to a small village near Maryport, beautiful place, so much being done there, go have a look, underrated place. Loads of park ups near Allonby.
Hi James, first off, great video and the Donny lass hit the nail on the head and I can only echo what she said. However, I can add, my wife and I are foster carers and one of the first places we take any youngsters that come into our care is the arcades, they absolutely love the 2p machines. I think it was the third one that you went in, it is called Harkers, Les, the owner who sadly passed away a few years ago, when he saw youngsters he would give them a pound or two to get more 2p’s and they loved it, and so did he, seeing their happy smiley faces.
I'm from canada and I loved your video and if I could I would visit that town and all the others you've been to thank you for the bunking things cause it's not right. You're doing a good thing here.
Excellent Video - Yes You Have Great Thoughts onwhy our seaside towns are in a run down way, but so good you look at the Good Things in Towns! Keep up the Videos... Summers have an extra 50k People in all the Caravan Parks so Really is Bouncing at the weekends lol....
Just found your channel and subscribed. Love your presentation,,honesty and humour. Great stuff ..many thanks. Used to go to Rhyl as a kid many years ago and yes it's gone downhilthanks mainly to cheap foreign holidays....personally i will stick with good old Englang ...we have it all here.. many thanks James..
Thank you
Well done James for taking a stand, you are right about the decline of our seasides being a social economic thing, I’m 60 next year and would give everything I have to spend one week in Weymouth as child with my parents, such great and different times than today in many ways, but the decline is very much linked to the decline in family life in Great Britain and the massive change in the very fabric of the country, we all know what that is, my father was a Polish immigrant during the war, and he loved every bit about our seaside, every Government in the last 50 years has contributed to the downfall, you love Spain so much, as I do, including most other European holiday destinations because of the local atmosphere and family unit that is still alive there, and the continuation of their own culture. As for the bad reviews, they typically come from the Guardianistas, who are a major cause of the problem, slating our country, whilst help turning in into another country, and you’re correct about the money issue, I’m from down South near London, but if you take London economic wealth away, the UK is a poor country.
Amusement arcades carpet were spotless! What I noted personally, pet moan, there where no chewing gum stains. Great vlog for standing up for whits right!
Keeping it Rhyl G.
Loving the recent content.
Thanks
When I see a monstrosity of an architectural building, I always think there must have been a backhander to have got planning permission 🏴
I totally agree with your rant this week ! My feelings to a tee !
Derbyshire Miners had a holiday camp at Rhyl. It's a housing estate these days, but I noticed the streets have Derbyshire names. I liked it back in the early 1960's but it was a bit down market compared to the holiday camp the Derbyshire Miners had at Skegness.
I remember the Derbyshire Miners camp it was on Marsh Road
Great vlog mate.
James if you'd gone across the bridge heading for Towyn there's thousands of caravans. Rhyl and towyn are still a good seaside destination. My childhood summers were spent there loved evey minute of it. In summer the place is buzzing. I never go by written reviews. But obviously that woman was bias towards the area. We all need to go to seaside towns and support them keep them alive. Great vlog Keep em coming James :)

Nice video - my family comes from near Ruthin about 20 miles inland, and a day in Rhyl was my big treat when I was a kid in the 60s, the only day of the year (usually 1st Monday in August) I got off the farm, and I’d blow my years’ savings on the arcades and the old Ocean Beach amusement park (I think you might have turned back just before you got to the site of that) - I remember I once blew all of 18 shillings (it was nice when you could get 240 goes on the one-armed-bandits for a pound!). Rhyl really went downhill from the 80s, and it’s nice to see it being regenerated, but it’s nothing like it used to be. I don’t know if you got as far as the bus & rail interchange down the High Street, but if you saw how enormously long the platforms at the station are, far bigger that today’s 3 or 6 car trains need, you’d realise how very busy the place used to be!
Another brilliant production 👍👍
Thank you
After watching your stuff, and other people's channels, I've just got myself a campervan. I used to have a 6 berth Talbot express that was great when the kids were young. Can't wait to get stealth camping.
Happy days
Another good, honest video to disprove all these so called journalists!
Perhaps you'll go back in season with your littly and see if they get a few more visitors 😃
Love your positivity James, if only there were more like you. Bad news sells papers unfortunately, well you know what I mean, so many UA-cam videos are headlined to draw people into that mindset. Be good........but not too good eh 😜😂
You missed “The Manfreds” on the what’s on board in the theatre. My cousin’s husband plays the Bass with them.
When my son was little we used to go on the train and go to m&S ..not there now ..used to go out with my friends at night ..Rhyl had an out door swimming pool and in the 30 was very classy people used to go to dances there ...its very sad changed so much ❤
Look at photos of Rhyl in its heyday and the sheer volume of crowds is mind blowing. Just like loads of other UK resorts and the main market in Rhyl's case were miners from Deeside. The decline started in the mid 60s when mass tourism to Spain offered something Britain can never ever compete with. I have happy memories of my hols in the 70s at Barry Knap but only because I knew of nothing else.
Never been to Rhyl but I definitely will in future. Looks better than other seaside resorts. Great vlog James
Thanks James ,great to have a look at Rhyl, been many years since going there, but certainly not that bad, seen alot worse 😮
You always give a honest view 😅
Enjoyed 😉
I totally get what you are saying, James. In fact I think you would like to say more! I too get fed up of defeatist attitudes - we all can do something, however small, to make things better. Thanks for showing us Rhyl!
Cracking vid, spent most my holidays as a kid in Rhyl, shame about the British seaside towns, all struggling.
Loved it. Love your fair mindedness xxx
Love these videos will you be staying in any haunted places in the future
I'll do one maybe after Christmas, we fancy the ancient ram inn
My age is early 60s , poor old RHYL, your review was so kind/positive, it is what it is, every dog has its day, biggest shocker, that they have a half decent theatre, in my very early teens, have such fond memories, bingo, bay city rollers hats, even then, unless you peeps like us, absolutely no one would spend a week here, certainly a day trip place, believe that a boat used to run from Liverpool, lots of yummy places a few miles up the coast, final comments so sad, as it so could be restored, currently, I would find it a 😢 scary place to spend time in and rather threatening, apologies to citizens,
I went to Rhyl on a day off from a visit to Llandudno. I had bussed from Ross on Sea, Colwyn Bay, Prestatyn and Rhuddlan. I found it better than I thought. I found a cheap restaurant opposite the Yorkshire building society. I went to the rail station to get a pic of the sign in Welsh.
A fair assessment showing the best of the promenade. Pity you didn't carry on walking a little further and visit the harbour which has some lovely views, also town hall which you walked by and the parish Church St Thomas's.
