Repotting time can be a difficult thing to decide for beginners but this should make it easier to decide when
now we all know
May I ask if I feed my orchid as soon as I repot them. Or do I wait please. Thank you another great video. 🫂🩷
I don't feed right away , but often use garlic tonic to give them a boost . 👍
Thank you so much!! This video was so helpful.😊
Glad to help! 😊 Thanks for watching and we appreciate your feedback 💕
Great video, thank you
We appreciate your feedback! 💕 Thanks for watching
So glad that I took the time to watch your GREAT video. You gave succinct information that should help orchid growers with this decision. Are there preferred media for different types of orchids? With the price of media having increased I have been wanting to use lava rock with all different types of orchids. Is that a good decision? I'm in s.e. Florida USA. FYI....We had many days of high temps/humidity last summer.
Yes I believe in Florida Lava rock is probably one of the best media to use , you may just have to water some of them a little more frequently in the higher temps . I wish we could get lava rock at reasonable prices here .
Good morning from the Netherlands, my Phalaenopsis are growing out of the pot at breakneck speed, I repotted them from 9 cm to 12 cm for 4 weeks Back but now they grow out of the pots with speed, after transplanting I gave them orchid food 20/20/20 The plants are about a year old and I also removed the peat pots right away, the roots where almost all good, the bad ones I removed, but they really grow out of the pot
It is always so rewarding to know you are doing everything right . Phalaenopsis always grow extremely fast until they reach a specific size and then grow very slowly .
I think I have been doing ok but I need to go check that cheat sheet lol 😂❤
be quick or sign up 😁
Personally, I try to keep repotting to a minimum & only repot when necessary, taking those factors you mentioned in your presentation into account.
Exactly! 💯 Less repotting is always better
Should I keep trying to save a dead looking orchid with floppy leaves and no roots?
I never stop until it is completely dry and dead , but that is me . It is good to learn and practice , so I say do your best it will help you do better next time 😍

"Don't stop believing" in the power !
💯😁
I usually just do it whenever it needs to be done and the plant is not flowering.....even then i sometimes dont follow that rule because sometimes it needs to be done even when it is flowering.
I recently had to repot and divide one of my cattleyas that was being overrun by bush snails melting holes in the roots. And even though by all conventional advice about repotting and dividing orchids it was the "absolute worst time" to do those things, both halves are still doing just fine and putting out new growth. In retrospect i probably didnt need to divide them, but the older canes had a lot more root mass and i was worried i would miss some snails. So even though it likely set my orchids back by a little bit, theyre both still growing and living as well as always. 😊
Yes sometimes things need to get done when they need to get done . And for sure if you are not in a rush most orchids can recover from just about anything , it can just sometimes be some of those yellow flowering Cattleya that can be a bit iffy .. 💯💕
I have a phal in full bloom but in super packed moss from the nursery. It's gross and I'm gonna repot today.
We had the same problem, eventually started buying from local growers who adjust the media to out local climate
yes I do the same , I almost never leave them in the media that they come in .👍😘
oh you are lucky to have a grower like that near you , a lot just bring them in and sell them off as fast moving items 😍
@@thenaturecompany I just thought it would drop all the flowers if I repot right away...
if you do it carefully then it should not make too much of a difference , well they should still last for over a month after repotting if they are still new or in good condition . 💯🫂💕
