@@brandonaviationhd TOGA is takeoff/go around. TOGA is engaged on every takeoff. If there is a de-rate thrust setting, it is programmed into the FMC. The TOGA switches are pressed and takeoff thrust is then limited to the de-rate programmed in the FMC.
Really excellent video...there's something about seeing those de-icing vehicles approach that makes me a little nervous, but I guess I should be more nervous if they don't approach...ha!
Oh, they aren't. The pilot specifically does this during Icing Condition. To warm up/melt any ice the engine before take off, they 50% for 30 seconds before selecting take off thrust. I asked an A330 pilot about this before.
@@Odontomango As I know, all airplanes do this before takeoff. They set throttle at around 50% for a while to check that the engines work properly, Their numbers have to be nominal for a while to make sure it is safe to take off.
@@Sonnell Yes, but during normal conditions, it is very brief. In the case of the video, it is in icing condition, they'll do it for 30 seconds or longer. It is a procedure for icing conditions. Other comments in the reply also confirmed.
Excellent video, Brother! Can I use it in a video for my channel? You will get credit in the video. I will provide a URL to your original video in my description. thanks
imagine the vibe getting on this plane in the early AM oooh man

The sound of this spool up, awesome! May I feature this takeoff in one of my next episodes? Of course with a link back to your original video. Cheers!
For sure! Just credit it back to me :)

That was a max thrust TOGA takeoff for sure. Just the right pitch
All takeoffs are TOGA lol
@whaledriver5457 True but when most ppl hear Toga, they think max thrust
@@whaledriver5457not true exactly, sometimes they de-rate, the runway is contaminated so TOGA is required

Why does the engine take so long to throttle up
I noticed that with a330 takeoffs but I kinda like it

I asked an A330 pilot about this before.
its usually an airbus procedure to prevent frosting and icing on the engine. 40 to 50% thrust for 30 to a 1min and then to/ga for takeoff
