    Further to my earlier comment about having pre-ordered this based on this fine video (and 2 others), and about intending to return the Boss IR2 due to arrive today and use the Pod Express instead, I wish to express my VERY SINCERE THANKS to the tremendous community of helpful individuals who apparently live on this channel, alongside Mr. Good Soul, himself, i.e. Ryan. You guys and/or gals gave me some very helpful input to inform my decisions. Ya have to love a channel where such people exist. And to make a long story shortish: I will probably keep both units, now, and play with which is best for what on my acoustic/electric pedalboard for solo gigs.

    Pod Express has so much going for it. Thanks for running through all the fx options on the Princeton/Clean amp, gives an idea of the essential tones. You're the first one who showed off the looper of any demo I've watched, so simple. Great it has a noisegate too. Bass version sounds fun too. Think I'm getting one of these.

    I love the UI on this thing. Seeing where you are set with the other effects lets you get a really good idea of what you are looking for. This peice of gear is so well thought out. All of what you mostly need and sounds great. But the control layout is what sells it for me. MIDI would have been a HUGE bonus to quick-access the presets but thats a minor gripe.

    Great deno! I like the use of the LEDs around the central selector to reflect the value being chosen for the effects. I see there is a jack for an expression pedal or two additional footswitches, and that it can run from 3 AA batteries. Sounds seem good and varied. A DI out is needed if you want to use them live without adding more to your setup. For home recording they cover a lot of bases! I don't know which I would get first but it seems the pair would give great flexibility. Have you tried running guitar through the bass pedal or bass through the guitar pedal? I didn't get a sense from your demo how responsive the amps are to your playing dynamics. Thanks for showing what these can do!

    • @MrJaapjeAapje
      @MrJaapjeAapje 3 місяці тому

      Experienced players will develop a need for more individual controls for each of the effects, especially modulation. Plus the individual effects are not easily accessible, you cannot turn them on with one click. If you want that specific phaser setting you will have to scroll through the entire modulation menu, you cannot simply turn it off and keep it idle on your favorite settings waiting to be turned back on again like a regular pedal. That would annoy me within a few days. Though I must say it is a great pedal, but definitely for beginners

    The major compromise for me might be the preset nature of the signal chain. I like to put my modulation effects after my reverbs sometimes. Maybe this can be altered by doing a deeper dive into the unit. Otherwise this unit seems to be a massive bang for the Buck. This and a computer and you could be getting started with some serious writing and recording. Having a headphone output makes this a perfect sofa noodling device.

      @@ItsaCatsLife ah, well that price hike to get it over the pond does put a damper on things… unfortunately, such is the case with a lot of music gear that’s shipped there. I paid around $350 USD to have a $180 EQD pedal shipped back to the States a couple years ago… pretty wild that there’s that much of a hike!

    A lot of bang for the buck. I wish I had it early in my electric guitar journey. I'm currently using an HX Stomp. Thanks for also showing the range of the Bass, Mid, and Treble controls. Loopers are awesome in helping guitarists turbocharge how fast they improve. They're also excellent composition tools.

    My best friend has been a big line 6 fan for decades. He uses the HX. The effects are good, I just cannot stand amplifier emulation.
    Individual effects are the way to go imo. but the compactness does make this a no brainer for travelling light.

    I was happy to see a midrange control , I was trying to find the catch , but it even has a noise gate , tuner, expression pedal input . And a somewhat gigable patch change format. The boss ir-2 is $199 with only 2 memory banks and no effects. All anyone really needs is a good clean, a good AC/DC dirt, and boosted Marshall tone for metal . With volume boost for solos. I think everyone should have one of these in their guitar case with some created tones ready to go.

    Wow. It's such an obvious and simple design that mimics multi-FX amps from manufactures, it was bound to happen and I am happy for it. I can see Blaskstar doing this as well (who knows, maybe they already have!, I am behind, a bit this year)... but I really like these.
