I really enjoy making my own unique board games and card games.
One of my personal favorite group party style games or even single player, are the stories you go through, then given choices.
And upon deciding on an option, it gives you the next page to flip to, to see the outcome.
Just like the boss cards you mentioned in the video, these kind of things are hyper compatible with so many differences story telling techniques!

Check out Core Space by Battle Systems. Their second KS is about to end. Don't let the Sci-Fi theme distract you and don't write it off as a skirmish game. Based on your cast here I think you'll enjoy it.

Core space is great, no argument here - but if they made a Core Fantasy game, BattleSystems would reach a larger audience. They already have the terrain for sale.... hopefully soon...

Just came here to recommend Core Space. Some other recommendations to try, Starbreach: Hunters (rules are still in flux but free) and One Page Rules (both Grimdark and Age of Fantasy) have decent AI charts in the Full rulebook. If you haven't tried it, Starbreach 1st ed is a free (mini agnostic), really fun and lightweight sci fi skirmish engine (Hunters is the more coop PVE spinoff) with an active community on FB. Uses the Bolt-Action activation mechanic. Worth a try.

The A.I. for Sword and Sorcery is really good. The game is a little fiddly, though; but the enemies are a lot of fun to fight and the systems in play are tight.

The game is a bit fiddly but far less so than other games of it's type. I like Gloomhaven, actually finished over 40 missions for it,but that game brings fiddly up to a whole new level. Even Star Trek Frontiers isn't quite on that level, although any game that complex will always have some kind of issue. SAS is a pretty fast playing game considering how much is there. Even Descent can get pretty crazy when you play with like 4 expansions or more.

I'll put a 4th vote up for Sword And Sorcery. I always liked the way that the system worked. Descent used a similar system but it wasn't quite as refined. Gloomhaven is pretty good but lacks the elegance of SAS. Star Trek Frontiers, with the Kahn expansion,is also pretty well done and not overly complicated. From what I've seen of the new Aliens board game that system seems like one of the best ever done. Can't wait to try it out next year. I'm also waiting to see what the new Dark Tower game does with A.I.

    My Top 5 DC/Adventure AIs
(Not the same as my Top 5 DC/Adventure games)
    5. Gloomhaven
I'm not a fan of GH but, credit where credit's due, it's got a clever and thematic AI with just the right amount of unpredictability.
Shame it requires so much set up and organisation when you want the fully analogue experience (please don't comment about apps)
    4. Runebound 3rd Edition: Unbreakable Bonds
Say what you want about the rune casting/token/pog system, I find it deceptively tactical and surprisingly gripping each time 😊
    3. Dark Souls
Specifically the boss battles, but I actually enjoy the puzzly albeit repetitive grinding too!!
    2. Street Masters
The Sadler Bros did it again with their explosove dice, only this time they've managed to give each enemy gang a great AI and attached it to a brilliant, highly thematic game
    1. Sword & Sorcery
Yes, the GOAT of DC AIs in my opinion!!
    So thematic
    So tactical
    Sooo good!!!

Very interesting content. Could you list below your vid all the board games you are referring to ? I would like to take a closer look at their AI system.

Would you be interested in evaluating the AI in The Shores of Tripoli?

I agree wholeheartedly. Great game especially with some of the expansions. It's just complex enough without being annoying. Makes it fun for everyone to play. Even non gamers I've had try it have had fun with it.

Fritz! What would a KD:Monster played with 40k factions look like O.O?!
